If we had a hall of fame in Brazilian racing, we would certainly have a statue in honor of Ivan Quintana at the Jockey Clube de São Paulo, the stage where he won the most important races and two statistics at a time when his opponents were renowned jockeys.
Born and raised in São Paulo, trainer Lucas Quintana, 37-years-old, has been involved in the world of racing every day since he was a child, as he is the son of the late and victorious Ivan Quintana, who shined brightly as a jockey and then as a trainer.
Ivan Quintana, in fact, has his name written in the history of the Brazilian Grand Prix, as he won the race in 1981, riding the horse Campal, after the disqualification of the horse Denee, ridden by the jockey Francisco Pereira Filho, who, upon feeling that he would lose the race, he resorted to unorthodox methods and ended up being disqualified. Good-natured and one of the best in Brazilian racing of all time, Quintana did not attend the awards ceremony and was notable among the jockeys of the time when he declared: “The important thing is the money in your pocket and not the photo!”
Just like his father, Lucas Quintana always has a smile on his face before the races and with his good humor he responds when asked which horse has a chance of winning the race: “This week, the one who whispered to me that he will win is the animal...”
Lucas Quintana is the only active Arabian horse trainer who has participated in all races since the beginning on September 30, 2013, when the Arabian Première Prize was held with the participation of six animals, four of which were trained by him and by bred and owned by Rach Stud Agropecuária Ltda.
In this first race, which marked the successful return of Arabian racing in Brazil, Quintana took first place with All Pol Rach (*Polonez x *After The Rapture by Aristo Kossak) and second with Thunder Rach (Foccus Rach x Talita Rach by Vivaldi Rach).
“I believe that our racing would need more government support. Breeding in Brazil has been improving a lot and has a lot of quality, but there is still a lack of quantity. In relation to Arabian races, we have sponsorship from abroad, mainly from the United Arab Emirates, which promotes the activity very well and in the last two years pedigrees of famous animals have been received to improve the capacity of our runners. In short, I think that with the good will of our government officials we have a legal future ahead of us,” declared Quintana.
Name, age and place of birth.
LQ: I am 37 years old and was born and raised in the city of São Paulo. I have been married to Monique Mello for 15 years and we have a son, Miguel, 12-years-old.
When and why did you become a racehorse trainer??
LQ: Influenced by my father, Ivan Quintana, who was a great jockey during the 70s, 80s and 90s. In 2000 he became a trainer and as I always loved horses and racing I started working and learning from him in 2001 as a groom. Then I became manager and finally in 2004 my professional trainer registration came out and since then 20 years have passed as a racehorse trainer.
How did you get in touch with Arabian Horse Racing?
LQ: I am a thoroughbred trainer at Rach Stud Agropecuária Ltda. since 2009 and it was through the Saliba Family, through the hands of the late Paulo and Mr. Jamil and also Ricardo, that I had my first contact with Arabian horses. And I’m with them to this day.
Who is your biggest customer at the Jockey Club of São Paulo?
LQ: Today, and for a long time, my biggest client is Rach Stud, which between Arabian and thoroughbred horses has around 15 animals in training, but I have another 25 animals from 12 different clients.
What is your biggest challenge as a trainer?
LQ: I like to think that my biggest challenge is with myself, I try to be better every day. I try to observe each horse a lot to learn something new every day. I always try to look at the colts that go to auction to try to find the great treasure of this whole story, the best horse. And I’m also always looking for new experiences, working with great professionals to evolve as a professional and also as a human being.
How do you prepare horses for racing? Is there an animal that needs different training and what does it look like?
LQ: It’s a big process to prepare an animal for racing. I have a wonderful team that takes great care of every detail. Care in the stable is practically the same for everyone, but training is very individual. Each horse reacts differently to physical training. Example: colts, when they are starting to work, need a lot of trotting and little galloping, normally in pairs. Older horses that are already racing need to maintain their shape and eventually train in some difficulty, so we can use different bits, gallop in both directions of the lane, use swimming, gallop inside the horse walker. In short, we must always observe the horse and find out what he needs.
Can you name a race you haven’t participated in yet and an unforgettable race?
LQ: I have the dream of winning the Grand Prix Diana, I think it is a very charming race and among the unforgettable races is my first victory as a trainer with a mare called Nova Miragem and with the horse All Pol Rach, which was my first race in Arabian races.
Editor’s Note: The Diana Grand Prix (G1) is the race that recognizes the best 3-year-old filly of her generation. Disputed over 2,000 meters on turf, it is held at the Hipódromo da Gávea, organized by the Brazilian Jockey Club; and at the Cidade Jardim Hippodrome, organized by the Jockey Club of São Paulo. It is also called Brazilian Oaks. In England and several English-speaking countries, the Diana is called the Oaks and its day is dedicated to women, always attracting a female crowd to the hippodrome.
Which horse has marked your trajectory so far?
LQ: In Arabian racing, it was undoubtedly Passion Rach, ridden by Michael Silva, who won the most important race ever held in Brazil, the Al Maktoum Cup Grand Prix (G1, 1,400 meters on turf, with nine animal) , on November 11, 2018. There was a very good horse that had a very interesting story called Ocho El Negro (Ski Champ, USA x Mucca Mia by Sunny’s Halo, CAN), owned by Dr Omar Maksoud (Stud Luiz Omar); and this horse started training when my father was still alive and after his death it passed into
my hands and ran for a few years, winning several important races at different distances. Ele chegou a correr o GP São Paulo. And it was with this horse that I won my first big prize as a trainer. He went to Rach Stud to be a sire and even awarded me some winning sons.
