ABOUT THE PROJECT

2.1 INTRODUCTION RESORT A resort is a self-contained commercial establishment that tries to provide most of a vacationer's wants, such as food, drink, lodging, sports, entertainment, and shopping, on the premises. The term resort may be used for a hotel property that provides an array of amenities, typically including entertainment and recreational activities. A hotel is frequently a central feature of a resort. Some resorts are also condominium complexes that are timeshares or owed fractionally or wholly owned condominium. A resort is not always a commercial establishment operated by a single company, but in the late 20th century, that sort of facility became more common. In British English, "resort" means a town which people visit for holidays and days out which usually contains hotels at which such holidaymakers stay. The tourist activities associated with the resort will determine what type of resort it is & the location of the resort will also determine what type it is. People can expect world-class service, high class entertainment, fun-filled activities, and a variety of delectable foods and drinks and more. As a self-contained establishment, a Beach Resort provides for most of a vacationer's needs while remaining on the premises (lodging, food, drink, sports, entertainment, shopping, etc).

Here are the different types of resorts1. Luxury Resort- A luxury resort is one that provides luxurious offerings to its guests. The prices are many times out of reach for ordinary people. 8 7

2. Spa Resort- The spa experience is can be viewed as part of a luxury package. The spa amenities found in such resorts are usually high end. 3. Beach Resort- This seaside establishment offers lodging facilities as well as full access to its own private beach. 4. Golf Resort- These types of the resort, offer access to world-class golf courses for patrons to enjoy rounds of golf throughout their stay at the resort. 5. Island Resort- Island resorts are usually situated within tropical islands, and they afford you the luxury, complete seclusion. 6. Lake Resort- A lakeside resort is a resort by a lake. A resort that is lakeside normally offers water activities utilizing the lake such as kayaking, paddling, canoeing, and fishing. 7. Mountain Resort- A mountain resort is a place to holiday or vacation located in a mountainous area and offer activities such as mountain biking, mountain boarding, and hiking 8. Ski Resort- A ski resort is a resort developed for skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports at mountain.

BEACH RESORT A Beach Resort is a full service holiday lodging facility, located at the seaside, with access to a private beach. The beach being the primary focus for tourists. A Beach Resort offers a wide range of services and amenities and typically includes entertainment and recreational activities. The benefits to go at Beach Resort are that the guest finds not only the proximity to the beach but also an all-around service within the premises. It is convenient for families, offering kidsclub, evening entertaining program, shopping etc. In cases the Resort is located far away from the city, the Resort provides all the infrastructure needed (it is a ‘village’ itself). Often a Beach Resort is used as a wedding location (with a beach setting ceremony, wedding planner on side, a photographer, a hairdresser and a beauty salon etc.) This report is made on Proposed Beach Resort at Goa for Thesis Project, showing all related research works, data and proposed architectural design of Resort.

8 9

2.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM GOA, being a beautiful state of India, attracts tourists almost equal to its population every year, Infrastructure facilities as per the requirements of the tourists are yet to be developed and tourism is mainly concentrated in the four coastal talukas (Bardez, Tiswadi, Marmugao and Salcete) of the state. Therefore, environmental problems have erupted in these area, which irritate the local population. Tourists visiting the state also experience some difficulties and problems due to the shortage of infrastructure facilities or sub-standard infrastructure facilities. This proves that unregulated development of tourism creates negative effects. Looking at these problems, we do not have to stop tourism, but we must find the solutions of these problems, so that tourism in the state can develop in a balanced manner and add much more in the economic development.

2.3 AIM & OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY The members of GCZMA acknowledged that on account of rapid developments in the “Tourism Industry", environmentally sound and sustainable management of the coastal zone is critical. The Coastal Zone Management Plan for Goa may need adjustments to reduce pressures on already congested coastal stretches and allow a more evenly spread out pattern of tourism facilities in all over Goa. The Member Secretary clarified the GCZMA meeting for conducting a confirmatory site inspection, and nine cases of Hotel/Resort project proposals. (3 beach resort / 6 hotel) Our resort is one of them, so here are the few objectives by which we can resolve the problem discussed in 2.2: Provide more infrastructure facilities  Resolve the transportation facility  Provide banking facilities like like ATM  Incorporation of details respect to system contemplated for rain water harvesting, solid waste treatment/disposal and supplemental use of renewable sources of energy.

2.4 SCOPE OF PROJECT Our Beach Resort will intended to be organized Vacations, Destination weddings, Meeting and stimulate Tourism Industry. The ‘Paradise Resort’ will be an integrated “DELUXE FIVE START RESORT” Complex with host of Mutual Beneficial Facilities i.e.  Conference hall / Boardroom / Business Centre,  Large Ballroom with Banquet Hall & Auditoria,  Amenities like Gymnasium, SPA and Retail shops,  Sports Ground and recreation facility  And maximum number of rooms / suites / villa. The quality of facilities and lifestyle amenities will play an important role in attracting more national or International Events and Tourism.

