ARMSE TO MEET FRIDAY, MARCH 15
The Hannibal Mark Twain Chapter of the Association of Retired Missouri State Employees (ARMSE) will meet on Friday, March 15, beginning a 11:30 a.m., at the Nutrition Center, 219 South Tenth Street, in Hannibal. HYMN SING TO BE HELD MARCH 16
The Hymn Sing for the Monroe Baptist Association will be held Saturday, March 16, at Crooked Creek Baptist Church, in Monroe County, starting at 5:30 p.m., with soup, sandwiches and dessert. The host church will provide soup and guests are asked to bring sandwiches or desert to share. The pastor, Rev. Kevin Keeling, will have scripture and prayer. The Hymn Sing portion of the evening will start at 7 p.m. Visitors are welcome to attend and enjoy both times of fellowship and music.

On Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m., in the Paris R-II High School cafeteria there will be a informational meeting for incoming freshmen at Paris High School. The information will cover high school graduation requirements, four year planning, and other important information about high school.

Madison C-3 Gymnasium saw a standing room only crowd of over 400 for the 3rd Annual Blow Cancer Away fundraiser by the Monroe County Cancer Supporters. APPEAL PHOTO The Monroe County Cancer Supporters were looking to “Blow Cancer Away” with their 3rd Annual Blow Cancer Away fundraiser and found themselves in a tornado as they raised over $31,000 for their cause. Approximately 438 people showed up for the yearly event, this year held in Madison at the C-3 School gymnasium. “One hundred percent of the proceeds raised tonight goes directly to your Monroe County neighbors, friends and family affected by cancer,” said MCCS President

According to Monroe County Clerk Sandra Francis team voting will be provided prior to the April 2 General Municipal Election. Anyone who is shut in and unable to go to the polls may request the “Absentee team” to visit them in their home, or they may contact the Clerk’s office to be put on the permanent disabled list. Missouri Election Law 115.284 (I) establishes an absentee voting process to assist persons with permanent disabilities in the exercise of their voting rights. Clerk Francis urges anyone who would like to be placed on the list to contact her office by either mail or telephone. Those people who are already on the permanent list will remain on the list and do not need to contact the office. Individuals may contact the County Clerks Office by either mail at 300 North Main, Room 204, or telephone at 660-3275106. The team will visit area nursing homes on Tuesday, March 26.

To help defray the costs of the banquet MCCS obtained sponsorships. There are four levels of sponsor-
ship – Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Sponsors names were used in event advertising and appeared on banners at the event and were used in thank you advertising. According to Turner, the group was organized to help Monroe County cancer patients and their family.

PARIS SENIOR CENTER TO HOST MAYORS FOR MEALS DAY ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20 The Paris Senior Citizens’ Center announced today that it would be holding Mayors For Meals Day as a part of its March For Meals campaign. Paris Mayor Jim Buckman will be participating in the event to show his support for our community’s homebound and hungry seniors. The center’s Mayors For Meals Day event, on Wednesday, March 20, will include the local mayor delivering meals to homebound clients. “We are excited about having the Honorable Jim Buckman participate in our Mayors for Meals Day event,” said Administrator Tara Sheffield. “Our mayor has been involved with our program in the past and the national Mayors For Meals Day is an excellent way to continue our relationship.
