Libraries and community hubs

Our libraries are safe community spaces that welcome about 400,000 visitors every year, connecting people to literature, knowledge, entertainment and the world. There’s more than 100,000 books, magazines and DVDs together with over 30,000 eBooks and eMagazines available for you to enjoy. Free unlimited wifi and free-touse desktop computers are also available. Streaming video with Kanopy and Beamafilm, online training through LinkedIn Learning, as well as access to hundreds of national and international newspapers and magazines via PressReader are available from anywhere with your library card (and an internet connection!). The libraries run holiday programmes and events throughout the year for children and families. They also look after our community’s memories and enable people to discover and connect with their own and their community’s stories.

lending library. You can search the collection, reserve and renew books and manage your library account through the library website.

Joining

It is free to join the library – you can register online or at any branch. Then bring some form of identification, such as your driver’s licence or passport to the library to complete registration and get your library card – with your all-important membership number! Mobile Library The Tahi and Rua vans are on the road for more than 40 hours per week, with more than 30 scheduled stops
