Whanganui Airport – First established in the 1930s, Whanganui Airport provides air links and support for businesses, tourists and private pilots in the wider Whanganui region. The airport is also the primary base for the New Zealand International Commercial Pilot Academy and home to the Wanganui Aero Club. For travellers and visitors to the airport, Whanganui Airport Cafe has a range of light meals, snacks and drinks available. Free parking at the airport is available for up to 60 minutes next to the terminal building. The long-term car park is fully fenced and is secured and alarmed in the evening after the last flight and then reopened before the first flight in the morning. Timetables are available from www.horizons.govt.nz/ buses-transport and the Whanganui i-SITE Visitor Information Centre at 31 Taupo Quay. There is also a weekday commuter service between Whanganui and Palmerston North. InterCity operates daily buses to Whanganui from a variety of towns and cities across the North Island. The InterCity bus stop in Whanganui is at 29 Taupo Quay, outside The Tram Shed.