What was the most important race or grand prize you won as a trainer?
LQ: I was fortunate to win many classic races and grand prizes, but the most important were the Brazilian Grand Prix and the ABCPCC Classic Cup – Matias Machline (G1) in 2012; with a very special horse that passed through my life called Didimo, descendant of Nedawi x Qualibet by Buroo.
What are the biggest races and grand prizes you have participated in?
LQ: I participated in most of the Grand Prix in São Paulo, the Brazilian Grand Prix, some important races in Rio de Janeiro and I participated in the most important race of the year in Argentina, the Carlos Pelegrini Grand Prix in 2012, with Didimo who finished in third place.
Pol Rach, winner of the Arabian Première Prize on September 30,2013.
wWhen you say that some horse whispered in your ear that it would win the race, is it an intuition combined with pre-race training or a joke?
LQ: This is a joke, but it’s the sum of all the factors involved in preparing a horse, when everything goes the way we want, then normally in the race it’s a sign that it’s going to work out.
A dream.
LQ: Firstly I want to gain trainer statistics by number of victories in Cidade Jardim and then have experience as a trainer outside of Brazil.
Do you have any superstitions on race day?
LQ: I don’t like to eat lunch on race days (Laughs).
An idol, or idols, in racing and in life.
LQ: I have some idols within Turf. The greatest of all is myw father who was a great jockey and also a very good trainer and my mentor. I’m also a big fan of a jockey called Altair Domingos. And in life I really admire some names in sport, one of them is Bernardinho from volleyball and the eternal Ayrton Senna.
The year 2013 had not yet ended and the Racing department of the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA) was already preparing for the great challenges that lay ahead for the year 2014. We already had a race calendar ready and approved starting in February and ending in December, with 15 races at the Cidade Jardim Hippodrome, at the Jockey Club of São Paulo.
The prizes were already guaranteed, as the First Covering Auction for the races had been an absolute success and the group of Arabian horse racing enthusiasts was already preparing for the Second Covering Auction that would be held in June 2014.
However, we needed to think and build a project that was sustainable and long-lasting and for this there would be a need to have more partners and collaborators in addition to the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders.
We looked for partners in Brazil and through Mr. Jamil Saliba, owner of Rach Stud, we obtained our first sponsorship from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, which in addition to contributing to the value of the prize for the race, had the great initiative of celebrating the National Day of Arab Community with a gala dinner at the headquarters of the São Paulo Jockey Club with the presence of more than 300 important guests including authorities from Brazil and representatives from the Arab world.
On this gala night, our Arabian horses were the masters of the night. Starting with a parade in traditional costume and culminating in one of the most electrifying races in history with Atentaddo VE beating Thunder Rach by just a neck. It was the Arabian horse making history amid the screams and applause of more than 300 people paying homage to our icon, Atentaddo VE.
If in Brazil Arabian horse racing was already consolidating itself with each new race, outside of Brazil, this mission would be a little more difficult and time-consuming, but it was time to start working in a much larger and more competitive universe. We chose Europe to start this new journey.
We were invited by Lara Sawaya to participate in the World Arabian Horse Racing Conference, sponsored by H.H Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, or simply the Sheikh Mansoor Festival in London.
There were three days of conferences and important meetings in which we had an active and prominent participation, which enabled us to officially have our first international sponsorship for the year 2015, hosting one of the stages of the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship IFAHR to be held in May 2015 at the São Paulo Jockey Club.
In addition to this sponsorship, we had the op-
portunity to meet with several countries where Arabian horses with classic pedigrees were racing and from this meeting began the construction of The Heritage Arabian Racing Club (HARC), created by the late HH Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan; which would play a very important role in the next steps of Arabian horse racing in Brazil, including sponsorships that were essential for the continuity of our races, maintaining as a basis the breeding of Arabian horses that we already had in Brazil and which with each new step was moving towards modern Arabian horse breeding programs.
The best of this trip to London was still to come and it would be on the afternoon of Sunday, May 31st, at the traditional Newbury Racecourse that Brazil made history with an incredible victory for Jeane Alves riding Marif for the Royal Cavalry of Oma, in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint
Mubarak Ladies World Championship IFAHR. It was an undeniable victory and built on the talent of our lady jockey, as Marif was not part of the Top 7 and even the bets were paying 14 to 1. Credit to Jeane Alves and lucky for us that we returned home with more pounds in our pockets.
Still in Newbury, Lara Sawaya, executive director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Festival, once again confirmed the sponsorship of our race in São Paulo for next year and our presence in the final of the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship IFAHR in December of that year in Abu Dhabi. We returned home with our duty done and preparing for the next stage.
Everything ready for the most traditional and important race on the European Calendar, the Arc de Triomphe Race on the first weekend of
October; and there we were. Before the big event, we participated brilliantly and actively in the General Assembly of the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing (IFAHR), where we presented the progress of our first year of Arabian horse racing in Brazil and the prospect of a promising future that was coming to fruition each day.
We had a long week with several meetings, with sponsors and partners, but we were sure we were on the right track. On the big day at Longchamps we were welcomed by our partners from Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club, as well as the Al Shahania Stud team who celebrated another brilliant victory in Paris, this time with the charismatic Djainka de Forges in a cinematic run over.
