Point, where he focused on lameness, sports medicine, and orthopedic surgery of equine athletes in training centers throughout the country.

Ty married Kristen in Knoxville, Tennessee. Their shared love of the outdoors and traveling took them on adventures around the world. Their daughter Hattie followed. A natural born leader, Ty was so many things to so many people. He loved life and lived like he was on borrowed time, facing every goal or challenge with unwavering determination. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, wake surfing, hunting, mountain biking, flying and good bourbon. Ty is preceded in death by grandfathers, Eddie Lueders and Wayne Wallis, and grandmother Jeanne Wallis. He is survived by his wife, Kristen, daughter Hattie, his parents, grandmother and extended family. Please consider a charitable donation to The Friends of Vail Foundation.

As horsemen and women, we all know the depth to which we love our equines. I realize I’m not the only person whose every hope and dream hangs upon their horse, but I do have Dr. Wallis to thank for preserving those hopes and dreams. His ability to perform challenging surgeries and turn a poor prognosis into a promising young athlete, was a true gift. He was kind, encouraging, and helpful. A true light in this world that will never, ever be forgotten. Thank you. -Sarah Olmstead

This year at Scottsdale, we played our annual round of golf before the show started. Ty shows up with his arm swollen 4 sizes larger than normal (from being kicked by a horse that day). Normal mortals would not even be able to swing a club, but not Ty! He walks up to the tee, doesn’t even take a practice swing, and hits a huge drive with a 2 iron and passes my ball (hit with a driver) with tens of yards to spare! That’s how Ty always was; amazing and didn’t even look like he was trying. -Jeremy Harper
