LLATZERET El de Maó fue el primer lazareto de España (siglos XVIII-XIX). Se construyó para aislar el pasaje de los barcos procedentes de países contaminados o sospechosos de contagio. LA CATEDRAL CATHEDRAL Perteneciente al gótico catalán, la catedral fue construida entre los siglos XIII y XIV en el mismo lugar que antes ocupaba la mezquita mayor. Fue restaurada en los siglos XVI y XIX. In Catalan gothic style, the cathedral was built between the 13th and 14th C. in the same place on which the main Medina mosque had been built. It was restored in the 16th and 19th C.

PUERTO DE MAÓ PORT OF MAHÓN Con cerca de 5 km de longitud, es el segundo puerto natural más grande del mundo, solo por detrás del de Pearl Harbour. Sus muelles concentran una buena oferta gastronómica y de ocio. Es la cima más alta de Menorca con 358 metros de altura. Aquí se encuentra el Santuario de la Virgen del Toro, construido en el siglo XVII. Magnífica vista panorámica sobre el norte y el este de la isla.
Menorca ha sido reconocida como Destino Turístico Starlight y Reserva Starlight, disticiones que avalan las excelentes cualidades de la isla para la observación de las estrellas y su compromiso con la protección del patrimonio y el medio natural. SANTA ÀGUEDA En la cima de Santa Àgueda se pueden visitar los restos de un antiguo castillo musulmán (siglos X-XIII). El camino de acceso conserva el empedrado original. BERENJENAS AL HORNO BAKED AUBERGINES Receta muy sabrosa. Se elabora a partir de un sofrito (cebolla, ajo, tomate, pimiento, huevo y berenjena) y luego se hornea en las mismas barquitas con pan rallado. It is made with a “sofrito” of onions, garlic, tomatoes, peppers, egg and aubergines and it is cooked topped with breadcrumbs in the oven.
RAYA AL HORNO BAKED SKATE La raya es un pescado muy apreciado en la isla. Esta receta se conoce como perol y se elabora con papata, tomate, ajo, perejil y pan rallado. Skate is very popular on the island. This recipe is made with potato, tomato, garlic, parsley and breadcrumbs.
ARRÒS DE LA TERRA No es un plato de arroz al uso. El ingrediente principal es el trigo molido y se acompaña de carne de cerdo, tomate, patata y ajo. Se cocina al horno. It is not a usual rice dish. The main ingredient is ground flour accompanied by pork, tomatoes, potatoes and garlic. It is cooked in the oven.
OLIAIGUA Sopa caliente hecha con cebolla, tomates y pimiento verde. En la mesa se acompaña de higos y pan tostado. Es una de las recetas menorquinas más auténticas y también humildes.. A hot soup made from onions, tomatoes and green peppers. It is served with figs and toasted bread. It is one of the most humble Menorca recipes.
SALSA MAHONESA MAYONNAISE Tiene su origen en Menorca. Aparece con el nombre de “ailioli bo” en un recetario local del siglo XVIII. Los franceses la importaron y la internacionalizaron. It originated in Menorca. It appears under the name of “allioli bo” in a local recipe of the 18th Century. The French imported it and made it internationally known.

La Galería Cayón acoge «la exposición más especial» del artista venezolano Cruz-Diez (1932-2019). Con el título El color como acción, está compuesta por una veintena de obras realizadas entre los años 2008 y 2019, período considerado por el propio artista como su «lapso más fértil». = The Cayón Gallery is hosting «the most special exhibition» of the Venezuelan artist Cruz-Diez. Called Colour like action, it comprises a range of work created between 2008 and 2019, considered by the artist himself to be his most «fertile period».
La Galeria Retxa expone una veintena de obras del fotógrafo Lluís Real, que conforman un recorrido por el interior de diferentes edificios antiguos de la isla. Realizadas con una Leica digital, las imágenes evocan la abstracción a partir de la elocuente combinación de luz y color. Un libro acompaña la muestra. = Retxa is exhibiting about twenty photographic works by the photographer Lluís Real that cover the interiors of various old buildings on the island. PEDRA VIVA EN HAUSER & WIRTH La prestigiosa galería se alía con el festival cultural de referencia en la isla. Hauser & Wirth deseaba un ciclo con la marca Pedra Viva para dar vida escénica a los espacios de su nueva sede sin perder la condición plástica. Y ahí lo tienen: el delicado teatro de objetos de Xavier Bobés (25 y 26/09, 18 y 20 h), el pop que nos salva de Rigoberta Bandini (23/10, 20 h), Carles Viarnès y Alba G.Corral con sello Sónar+D (11/09, 21 h) y Galejar, danza contemporánea con tonadas mallorquinas de fondo (9/10, 20 h). = This prestigious gallery is partnering with a benchmark cultural festival on the island. Hauser&Wirth wanted to work with the brand Pedra Viva for a cycle in order to bring scenic life to the spaces in their new headquarters. And here it is: delicate object theatre created by Xavier Bobés (25-26/09), salvational pop from Rigoberta Bandini (23/10), Carles Viarnès and Alba G.Corral (11/09) with the seal of Sónar+D and Galejar (9/10), contemporary dance with Mallorcan tunes in the background.

Ahora, después de todo, los podemos conocer más allá de las pantallas y comprobar que su energía sigue intacta. = The band that formed during the quarantine and ended up doing a world tour. Every night they initiate a perverse ceremony where fact and fiction merge in a game of identity change. A play by Jean Genet with an excellent cast.