We returned to Brazil with a breeding program for Arabian racing horses using the best breeders at that time in Europe. This program today parades its first sons in Cidade Jardim, Clapton AJR, Raj Al Mared, Gluck AJR and others who are yet to come and set new records.
To conclude, the most valuable race on the 2014 calendar, ending with Jeane Alves among the best lady jockeys in the world in a fierce dispute, which to this day brings back memories for racing lovers in Abu Dhabi. This time we didn’t win, but we convinced everyone that Brazil was already part of Arabian horse racing and we enchanted everyone with our friendliness, charisma and enthusiasm for the sport.
We returned to Brazil with just a short rest, as 2015 was already approaching and a new year of challenges would be beginning and another chapter of our history would need to be written.
The year 2013 was marked by the return of the Arabian Horse Racing in Brazil, this time at the Cidade Jardim Hippodrome, Jockey Club de São Paulo, with the Arabian Premiere race taking place on September 30th, contested over 1,100 meters on dirt and with the participation of six animals.
In addition to the winner All Pol Rach (*Polonez x *After the Rapture by Aristo Kossak), another horse caught everyone’s attention: Atentaddo VE (Wonderful Boy x Dahaby NA by *Padrons Image) who fought bravely and finished in third place.
The six-year-old brown stallion owned by Nuri Donizetti José Haddad and bred by José Silvestre Viana Egreja already demonstrated all his power and became the biggest winner of Grand Prix in Brazil.
In the second race held on October 27, the Prêmio Haras Sahara over 1,200 meters on dirt, Atentaddo VE won with 14 and ¾ lengths of advantage over second place. Two weeks later, he shone again by taking first place in the National Arabian Horse Grand Prix (1,300 meters on turf), on November 10.
Atentaddo VE ended 2013 by winning three of the four races held and became the biggest bet in the following year’s races.
With 11 races contested, with eight victories, six of which were grand prizes, Atentaddo VE shone on the tracks for the last time at the Arabian Horse National HARC Grand Prix (1,600 meters on turf), on November 23, 2015.
When he retired from racing in Cidade Jar-
dim, he was sold to André Lahoz Mendonça de Barros, his current owner who put him up for breeding, with sons and daughters competing and winning.
Nuri Haddad tells us a little about the story of Atentaddo VE.
“From the time he was a foal, Atentaddo VE provoked games, races and disputes between fellow pickets of the same generation; He really was Atentaddo.
“At 4 years old competing in Endurance races, for beginners, Atentaddo VE was always on the podium.
“With a huge heart, he kept his body very well refrigerated. With four healthy hooves and a lot of base, he supported a short pastern, with strong fetlocks, proportional tendons and ligaments, a broad and muscular chest with a shoulder inclination favorable to galloping that yielded distance gains.
“Wide nostrils facilitated oxygenations, which with a preponderant lower jaw, filled their lungs with air. With a well-muscled neck opening, it accompanied the thrust of the back, connected to a large and muscular hip that was supported by strong and well-positioned hocks.
“Upon arriving at the Cidade Jardim Hippodrome, he enjoyed sleeping to the sound of classical music after the 12 o’clock session.
“He had a very good temperament and was easy to manage, he adapted very well to the starter, which led him to be ready to start, always starting among the first.
“After the first races, Atentaddo VE began to enchant everyone, both inside and outside the Hippodrome. The racing public wanted to see him race.
We want to watch, will he run this week?
“Today, with the well-deserved rest at the stable, Atentaddo VE has several sons winning races at the Cidade Jardim Hippodrome.”

Chile celebrates a historic result in the Pan-American Endurance: Gold Medal for Teams and Best Condition
Chilean athletes showcased exceptional performance in the Valparaíso region, Chile, securing their dominance. Local contenders clinched an impressive three out of the four gold medals up for grabs. The Brazilian Young Riders & Juniors team, however, thwarted a potential clean sweep by Chile, securing the remaining gold medal.
On a day that will be recorded in Chile’s sporting history, the country has achieved unprecedented success in the second Pan-American Endurance Championship, held at the Llay Llay track, on November 24. The event, which saw the participation of 10 countries, was the scene of a close and exciting competition.
Chilean rider Martín García, riding SI Quililche, engaged in an intense battle against Ecuador for the lead of the event. In a demonstra-
tion of skill and determination, García managed to take the victory, thus securing the gold medal for Chile.
The silver medal was obtained by Lukas Buckel on Chella Angostura, while the bronze medal went to the Brazilian José Caio Frisoni Vaz Guimarães, riding Stud Brasil Itajara.
In an outstanding fourth place was Vicente Mayol in Alcazar Praga, followed closely by Josefina Maturana riding Suffa, who obtained sixth position. The fifth member of the team was Cristobal Larrain on his mare Jota.
In seventh place the Colombian Mora Maria Carreno riding the Brazilian Anglo-Arab Norsaad CVV.
These impressive results will not only be limited to individual medals. Chile also won the gold medal for teams, a feat that demonstrated the strength and spirit of the country’s team in this sport. To complete this historic triumph, SI Quililche was awarded with the Best Condition,
recognition for the excellent physical condition and the performance of the horse during the competition.
In an exciting and memorable day of the Pan-American Endurance Championship, siblings Vicente and Amelia Larraín have brought pride and joy to Chile, by winning the gold and silver medals in the Young Rider category.