Nowadays, there are myriad room types and suites at resorts around the world – a delightfully eclectic selection – meaning that any size of group and most preferences can be catered for. Of Corse, variously sized and styled room are made available at differing rates, but prices can be adjusted depending upon occupancy, time of year, and other factors. Rooms tend to fall into categories when it comes to price bands, the type of décor, whether a room is pool-side or ocean side… Images and descriptions of main features and amenities applying to each room category will usually be included on a resort’s brand website and across its distribution channels.

Even though rooms may vary resort by resort, the following room type definitions are common:    

Connecting Rooms

Adjacent Rooms

Also, it is important to point out that flexible hoteliers will always consider adding an additional bed (e.g. for a child), where a couple with toddler wish to sleep in the same room, or perhaps for an assigned care-giver. Also, in some rooms with single or double beds, a couch can be made into an extra bed where necessary. Finally, we should mention that often double rooms are books by individual travelers who perhaps have trouble getting to sleep in a single bed, and prefer a double bed for their overnight stay or if they are staying for longer!

CONCEPT SHAPE DEVELOPMENT & DESIGN ELEMENTS

8.1 CONCEPT A.

Purpose of Resort

The members of GOA COASTAL ZONE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (GCZMA) acknowledged that on account of rapid developments in the “Tourism Industry”, environmentally sound and sustainable management of the coastal zone is critical. It was also felt that due to the contemplated proposals for a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), new international airport, major IT/Biotech Parks, etc., the Coastal Zone Management Plan for Goa may need adjustments to reduce pressures on already congested coastal stretches and allow a more evenly spread out pattern of tourism facilities in all over Goa. The Member Secretary clarified the GCZMA meeting for conducting a confirmatory site inspection, and nine cases of ‘Hotel/Resort’ project proposals (3 beach resort / 6 hotel). The GCZMA insists that projects shall be endorsed only on incorporation of full details with respect to the systems contemplated for rain water harvesting, solid waste ‘treatment/ disposal’ and supplemental use of renewable sources of energy.

B.

Concept for Proposed Beach Resort

I have a site area with Sea Front in Goa, I must have to create an intermediate place or state where the righteous souls await resurrection and feel like they are in “Heaven”. I am about to give sense of Heaven in Design part of the Resort at the Sea front, I’m selecting ‘PARADISE’ as resort name as well as Concept ‘PARADISE’ for resort which refers to more earthly states & Diligently depict Heaven.

C.

Why Paradise ??    

Paradise is another word for Heaven. It will give feel like a state of bliss, felicity or delightful to our guests. In religious or mythological cosmology, there’s believe that Heaven consists of seven levels or seven divisions. Each of the seven levels is depicted as being composed of a different materials such as:-

1st Level – Water

2nd Level – White Pearls

50

3rd Level – Iron

4th Level – Brass

5th Level – Silver

6th Level – Gold

Now, we’ll use these materials to create design elements which will enhance the beauty of our ‘Paradise Resort’.

7th Level – Divine Light

D.

Uses of Materials in Resort (Building Components)

1. WATER:- We will use water to create swimming Pool, Fountains, water fall, water body, etc. 2. WHITE PEARLS:- We will use white pearls to create Decorative interior purposes such as wall art, Sculptures, paintings, etc. 3. IRON:- We will create some beautiful structures and Elements made up of iron such as iron balconies. Goa’s Architecture is famous for iron balcony of Buildings. 4. BRASS:- We will use brass for walls cladding, painting frames, serving utensils, lighting poles, decorative purposes, etc. 5. SILVER:- We will use silver to give gift pieces with the print of ‘Paradise Resort’ for our every guests to make their stay memorable with us. 6. GOLD:- We will give golden effects in Lobby interiors such as cornice, pillars, furniture, decorative purposes, etc. As we know Gold gives impact of Luxurious. 7. LIGHT:- We will use different types of divine lights in our resort as well as in landscaping.

51

E.

Paradise in Landscaping Elements  

F.

In the book of Genesis, Paradise is described as “Garden of Eden”, Biblical “Garden of God”. Paradise’s Landscape would create a pleasure garden in which the Guests experience the greatest sensual and spiritual happiness by the presence of Swan and Fruitious Trees as like they were in “Garden of Eden”.

Design Strategy The ‘Paradise Resort’ will intended to be organized Vacations, Destination weddings, Meeting and stimulate Tourism Industry. The ‘Paradise Resort’ will be an integrated “DELUXE FIVE START RESORT” Complex with host of Mutual Beneficial Facilities i.e. 1. Conference hall / Boardroom / Business Centre, 2. Large Ballroom with Banquet Hall & Auditoria, 3. Amenities like Gymnasium, SPA and Retail shops, 4. Sports Ground and recreation facility 5. And maximum number of rooms / suites / villa. The quality of facilities and lifestyle amenities will play an important role in attracting more national or International Events and Tourism.

G.
