Terminologies
Development Plan: A development plan defines the policy framework and land use proposal that will be used to guide development decision within a specified area.
Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) is a planning authority and largely covers the Ahmedabad urban agglomeration (AUA) area and more.
Municipal corporation, city corporation, Mahanagar Palika, Mahanagar Nigam or Nagar Nigam or Nagara Sabha is a local government in India that administers urban areas with a population of more than one million.
Metropolis: A large city or conurbation which is a significant economic, political and cultural center for the country or region and an important hub for regional or international connections, commerce, and communications.

The city is included in Ahemdabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) jurisdictonal area, which is responsible for planning and developemnt of this city.

1.1 Project brief and location
Sanand is a satellite town located at 25 kms from Ahmedabad city. Ahmedabad is the capital of Gujarat province of India.

Ahmedabad has emerged as an important economic and industrial hub in India. Area of Ahmedabad municipal area= 464.16 sq. km Ahmedabad’s population in municipal area= 5 million Ahmedabad’s population in urban agglomeration 6.3 million (census 2011) Area of Ahmedabad urban agglomeration= 4 towns and 103 villages, which covers 1863 sq.km

Present Scenario Sanand is one of the satellite towns of Ahmedabad, India. It has gained prominence in recent years with the onset of industries especially automobile industries . Owing to this fact, Sanand is known as the emerging automobile hub in the country. The challenge of the urban extension is how to fuse the new urban development envisaged to the existing settlement context of the city.
Issues
Sanand is a small town, where some of the people are still engaged in farming. Since, it is been developed as auto mobile hub, the agriculture land is been acquired by the farmers for Industrial development.

Urban Extension: a case of Sanand town; a satellite town of Ahmedabad, India The CPUL concept Continuous productive urban landscape (CPUL) is an urban design concept of integrating food growing into the design of cities through joining together existing open spaces and disused sites into liner landscape that connects to the courtyards. It provides- a strategic and associative framework for the theoretical and practical exploration of productive landscapes with contemporary urban design. It describe the vision for a sustainable urban future. It is a design concept advocating the coherent introduction of interlinked productive landscape into cities as an essential element of sustainable urban infrastructure. The concept also creates multi- functional open space network that compliment and support the built environment. Key features- Urban Agriculture, outdoor open spaces (leisure or commercial), natural habitats, ecological corridors and circulation routes for non- vehicular traffic.

Conclusion: Urban agriculture could indeed make a significant contribution to fruit and agriculture requirements and built environment

The objectives of neighborhood planning are-
1.
To sensitively integrate into the established urban form.
2.
To built new typology in desire to create productive landscape with good communal spaces.
3.
To manifest the public realm of dialogue and differentiations, of unity and diversity, of the individual and the collective creation of a complex blending of faiths, acts and aspirations.

Sanand town has many small lakes ,catchments and canals. The land adjoining to canal is used for farming. My concern is to develop the Sanand as an urban extension with continuous productive urban landscape which will bring a new development in cognizance with the existing agricultural activities and emerge as a new form of urbanism