The event, which had already witnessed significant achievements for Chile, saw these young talents cross the finish line together, waving the Chilean flag, in a moment of pure emotion and sporting brotherhood.
The race, characterized by its high competitiveness and the sportsmanship of the participants, was dominated by the Larraín brothers from the beginning. Their exceptional performance allowed them to maintain a comfortable lead over their competitors, reaching the finish line with an impressive 10 minutes difference over third place and more than 30 minutes ahead of the rest of the competitors.
The Brazilians Diogo de Oliveira Martins riding CP Latifa, Rodrigo Storani Saliba with Miranda Rach and Helena Haaland riding Valente HEB
finished in third, fourth and fifth place respectively, guaranteeing the team gold medal for Brazil and the Best Condition for Valente HEB.
“This achievement was certainly the most important of my life as an athlete. Me, my parents and the entire team created this competition year ago and put all our efforts into getting there on those days. We have a wonderful mare that was very well trained with Rancho da Capital, Rach Stud and veterinarian Roberto Turato. We were very confident, but with a dream challenge ahead that proved to be even greater when we got there, with hot weather and a very technical trail.”
“Reaching the podium was rewarding, in addition to the international experience, running on those trails, always paying attention to the time, the hard surface and the competitors, gave us an even greater challenge. Finally, the teamwork at the beginning of the race, the advice from the technicians and veterinarians and the performance of each one gave us a gold medal that was more than deserved. It was incredible to come back with two medals on my chest and I hope these are just the first
of the Pan American and World Championships to come”, declared young Diogo.
This triumph not only represents a personal victory for the Larraín brothers, but is also a testament to the growing talent and dedication in Chilean youth equestrian sport. Their success in the Pan-American is a reflection of the excellent training and commitment to the sport that characterizes the country’s young riders..
The arrival of the Larraín brothers at the finish line, sharing the victory and celebrating with the Chilean flag, was a moment of great emotion and national pride. This achievement not only stands out in the sporting field, but also symbolizes the unity and team spirit that prevails in Chilean athletes.
The gold and silver obtained by the brothers in the Young Rider category add more shine to Chile’s already successful performance in the Pan-American Endurance Championship. These results predict a bright and promising future for endurance in Chile, especially in the youth categories, and reinforce the country’s commitment to the promotion and development of young sporting talent.
In summary, the victory of the Larraín brothers in the Pan-American is a reason for celebration for all of Chile and an encouragement for future generations of riders who aspire to reach new heights in equestrian sport.

Vive la France! Their Endurance athletes and their horses had a triumphant year in 2023. France is a longtime Endurance powerhouse and competed with consistency and team strength. Athletes and horses from other countries also left indelible marks on the sport this year.
In February, the FEI Endurance World Championships were held at the Butheeb International Endurance Village in the United Arab Emirates. Sheik Nasser bin Hamad of Bahrain on Darco La Marjorie won Individual gold, while France won the Team gold.
The French riders stayed together at the event, riding consistently with excellent horsemanship to secure the Team gold – their first since 2006. Portugal and Italy also made the podium.
Individual silver went to Salem Hamad Saeed Al Kitbi of UAE on Haleh, the 12-year old chestnut mare and his 2021 FEI World Endurance Champion. Jaume Puntí Dachs on Echo Falls, a 17-year-old gelding, earned bronze for Spain in the dramatic finish.
Estonia hosted the inaugural FEI Endurance World Championship for Young Horses in Northern Europe at the Padise Equestrian Center. Representatives from 13 National Federations planted 30 cherry blossom trees at the venue. Dominika Malikova Kleinova of Slovakia on Molta won the gold medal. The event offered a preview of the sport’s future – and it is bright.
France hosted the FEI Endurance World Championship for Young Riders & Juniors in September where riders from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain finished in the top spots. Rashed Ahmad Seghayer Al Ktebi of UAE on Eddy De Montrozier won gold, becoming the fourth UAE winner of this event in a row. Team Bahrain won the gold, with team France in silver and team Italy in bronze.
Next, Team France won the gold at the FEI Endurance European Championships at Ermelo, The Netherlands, in September. France and Spain went back and forth throughout the competition, with France securing the win in the end. Phillippe Tomas on Biwaka De Chalendrat won the Individual bronze and were closely followed by their other team members.
Sabrina Arnold of Germany and Easy El Boheira were Individual gold medal winners’, mere seconds ahead of Maria Álvarez Pontón of Spain and Bolchoi El Akim. Spain secured Team Silver in this close competition of two Endurance powerhouses and team Spain, among others, will be looking to recapture gold from France in 2024 at the World Championships.
The Southern Hemisphere hosted the FEI Endurance Pan American Championships for Seniors, Young Riders, and Juniors in Llay-Llay, Chile, in November. Martin Garcia Lazo and Vicente Larrain from Chile won Individual gold in Seniors and Young Riders & Juniors respectively and Team gold in the Seniors. Brazil captured Individual bronze on both podiums and Team gold for Young Riders and Juniors.
French riders are also in the top two positions of the FEI Endurance Open Riders World Ranking. Julia Montagne was on top of ranking at the end of 2022 and recaptured the top spot in the final months of 2023 to finish first again. She edged out Melody Theolissat who was on the gold medal team from the European Championships.
Julia had completions on 18 different horses this season, and competed in France, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Spain, and the Netherlands.
