DEMOCRAT CLUB TO MEET APRIL 22
Monroe County Democrat Club will meet on Tuesday, April 22, at Santa Fe Christian Church, at 7 p.m. The youth of the church will serve their famous lasagna dinner to the club, complete with homemade pie. Speakers for the evening will be those persons who are candidates in the August primary. Make plans to attend on Tuesday, April 22.

Before a standing room only audience, Brooke Rentschler, daughter of Lee and Ali Rentschler, was crowned 2014 Miss Paris, on Friday, April 4, at the Paris R-II High School Gymnasium. Meagan Brown, daughter of Doug and Melissa Graupman, was crowned 2014 Jr. Miss Paris during the evening’s event. The pageant, in its 79th year and
currently sponsored by Alpha Phi Sorority, is an annual rite of passage for local Paris young women. The evening began with a welcome by Alpha Phi President Rita Arnett and a stirring rendition of the National Anthem by Destiny Arnett. “We are pleased to sponsor this pageant for the young women of the community,” said Sorority President Rita
Arnett. First runner-up for Miss Paris was Kaylee Brown while second runner-up was Gloria Breid. Kaylee Brown took home the Miss Congeniality award and Autumn Taylor won the highticket sales prize. The Ola Mae Ball Life Learning and Friendship Award winner was Autimn Taylor.
The Children’s Department of Little Dixie Regional Libraries is pleased to announce two upcoming storytelling events in the Monroe-Randolph county area. Guest storyteller, Steve Otto, will tell stories to area children of all ages at 10:30 AM at the Paris Branch Library and also at the Moberly Branch Library at 2 PM on Saturday, April 12, 2014. Both performances
are FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Steve Otto is a full-time freelance storyteller from Kansas City, MO. He has a degree from the University of Missouri in speech and dramatics. For four years he worked in television during the “live TV” days, and spent the next 30 years working for the government while acting, directing, and producing in community theater. He start-
ed telling stories in 1986, and became a full time freelance storyteller in 1994. He tells stories to groups from preschool age to senior citizens. His specialties are stories from the Ozarks, ghost stories, stories from literature, inspirational, and creative audience participation stories. With his repertoire of over 450 stories for all audiences, he has told at story-
