KINGSTON South East is a progressive coastal town on the shores of Lacepede Bay, about 240 kilometres southeast of Adelaide. It is the business centre of the surrounding countryside. The Big Lobster on the main road gives a clue to the fishing industry here which has been and is the mainstay of the town. Tourism is popular especially in the summer months. The beach is big wide safe swimming beach. There are wineries close by and farming continues as it has for many years.

The sea can be treacherous for shipping with submerged rock outcrops and numerous shipwrecks caused the lighthouse at Cape Jaffa to be built where it stood guard for just over 100 years.

Kingston has a number of substantial buildings and the jetty once had ships visiting bringing goods and loading wool. Originally there was a lighthouse at the end of the jetty. Part of the jetty was destroyed in a storm, but there’s plenty of jetty left to fish or tale a stroll. It’s a laid back friendly town with numerous services including a hospital, and a fine green golf course. The caravan park is set on the foreshore and there are RV parks both ends of the town.

It’s a favourite place to retire and a good base to stay for visitors.

Coorong National Park is nearby. Kingston hosts a number of events throughout the year, enjoyed by locals and visitors.