“I am so happy to finish the FEI season at the very difficult race in Santa Susana (Spain), where our horses did a great job, where you have to ride with your mind to finish fresh and happy. My favorite event was in Florac [France], I love this tough race with amazing views. In 2024, I am looking for my best in the results but first for my horses to be fit and happy.”
Meanwhile, two French young riders are also vying for podium finishes in the Young Riders World Ranking, along with athletes from Argentina, Spin, and Brazil.
2023 was a triumphant year in Endurance for France. But many combinations from various countries are returning in 2024 and ready to contend for the top spots. All eyes will be back on France for the 2024 FEI Endurance World Championship being held in Monpazier, France in September.
The 70th edition of the International Endurance of Santa Susanna, Barcelona, attracted almost 200 pairs among the different high-level races, which far exceeded 200 when adding the promotional races that were held in the days following the international races.
A great success in participation in the last international events of the year that closed the High Competition League with the victory of the Catalan Aina Pujols Aumatel.
On Friday, December 1, the 1* races began, with the victory of Marcel Miranda Comellas riding El Cinc Mir after completing the three phases of the race in 5 hours 24 minutes and 28 seconds, ahead of the French Camille Coulomb and Lucie Laviguerie, while in the junior race it was the Frenchwoman Lea Vandekerckchove riding Jebelali Du Lauragais with her Spanish assistance from Marc Vila who was crowned the winner ahead of Irene Serra and Milagros Pacheco.
The highly competitive 2* and 3* races, with 6 phases divided into two days, with 150 kilometers in 2* and 180 km in total for 3*, stood out for their high classification rate, since in 2* 77% of the participants finished the race, when the normal rate for a race of this level is less than 50%.
The winner of the Open 2* race was the Catalan Joan Moret Roquet riding JM Fumiko participating in the national modality of the race, which combined the CEI participants with the CEN and gave the trophy to the winner of the mixed race.
In second position and winner of the 2* international, entering at the same time with Joan Moret, was Alex Luque Moral, world champion
rider who already won the Spanish Championship in Santa Susanna 3 years ago, with Eryvan. Third place went to the Italian Simone Gigante with Socrate Del MA.
In the 3* and longer distance race, France and Italy shared the podium when the Spanish rider Omar Blanco was eliminated at the last control after coming in second place.
First place went to Camille Coulomb with Sharon De Suleiman who took second place on Friday in the 1* race, second place in the 3* race went to Clementine Chaud with Electra De Bigorre and third place to the Italian Lorenzo Piccolo with Saroual De L’Aigoual.
The 2024 Santa Susanna International Raid was not just a sporting event, but a celebration of skill, talent and passion for equestrianism. The impeccable organization by the Santa Susanna Town Council and the Endurance Club Hipíc de Vic, together with three days of ideal weather conditions, contributed to creating an unforgettable experience for competitors and fans alike.
This edition of the Raid International not only set new standards in equestrian competition, but also promised a bright future for the sport, with emerging young talent and seasoned veterans demonstrating the best of equestrianism on a global stage.
It was a nice edition with three days of sun and no rain. Congratulations to all those classified!

As the American registering authority for the World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO), the Purebred Arabian Trust (PAT) is proud to announce that it has awarded the 2024 WAHO Trophy to the purebred Arabian mare and endurance racing icon, Treasured Moments. The fourteen-year-old mare by legendary race sire, DA Adios+ and out of Hidden Treasure, was bred by the Alan Kirshner and Deborah Mihaloff’s notable Cre Run Farm in Doswell, Virginia, and is proudly owned by Heather and Jeremy Reynolds of Dunnellon, Florida.
“Treasure,” as she is referred to in the barn, began her career in 2014 on the racetrack wearing the recognizable colors of Cre Run, one of the world’s most prominent breeding programs for Arabian racehorses. (Cre Run is the only program in the world to have bred a horse that has won three million-dollar races in the span of one calendar year, as an example.) Treasure ran seven times as a four-year-old, with one first and three seconds and earnings of $11,315.
In November 2014, she caught the professional eye of Heather and Jeremy Reynolds, avid endurance riders at the top levels of the sport, and Treasure exchanged her racetrack life for the world of endurance.
Since then, the celebrated pair has recorded over 3,000 competition miles and countless wins together, including two Tevis Cups, one Haggin Cup, and the 2021 Italian Championships, which marked the first time an American horse has won overseas since the 90s. Treasured Moments is also a recipient of the Robie Cup, a medallion that is issued to horses upon the completion of five Tevis Cups. The medallion’s equine figurehead is Wendell Robie’s mare, a paternal great granddam to Treasured Moments.
Additionally, Jeremy and Treasure incorporated a new dynamic in 2023 – competing bri-
dleless. In fact, the two won the 2023 Tevis Cup in an incredible 15 hours and 14 minutes, and they did it minus a bridle. It was a poignant image that spoke to their profound partnership.
“We are so proud that Treasured Moments is being given this award,” said Deborah Mihaloff of Cre Run Farm. “Treasured Moments is only the sixth horse to receive this award in the United States. To think that one of the six is her sire, DA Adios+ (that we raised and raced) makes it extra special. Treasure could not have achieved the levels she did had it not been for her owner, rider, and partner, Jeremy Reynolds. They are truly one. She could not be loved more. And that is a breeder’s only wish.”
“Treasure never ceases to amaze us”, said Jeremy Reynolds. “The first time I met her, it was love at first sight. She loves competing. I feel honored to have such a horse in my life. I wish everyone could have an Arabian Treasure like her.”
