The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) and Missouri Staffing are hosting a job application and screening fair. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the NECAC Ralls County Service Center, 411 Main in New London. Applications will be accepted for factory, industrial, assembly,
machine operations, warehouse and data entry positions. Jobs will vary on first, second and third shifts. Full-time positions are available. Applicants must be able to pass a drug screening. Jobs are in Bowling Green, Monroe City and surrounding area. People who plan to attend should bring a valid, state-issued photo identification and a Social Security card. Monroe County Collector Anita Dunkle will mail the 2012 tax bills to county residents as early as Wednesday, Nov. 7 Dunkle reminds county residents that Missouri Law states that taxes become delinquent on Jan. 1, 2013. To avoid any late penalties being assessed, taxpayers are cautioned to obtain a postmark of no later than Dec. 31, 2012. “Check with your local post office to see when they will close this year for the holidays,” suggested the collector. Tax payments may be deposited in the black drop box located at the south door of the courthouse
or by online payment until midnight, Dec. 31. Tax payments can also be made in person from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 31. Walk-in traffic on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, will be assessed penalty and interest. “Please review all receipts for correct information,” asked Collector Dunkle. Vanessa Forrest named Chamber Person of the Year President Eales spoke to the members about the enthusiasm and professionalism of the chamber board members and their desire to provide the best services possible for their members. President Eales recognized the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors – Vice-President Charles Holland, Secretary/Treasurer Mary Brown, Executive Director Vanessa Forrest, and members Lloyd Miller, Glenn E. On Thursday, Nov. 1, the Paris Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual banquet at the Paris R-II Schools. Approximately 50 chamber members, business owners and residents were in attendance. Local recording artist Becky Blackaby provided the evening’s entertainment. “We are here tonight because of you,” said Chamber President David Eales welcoming the assembled. After the innovation by Chamber Member Glenn E. Turner, the attendees dined on a meal of pork loin, cheesy potatoes, green beans, rolls and dessert provided by Dawn Peak and served by the Paris R-II FBLA Chapter members including sponsor Barb Mason. After the meal, Chamber Executive Director Vanessa Forrest explained to the crowd about new chamber products such as a new brochure and the new chamber website – parismo.com. “We are in the process of making sure that each chamber member has a page on the new website,’ said Director Forrest to the chamber members.
