OAK HILL COMMUNITY CENTER MUSIC NIGHT

Oak Hill Community Center Music Night will be held on Saturday, October 25 at 6:30 p.m. The center is at the junction of Rt. T, Rt. N and Oak Hill Road. PERRY BAPTIST CHURCH DINNER/MOVIE

The Perry Baptist Church will be hosting a dinner and movie night at 6 p.m. Saturday, October 25. The movie is “Heaven Is for Real.” This is a free event and everyone is welcome.

FALL FUN FESTIVAL TO BE HELD OCT. 30

A Fall Fun Festival will be held on Thursday, October 30, from 6:30 -7:30 p.m., at Westview Nursing Home, 301 W. Dunlop, in Center. The event is open to the public. There will be face painting, games and candy.

FIRST BAPTIST, NEW LONDON, TO HOST TRUNK-OR-TREAT

The New London First Baptist Church invites the families of the community to a Trunk-or-Treat event on Friday, October 31, from 4:30-7:30 p.m., in the church parking lot. Area residents are invited to stop in to visit a variety of stations. Hotdogs and cocoa will be served in addition to candy treats. New 911 Employees Introduced At Monthly Meeting According to 911 Director Michael Arnold, “Right now we’re just looking at little things to get us going. There are going to be some big expenses as we look down the road.” Broken car seats, hub switch for a routing hub switch, community notifications, and training manual revisions were discussed at the October 14, 2014, 911 board meeting. Newly hired 911employees, which have begun training, introduced themselves to the board. Expenses were discussed, in particular, broken car seats in the company vehicle, as well as mileage compensation for personal vehicle use, and purchase of

miscellaneous items. UPS update is installed and waiting for parts, and the time clock has been repaired. Research ongoing for cloud system secure enough to be compliant with FBI standards. Director has ability to purchase anything under $3,000, without board approval, according to bylaws. Board members requested itemized lists of purchases made on credit cards. Plotter no longer serviceable, but working. A routing hub switch is needed to add more ports. Director Arnold pointed out, “We’re almost 100% self sufficient. We’re doing our own wiring, our own electronics,

our own computer work,” Raymond Reed resigned. The board agreed to advertise for replacement (Eastern District.) Search for new legal representative continues. Standard procedures have been updated. Standards and Procedures were updated. The Ralls County 911 will be hosting a pancake breakfast on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 9-11 a.m. and are inviting all law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel and governmental officials. Next meeting November 11.

WOODHURST RETIRES AFTER 32 YEAR CAREER Linda Woodhurst closed the door on a 32-year career in banking on Friday, October 17 at Hannibal National Bank in Perry. A reception was held with cake and punch shared with her colleagues and friends throughout the day. Woodhurst began as a teller in the Perry State Bank in September of 1982. She then worked as a loan officer and was made an officer of the bank in 1990. During her years at the bank she has also worked as a bank security officer providing customer service in CD’s and IRA’s and worked with securities of the bank and pledging public entities. Woodhurst says she will miss seeing her co-workers and working with customers every day. When asked what plans she had for retirement, she said she would “take it day by day.” Linda Woodhurst is shown at her desk at Hannibal National Bank in Perry. Friday, October 17, was her last day at work after a 32-year career in banking.