Treasured Moments and Jeremy Reynolds were presented with the 2024 WAHO Trophy by Bob Fauls and PAT Vice President, Howard Pike, on January 7, 2024, at the Reynolds’ Florida home. The horse-and-rider pair continues to actively compete and is pointing their efforts to the 2024 FEI Endurance World Championship this September in Monpazier, France.
The Purebred Arabian Trust (PAT) is a non-profit corporation founded in 2002 and run by its Board of Directors. The PAT is dedicated to fostering the preservation and use of the purebred Arabian horse. It is also the World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO) registering authority for purebred Arabian horses in the United States (including Mexico).

Abbes emphatically confirmed his position among the world’s premier Purebred Arabians with a scintillating victory in the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Jewel Crown at Abu Dhabi on Sunday, December 4.
There may have been no Al Ghadeer in the lineup, but a field packed with quality and depth left the gates for the marquee event, with strong international representation tackling some of the best turf horses from the UAE.
In a high-quality renewal of the AED5million feature, a field packed with quality and depth left the gates for the marquee event, with strong international representation tackling some of the best turf horses from the UAE.
The response was impressively instant as the combination immediately shot a couple of lengths clear of toiling rivals and the French rider merely needed to keep the six-year-old motivated in the straight to score by two-and a-half lengths for trainer Alban de Mieulle.
However, for rider Mickael Barzalona, victory aboard Abbes was just about as straightforward as it could be in a race of such magnitude.
An understandably delighted Barzalona said: “I got a beautiful trip for him on the rail. He
travelled all the way round very easily and I didn’t have to ask much of him for him to win the race.
“I’m very happy with the way he won as he showed his class. The performance promises plenty for the future.”
The French rider was also quick to pay tribute to winning trainer de Mieulle. “He’s a proper horseman, a proper trainer when he has the right horse and Abbes was beautifully prepared today,” he added.
Once the French rider inched off the rail as the runners turned for home and allowed his partner to find full stride the 2200m showpiece was over as a contest, with the partnership scoring by a cosy two-and-a-half lengths for trainer Alban de Mieulle.
The Elisabeth Bernard-trained Mutbahy Athbah captured the silver medal in the hands of Jean-Bernard Eyquem, while the Maxime Guyon-ridden Ch’ezza again ran well to snatch third, a further three lengths adrift of the runner-up, for Francois Rohaut.

Saturday 24 February 2024 - Horses bred by the Al Khalediah Stables continued to dominate the 2024 The Saudi Cup meeting after the family-owned Asfan Al Khalediah (KSA) added the US$2m Diriyah Gate Development Authority Obaiyah Arabian Classic to his growing record.
A winner of last year’s Ministry of Culture Al Mneefah Cup, he follows his stable companion Tilal Al Khalediah’s hoof steps by taking this valuable prize on The Saudi Cup night.
Ridden by Abdullah Alawfi, the grey son of Laith Al Khalediah and Mistahilat Al Khalidiah was given a good lead first by stablemate Saloum Al Khalediah (KSA) and then brother Qaswarat Al Khalediah before he started to edge closer off the final bend. When they turned for home, he quickened easily and needed little encouragement to put the 2000m race to bed in 2:13.72.
Four and a quarter lengths behind the Naser Mutlaq trained champion, the Sami Almutairi trained Vizhir (FR), who at the age of four was the youngster in this race, finished second, while Najeeb Al Zaman (FR) just missed second place by a nose. Of the foreign raiders, the Elisabeth Bernard trained Vica Grine (FR) finished best in fifth place.
It was a weekend to remember for trainer Naser Mutlaq who now has two champions in his yard who are equally as impressive on dirt as on turf.
Abdullah Alawfi, jockey, Asfan Al Khalediah, said: “He’s a champion horse like every jockey wants to ride. I’m so lucky. I never lose on him and I hope I never lose in the future. What a day this is. I was happy for Adel Alfouraidi that he won the race yesterday [on Tilal Al Khalediah] and I hope that we can win many more races together in the future. The horse likes 2000m and the last 200m he flew like a champion. I’ve no words to say anything else, I’m so thrilled.”
Naser Mutlaq, trainer, said: “Last year he was running on turf and it was really good. This year, switched to dirt, we knew he could and he’s an amazing horse to do both. The jockey knows this horse very well and has been riding this horse for two years so it was easy for us.”
Muhammad Aldaham,Vizhir, 2nd, said: “Very good run to finish second. The winner is just too good.”

The Naser Mutlaq-trained Tilal Al Khalediah (KSA) wrote himself into the history books when he stormed home in the US $1.5m Ministry of Culture Al Mneefah Cup, a Group 1 event for Purebred Arabians King Abdulaziz Racecourse, Riyadh
23rd February 2024: A winner of last year’s Group 1 Diriyah Gate Development Authority Obaiyah Arabian Classic, the now 6-year-old proved just as efficient on turf as on dirt.
Ridden as always by local jockey Adel Alfouraidi, Tilal Al Khalediah waited patiently in mid-division before making his move when the field, which had been led by his stable companion Turki Al Khalediah II (KSA), turned into the final straight.
Very quickly he kicked clear and while French raider Moshrif (FR) tried hard to get to him, he pulled away from him to win the 2100m race in 2:21.97 and by three and a quarter lengths. Behind the duo; Mutbahy Athbah (FR), another French raider, finished in third place.
