The voters have spoken in Monroe County to the tune of 38.97 percent voter turnout, 2,274 voters versus 5,835 registered voters. Those voters chose all Republicans for their Federal and state offices. Republicans Tom Schweich (State Auditor); Representative Sam Graves (U.S. Representative District 6); Jeanie Riddle (State Senator District 10); Lindell Shumate (State Representative District 5); and Jim Hansen (State Representative District 40) all won with percentages at or above 70 percent. SEGS4VETS PROJECT AT 15 DINER NOV. 7

In Honor of our Injured Veterans, Regional Missouri Bank of Paris will be teaming up with 15 Diner for the 6th Annual Segs4Vets project. When: Friday, November 7 Where: If you join them at 9 a.m. for breakfast, you will be in for a treat! Members of the American Legion will join them for a short program honoring our Veterans to be presented by the Paris kindergarten classes. Order from the menu all day (6 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and a percentage of proceeds will go towards their fundraiser. Free will donations are appreciated! (See ad on page 11)

R-II FALL SPORTS BANQUET NOV. 10

The 2014 Paris R-II Fall Sports Banquet will be held on Monday, November 10, at 7 p.m., in the high school gymnasium. Each family is asked to bring two dishes. Meat and drink provided.

MFA LOCAL ANNUAL MEETING NOV. 10

The 2014 Annual Meeting of the Paris MFA Oil Company bulk plant has been scheduled for 11:30 a.m. 1 p.m., on Monday, November 10, Paris Community Center, Paris, according to Bulk Plant Manager Joel Wyrick. Activities at the meeting will include a business report for the 2014 fiscal year, election of delegates for the year to come and lunch. All families are welcome, whether or not they are members of MFA Oil Company.

Commissioner Mike Minor (1,749), Monroe County Clerk Christina Buie (1,752), Circuit Clerk Heather Wheeler (1,736), Recorder Merry Sue Meals (1,749), County Treasurer Rita Blackford Wilkerson (1,684), Prosecuting Attorney Talley Kendrick (1,682), County Collector Anita Dunkle (1,813 all won running unopposed. On Friday, October 31, 2014, Monroe County Prosecutor Talley Kendrick charged Jason Lage, 32, Columbia, and Jessica Munoz, 28, Moberly, each with second degree murder and armed criminal action arising out of the February 19, 2014, shooting death of Zachary Dawson, in Madison. Lage also faces a charge of tampering with physical evidence and Munoz has an additional charge of hindering prosecution. The investigation was conducted

by the Monroe County Sheriff ’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Each of their bonds has been set at $1,000,000 (one million) cash only. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Monroe County Sheriff ’s Department worked in tandem in the investigation. According to Monroe County Sheriff David Hoffman, Lage was being held in the Callaway County jail but would be moved to the Ran-

dolph County jail. Munoz is in custody at the Randolph County jail. Prior to the new charges Lage was being held on a $40,000 cash only bond for his charge of tampering with physical evidence while Munoz was being held on a 425,000 cash only bond for her charge of hindering prosecution. Arraignment for both Lage and Munoz is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, at 9 a.m., at the Monroe County Courthouse.
