The aim of this project is to design a public-common place, part of which is a kindergarten, a park and a square. The coexistence and interaction between these three elements, is the main interest during the process.
The project is located in Patissia, a neighbourhood at the edge of the historic centre of Athens. Nowadays, the area faces extreme financial and social problems. Besides the great need for preschool age spaces, there are no statutory sites neither suitable plots for kindergartens.
Therefore, main objective of this project is to find alternative places to position kindergartens in this area. Close to public space or primary schools, I located potential available spaces (empty shells, inner courtyards or empty plots), which in combination with the existing public space and primary schools, could serve as a school and as a meeting point for the neighbourhood in the same time.