It is the first time that a horse has recorded consecutive wins at The Saudi Cup meeting. Not only has the son of Laith Al Khaledia and Aaseyat Al Khalediah won two races, he has proved that he is a true champion by winning on both surfaces.
Naser Mutlaq, trainer, Tilal Al Khalediah, said: “I made sure that he only ran in the big races and took care of him. He always wins in the dirt races but the turf was a good test and he shows great improvement. “It’s very important for the race to be a Group 1. I have got heroes in my stable and I want to turn them into champions.”

Many predicted a win for Saudi Arabia in the $1,000,000 Group 1 Dubai Kahayla Classic, Sponsored by One Za’abeel (2000m on dirt) for Purebred Arabians, and that’s what happened - but not with the horse most expected.
Unbeaten champ Asfan Al Khalediah floundered in third as his stablemate Tilal Al Khalediah charged away with the win.
The winner of the G1 Al Mneefah Cup (2100m on turf at the Saudi Cup meeting five weeks ago), the six-year-old won his tenth race in 11 starts with a six and a half-length trouncing of Barakka, runner-up for the second year in a row.
Winning rider Adel Al Furaydi grabbed the lead with just over 400 metres to go and from then on he never looked like being beaten.
“Tilal Al Khalediah and Asfan Al Khalediah are the best horses in my stable,” said winning trainer Nasser Mutlaq Alkahtani. “Asfan Al Khalediah faced a lot of traffic today and went very wide. He won ten times in Saudi Arabia last year including six Group 1s so maybe he was a bit tired today.
“Tilal Al Khalediah has been quietly campaigned so was more fresh for today. For one year, he was sick so he started back only in the Al Mneefah Cup in February. When the jockeys asked me last night, I told Adel that Tilal Al Khalediah looks better and that he was going to win.”
“This is the second time for me in Dubai. Tallaab Al Khalediah won in 2018 for us and I hope we can come again next year.”
Winning jockey Adel Al Furaydi said: “It’s a dream come true. I am very grateful to the owners and the trainers who have trusted me with such a great horse. I’d also like to thank Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Hamdan for the opportunity to race on such a grand stage.”
Barakka (2nd), jockey Connor Beasley said: “He’s the model of consistency, take nothing away from him. He travelled lovely and got beaten by a good horse. At the same time he’s put up a good performance with some talented animals behind him. The future is very bright for him and I can’t wait for next season.”

Under the patronage and in presence of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the H.H. The Amir Sword Festival concluded on Saturday, 17 February at QREC Al Rayyan racecourse. HH the Amir crowned the winners of the last four races of the eight-race card and honoured the sponsors of the Festival.
Al Shaqab Racing’s Al Ghadeer (FR) (Al Mourtajez x Gharraa) won the HH The Amir Sword. In doing so, the Francois Rohaut-trained five-year-old also made history, winning the Doha Triple Crown – a feat which only one horse attained when HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Ebraz did it in 2020.
Al Ghadeer was the impressive winner of the Qatar International Stakes at Goodwood in in August and the Qatar Arabian World Cup at ParisLongchamp in October and on Saturday he was ridden by Christophe Soumillon to win the third and final leg of the Crown, which is a very challenging title to gain being made up of three group one tests over different distances – 1600m, 2000m and 2400m - which requires a legendary horse to defy and overcome.
Ten runners went to the starting gate in the most valuable group one race for Purebred Arabians in the world with $2.5 million on offer. All eyes were on Al Ghadeer in barrier 6 and Wathnan Racing’s Abbes (FR) (TM Fred Texas), the title holder from last year, in barrier 2. Once
the start signal was effected, the lead was in the colours of Al Shaqab Racing with Al Tammtam (FR) (TM Fred Texas) leading with a strong pace and followed by stablemate Mezown (FR) (Al Mamun Monlau) with the eventual winner in third flanked by Abbes by the rail.
The order remained almost unchanged until the home turn where Abbes and Mickael Barzalona were looking for a gap to improve. Once in the home straight, Al Ghadeer took the lead and Abbes followed him in aggressive pace. The final furlong turned into a race between the two only, but Al Ghadeer held on strongly and maintained the lead to win by a length.
The Alban de Mieulle finished a creditable second and finished far in front from the rest of the field, putting seven and a half lengths between him and the nearest rival behind. The HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani-owned and Thomas Fourcy-trained Al Doha (FR) (Al Mourtajez) completed the frame in third.
HH the Amir presented His Highness’s Golden Sword and the Doha Triple Crown to HE Sheikh Hamad bin Joaan Al Thani following the victory of Al Shaqab Racing’s Al Ghadeer in the HH The Amir Sword race sponsored by QNB. HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of Qatar Olympic Committee, and HE Issa bin Moham-
med Al Mohannadi, QREC Chairman, were present during the trophy presentation.
The Mohammed Bin Fahad A H Al Attiya’s homebred Molfit (FR) (Al Mourtajez x Djezabel Des Forges) landed the HH The Amir Silver Sword. Christophe Soumillon partnered the Francois Rohaut-trained bay colt to run out a good winner by half a length of the 1850m contest for four-year-old Purebred Arabians and score for the second time in a row. The Mohammed Bin Fahad A H Al Attiya-owned and Francois Rohaut-trained Al Zeer (FR) (Al Mamun Monlau) was the runner-up under jockey Maxime Guyon. The Mohammed Khalifa T R Al-Sowaidi-owned and Xavier-Thomas Demeaulte-trained Kanti De Bozouls (FR) (No Risk Al Maury) finished further 2.75 L in third under jockey Faleh Bughanaim. HH the Amir presented His Highness’s Silver Sword to Abdulrahman bin Fahad Al Attiya, following the Mohammed bin Fahad Al Attiyaowned Molfit’s victory in the HH The Amir Silver Sword race sponsored by Wemake Events Co. HE Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, QREC Chairman, was present during the trophy presentation.

