The development of swimming for all

Up until now, the number of people who regularly participate in swimming has reached some 100 million and the number of professional swimmers who have registered with the Chinese Swimming Association has reached a notable increase than that in the past.

• Organize domestic events well and actively host international events • Strengthen international exchanges • A well-organized association devoted to all its duties

2006 FINA Swimming World Championships (25m), FINA Diving World Series, FINA Diving World Cup, FINA Synchronized Swimming World Cup, FINA Women’s Water Polo World Cup From 2003 to 2009, China had hosted 27 events.

In recent years, the Chinese Swimming Association has further expanded international exchanges.

The China Swimming Association has 16 sub organizations, like the competition committees, equipment committee and winter swimming committee.

The challenges

•Asian swimming still large behind; •large population VS. low participation; •Not so friendly environment; •Other sports attract kids; •Diving, synchronic swimming still not popular in Asia; •Swimming pools not enough yet.

1. To encourage exchanges among national federations; 2.To boost the transfer of knowledge: a) Providing with necessary assistance for both coaches and athletes in developing countries; b) Improve the professional level of coaches, judges and supporting staff. 3. To give more support to Asian member federations to accelerate the development of water polo and synchronized swimming in Asia; 4. To provide with necessary financial support to member federations especially those in developing countries, meanwhile setting up an effective financial monitoring system.
