he new 40,000 square foot ER, which is projected to open in fall of 2020, will increase the ER capacity from 42 to 56 beds, allowing the department to care up to 40,000 ER patients annually. The current ER was built to handle up to 45,000 patients annually. The tower’s first floor, to open in early 2021, will contain main lobby, gift shop, retail pharmacy, admitting desk and chapel alongside observation beds and staff support spaces. The five floors above the main lobby will remain shell space reserved for future inpatient rooms.

WEST/ EAST EXPANSION SECTION
The conceptual planning layouts are based on either the Banner Templates or existing Banner departments/units of similar program or Thunderbird Master Plan Focused Update Aug 2019 function. The team explored two central options to expand the existing buildings. Differences in scope, cost and schedule were evaluated to best support the internal business cases for each portion of the proposed work.

Emergency Department
ALTA BATES SUMMIT MEDICAL CENTER
T
he intent of the project was to expand and reorganize the existing department within the existing Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. This work will add (7) treatment beds (for a total of 32), a 256-slice CT scanner, an isolation room, a ‘results waiting’ area with (9) bays, and (2) secured holding rooms. New E.D. administrative, storage and support spaces will also be provided. The public waiting area, public and staff toilets and triage rooms will also be reconfigured. Staff, patient, and public toilets are provided within the ED project, so no additional impacts are anticipated on the existing facility. Staff showers and a break room are also provided within the department. The facility’s Dietary Department is planned to accommodate the anticipated staffing of the ED. The project maintains existing relationships to adjacent spaces (i.e. ambulance bays, main hospital circulation, north building entry), and circulation within the project has been configured to maximize efficiency.

The ED expansion and remodel project facilitates a ‘team triage’ model of care, with physicians, nurses and staff forming consistent teams to maintain continuity of care for the duration of a patient’s stay. The proposed plan simplifies circulation from the remodelled area to the existing ED areas, as well as clarifying way-finding

Ambulatory patients will be received at a reception desk in the waiting area, then taken into a triage room for assessment. They will then be sent to an exam room or treatment bay, or placed in an isolation or psych holding room. After triage or treatment, the patient might be placed in a “results waiting” room, if low acuity, until lab or imaging results are ready and patient can be discharged.

he project scope comprises of a new Library addition, Prefabricated lunch shelter building, Classroom and Administration building, phased parking lot, Amphitheater and Courtyard with necessary site work along with demolition of site elements. A portion of Building ‘A’ (two existing kindergarten classrooms and storage) was to be demolished to create a more inviting entrance to the Multi-Purpose Building and a better connection to the proposed court area of the new two-story building. The family center need to be located near the office. It does not share a reception area with the office but does need access between the two via a door.

Outdoor classrooms and seating areas are desired spaces between the classroom wings. There are several ways to develop these areas all providing great educational opportunities. Having the classrooms and library open into the central courtyard creates a collaborative and interactive environment. 18 19 20 21 22 23

Selby Lane Elementary School REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
S
elby Lane School serves grade K-8 of the surrounding neighborhood. The campus consists of two permanent one story buildings originally built in 1949 and modernized in 1993. Two additional one-story classroom buildings were added in 19 52 followed by two more in 19 55, all of which were modernized in 1993. The library/ Media Center and Multi-use Building were both completed in 1999, as well as a two-story classroom building. The program requirement needs to office to be relocated closer to the parking lot to create a secure campus entry. The classrooms need to be updated to accommodate the latest technology desired

User Interface Design TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY APP. INTERFACE
T
he brief was to design an interface for a travel photography application. The intent was to have a cleaner, sleeker look with the usage of minimal text to highlight the imagery. The transitions were to be kept minimal and seamless with a backdrop of travel sections. The interface will be organized in such a way that the globe will be divided into four sections for ease of viewing on a smaller screen. Each of the four sections can be further explored to highlight the location and the content hidden within. The overarching idea is to keep content clean and focus on the images by fading out the background.

ABOUT ME GLOBE TRACKER FEATURED
ABOUT ME My name is Apurva Samant and I’m a budding photographer. On this website you can find some pictures I’ve taken during my travel. I have been taking pictures since childhood. Ten years ago when I bought my first DSLR, photography became very important part of my life. I tend to spend all my free time travelling. I love the stunning architecture of Istanbul, the tidy countryside landscape of England as well as modern metropolitan area of New York. You can find my collection here which is up for purchase in several sizes and resolution. Over two years ago, I created a personal photography website to document my travels and showcase my photos. And that was The Meaningful Moment. Having my own professional portfolio turned out to be crucial for my future as a n architectural photography enthusiast. Since then, every month I publish a new gallery from a different country. TiltedTripod.com gathered considerable recognition both from travel enthusiasts, architectural photographers and web professionals due to its sleek design and rich photo content. The next step for me is to offer others the same tools to share their passion. I am also adding a new section to my website, VLOG. This is something new that I’m trying my hand at and I hope you enjoy it.

The same task was to be carried out with a larger screen in perspective. Minimalistic approach and the image being the foreground was the intent. Keeping the click option to the minimum, seamless navigation with self explanatory buttons has been explored. Storyboarding has been widely explored to develop a navigation scheme.

Dark to neutral color scheme has been applied to the navigation pages to emphasize the images and fade out the background. Bold colours have been used to highlight elements of importance thus maintaining a very ambient color scheme throughout.

Landing Page Design BAKING WEBSITE LANDING PAGE INTERFACE
T
he brief was to create a landing page for a new bakery. The client requested for something that is subtle at the same time highlights the product elegantly. The approach applied was very minimalistic and clean. The landing page was to display multiple products, which in this case were cupcakes, to entice the user to further explore the website. Having a defined navigation bar and the logo will make it easier for the user to explore the website. Keeping the text minimal and highlighting the features of the product was the preferred choice by the client.

VR in Architecture & Design
VR APP. INTERFACE FOR ARCHITECTS & DESIGNERS
H
aving an architectural background, along with design functionality it has always been about coming up with better ways of conveying designs which will make an impact. Several presentation techniques have been tried and tested and are either too old fashioned or have become monotonous. Receiving real-time feedback by being able to quickly jump into models, going from a third person to first person perspective completely transforms the way in which architects and designers are able to create spaces. The idea is to develop an interface with design options overlaid that allow viewing of different options recognizing human gestures. The user can then pick and choose the elements displayed in each option and can create a custom option of their choice.
34.
“
A 3D model of the proposed design is generated in an architectural software with a basic overlay of furniture, textures, and materials along with associated detailing. This model will be then imported into Unity engine to be further enhanced and baked in order to be VR capable along with UI/UX assistance.
