APARTMENTS FOR VETERANS AND SENIORS

The elves have their work cut out for them. NECAC recently was awarded $4.5 million in Missouri Housing Development Commission financing to build 18 new two-bedroom apartments and rehabilitate the 11 existing one-bedroom units at the Berkshire Senior Apartments in Mexico. Five of the units will be designated for qualifying senior homeless veterans. They will be able to rent a new or refurbished apartment depending upon the number of people per unit. The project is just another feather in NECAC’s housing development hat. Since 1997, the agency has been awarded more than $70 million as a partner in the construction, renovation, management or planned development of more than 1,300 apartments and homes for the elderly, families and the disabled. Weatherization Give the gift of energy costs. NECAC is seeking applications for its home weatherization program. It covers Lewis, Lincoln Macon, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Ralls, Randolph, St. Charles, Shelby and Warren counties. Services available to incomequalifying households include home energy audits, air leak sealing, insulation of walls, attics and floors, and checks of heating systems to make sure they are working properly. NECAC can spend up to $6,500 per home. Rental and owner-occupied units and mobile homes are eligible.Clients whose homes are weatherized will notice a drop in their monthly utility bills. In some cases, the savings can be 30 percent. Each year, NECAC weatherizes up to 500 homes.

es in this year’s statements including: “This year we did not add everyone’s tax statements together. If you receive more than one “pink” statement be sure to add the amounts, next to the “total”, to get the correct amount due. If paying AFTER DECEMBER 31, be sure to refer to the
