R-II FFA member Brant Francis wins Cattlemen’s Speech Contest Brant Francis, son of Tony and Barb Francis won the 2015 FFA Missouri Cattleman’s Speech Contest held January 3rd at Tan-Tara, Lake of the Ozarks. To qualify for state Brant won both the area and district contest. Brant’s speech titled “Fescue…..It’s a Love-Hate Relationship for Missouri’s Beef Producers” spoke on how beef producers need to be aware of how fescue pastures that contain a toxic entophyte are costing farmers hundreds and potentially thousands of dollars in lost revenue. Once Brant had been named 1st place he was presented a plaque, and a check for $500.00 and was asked to present his speech that night at the annual state banquet. That evening Brant was also named a recipient of the 2015 Missouri
