Whanganui & Partners is Whanganui’s economic development agency and regional tourism organisation. We lead and drive opportunities for the Whanganui region through business, education and lifestyle. We support new and existing businesses, bring events to Whanganui and provide the latest economic data, analysis and commentary on the Whanganui district. We work with stakeholders from the agribusiness, creative industries and arts, manufacturing, logistics, education and visitor industries sectors to support and promote our economy’s strengths, capabilities and amazing points of difference.

Business We work closely with businesses, across sectors, connecting them to funding possibilities, networking opportunities and start-up and innovation support. We work to attract business to our region and help Whanganui businesses realise their full potential for growth and resilience. Education and capability We want people to have the opportunity to engage in high-value rewarding work, and for businesses to be able to find the right people to meet their needs. We work closely with education providers and industry to make sure that the right training and educational opportunities are available to build the skills that our economy needs.

Branding and marketing We have shaped our Whanganui brand to be a point of distinction. Our brand contributes to our reputation, which attracts investment, business, people, students, events and visitors.

Creative industries and arts Our vibrant creative sector is at the heart of our economic and cultural identity and is a driver of employment and business opportunities. As an internationally significant UNESCO City of Design, Whanganui takes pride in the strength of our local artistic tradition. Artists, makers, educators and creative industries will benefit from partnership with a global network of cities, major institutions and indigenous artists, all committed to placing creativity at the heart of sustainable urban development. Visitor industries We work with tourism operators and regional partners to ensure visitors to Whanganui enjoy their time here and our local industries and economy flourish. Innovation Quarter Whanganui & Partners is located at the Innovation Quarter. We share our space with Te Manu Atatu¯ (Whanganui’s Ma¯ori business network), the Whanganui Chamber of Commerce and 100% SWEET, an organisation that matches young people to employment opportunities. We all share the objective of making Whanganui a great place to live, work, visit and do business, and we often combine our expertise and resources on projects that benefit our economy and community. Services for business Whanganui & Partners has an in-house business team, which can help Whanganui business owners and sole traders identify challenges, needs and opportunities and use the tools, connections, training, or developmental resources needed to take their businesses to the next level.
