Lisa Borden new Holliday C-2 Superintendent/Principal
In the words of the Old West - there’s a new sheriff in town. Holliday C-2 has a new Superintendent - Lisa Borden. Borden grew up in the Calleo area, south of Calleo in the Thomas Hill Lake area and graduated from Salisbury High School. After high school she attended the University of Missouri - Columbia where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis in Elementary Education and then also worked on and received her Master’s In Education in Educational Leadership from Mizzou. Borden received her Educational Specialist from Liberty University, Virginia. Her early teaching jobs were at Bevier where she taught 4th and 6th grades before turning towards a stay at home mother for seven years. She returned to Bevier where she taught 5th grade and then became certified and taught K-12 vocal and instrumental music. After leaving teaching and entering administration Superintendent Borden became the Bevier K-6 Principal for five years and then advanced to the K-12 Principal. “I have really enjoyed meeting everyone here in Holliday,” said Superintendent Borden. “I love children and I like to teach,” said Superintendent Borden when asked why she went into education. “I am still teaching at my church.” “Without a doubt my biggest strengths are my experience and my education,” not-

Love of football leads to a very determined Coyote manager At last year’s Fall Sports Banquet, Brooke Rentschler was the first girl to receive a football letter at Paris R-II Schools. “I love football,” said Rentschler, a senior who received her letter for her job as a football manager at last year’s Fall Sports Banquet. “I was always jealous of the bond that boys have and I wanted to share in that.” Brooke noted that she grew up watching football with her dad and knows football really well. “I respect both Coach (Gary) Crusha and Coach (Quentin) Forrest very much for the job they do,” said Brooke. “I have such great relationships with the players - I have their back and they have mine,” added Rentschler. Rentschler is an extremely busy student in both academics and athletics - she
is active in football (manager), softball, golf, basketball, FFA, FBLA, Student Council and works at jacs Restaurant. She is also active in church activities, likes to be with friends and is an avid reader. Also among Brooke’s claims to fame is the youngest Monroe County Relay For Life member to raise over $1,000. “I did not have a playbook but by the end of the football season I knew each of the hand signs that was being called on the field,” said Rentschler. What does a manager do? According to Brooke, she helps supervise the ball and water boys and watches the game while cheering on the players, “like crazy.” Continued to page 3
