The Xi Beta Xi sponsored Halloween Parade will be held on Friday. October 31, beginning at 4 p.m., at the Monroe County Courthouse and continuing up and down Main Street to visit local businesses.

PARIS CHRISTIAN LORD’S ACRE SALE
Paris First Christian Church Lord’s Acre Sale and Dinner, is Sunday, October 26. Serving roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, slaw, hot rolls, dessert, and drinks from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adults $8, 5-12 $3, under 5 free. The youth will be helping with the dinner. Country Store and Auction will begin at 1 p.m.
PARIS HALLOWEEN WALK OCT. 24, 25
The Paris Halloween Walk will take place at the Paris Fairgrounds, October 24, 25, from 5-10 p.m. Bring the children in costume and Trick or Treat the Decorated Campground! Concession stand will have hot dogs, hot chocolate, coffee and cookies. This event is a fundraiser for Jacquie’s Barn sponsored by the Mark Twain and Paris Patriots 4-H Clubs. Donations welcome.

Twenty plus residents attend Paris R-II district school board meeting President Richard Fredrick called the regular board meeting of the Paris R-II Board of Education to order at 6 p.m., on Wednesday, October 15 with approximately 20 plus guests in attendance. All seven board members answered roll call. To begin the meeting, local resident Jared Kendrick addressed the board members regarding a letter from community members to the board of education members. Angel Smith also addressed the board members. Prior to anyone in attendance addressing the board, Board President Richard Fredrick explained the school board policy of not discussing either a
student or staff member in open session. He noted that staff and students concerns must be taken to an approved closed session. “Our concern is our children,” said Kendrick referring to the letter he presented to the board. “We are concerned parents.” It was noted that since the letter openly referenced a staff member the letter would be taken to closed session. President Fredrick asked those in attendance who wanted to directly discuss a student or staff member to also write a letter (pad and paper provided) and the board members would take that issue up in closed session.
John Dowell addressed the board members regarding a drop off and pick up bus policy. President Fredrick noted that the board members had not looked into this item and would take it under consideration and look into the issue. It was asked if board members would ever take a question and answer time. President Fredrick noted that the board is not the forum to ask educational questions in a first setting. You need to address the superintendent or the principals regarding specific questions before approaching the board, explained President Fredrick. In closing public comments, one resiSee Meeting...