The five-year-old chestnut mare, RG Kalifa, won first place in the Special Prize Maria Helena Vidal – Wathba Stallions Cup for Colts & Fillies, held on Saturday, April 20, at Cidade Jardim Hippodrome.
The race, held over 1,200 meters on turf for 3-years-old and older with up to two victories, had the participation of nine animals and was the first on the international Arabian horse racing calendar in 2024; was organized by the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA), in partnership with the Jockey Club of São Paulo.
Under the guidance of jockey Jeffecleone Bispo, RG Kalifa demonstrated dominance from the start of the race. However, the adrenaline increased in the final meters as Olympicka Rach closed in, closing the gap as she crossed the final lane.
“I was confident because she had performed well in previous races and in training this week. We started well and when I took the lead and managed to put RG Kalifa at the pace I wanted and enter the straight ahead of the others it
was certain that we would win. I am very happy to win the first international race and I want to thank the trainer Estanislau Petrochinscki and the breeder Cláudio Ribas”, said Bispo.
Despite the challenge, RG Kalifa maintained his lead and won the race with a difference of ¾ to Olympicka Rach, ridden by jockey Gabriel Santana. Completing the podium in third place was Gulliver Rach, ridden by the jockey who holds the world record for victories, Jorge Ricardo, who said: “It is very important to be able to encourage and participate in Arabian races. I’ve already won a few races and it’s always great to be able to be present at the opening race of the international calendar at the Jockey Club of São Paulo.”
RG Kalifa (Cáceres CSM x Caldas CSM by Pavel Rach) is bred and owned by Cláudio Roberto Guimarães Ribas, from the State of Paraná, and is trained by Estanislau Petrochinski.
Almir Ribeiro, Racing Director of ABCCA, highlighted the importance of this race as an inaugural event on the international calendar. “The Arabian horse racing season began in January
and we have already held six races so far. The latter marks a significant achievement, being the first race to have international sponsorship and be included in the HH Sheikh Mansoor Festival calendar.”
“Our deep and sincere thanks to HH Sh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Minister of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Emirates Racing Authority for his visionary insight into the future of Arabian horse racing in the world and especially the dedication and affection that Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of the Festival, has for Brazil and for the breeders of the Brazilian Arabian horse.”
The race at the São Paulo Jockey Club was held in honor of Maria Helena Vidal, ABCCA public relations that turned 80 with more than half of them dedicated to the Arabian horse.
“It was a race in honor of Maria Helena Vidal, whose life story is intertwined with that of the Arabian horse in Brazil. She is one of the most important and relevant figure in the history of this breed and that is why we decided to honor her on her birthday with this race”, said Almir Ribeiro.
The Prêmio Especial Maria Helena Vidal – Wathba Stallions Cup for Colts & Fillies was organized by the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association in partnership with Jockey Club of São Paulo.

At the Grand Prix Paulo Jamil Saliba 2024 –Wathba Stallions Cup for Fillies, held on Saturday, May 11, at Hippodrome Cidade Jardim, trainer Estanislau Petrochinski wins first and second place with RG Kalifa and RG Era.
The five-year-old chestnut mare, RG Kalifa (Cáceres CSM x Caldas CSM by Pavel Rach) dominated the race from the start and won with a 5 and ¾ length advantage over her stablemate, RG Era (RG Karat x RG Kasta by *Sarmata), in the race held over 1,400 meters on turf with eight animals in the competition; and repeated her brilliant performance in the previous race, Prêmio Especial Maria Helena Vida – Wathba Stallions Cup for Colts & Fillies, on April 20.
At the start of the final straight, the battle for second place was fought between Olympicka Rach (Bismarck Rach x Olympia Rach by *Aicyng AHRA) on the outside and RG Era on the inside who opened up the advantage and maintained it to easily cross into second place.
With a huge smile, trainer Estanislau Petrochinski declared: “I am very happy with this double achievement. RG Kalifa is a very beautiful mare who is in her best moment and is better than the others. She has a particularity: a few races ago she came to fight for victory and stopped, slowing down completely; That’s when jockey Jeffecleone Bispo realized that she can’t receive any whipping, if she gets it,
she stops. After that, the result was different, and the victories came.”
After following the training sessions and watching RG Kalifa’s races ridden by other jockeys, Bispo noticed that even though she was in front, when she received whiplash, she slowed down and stopped. “When I started training her, I proposed to Petrochinski to run with her without using the whip so that she wouldn’t get hit and he accepted. In the first race, I just used the whip to show her and she responded well and we won.”
“In this race, before the final 400 meters, I looked over my shoulder and saw that we were well ahead and Kalifa really wanted to run. I just managed it and once again she demonstrated her full potential and we won easily. I’m really happy to win the first two Wathba Stallions Cup races and hope for more wins to come.”
RG Kalifa and RG Era are bred and owned by Cláudio Roberto Guimarães Ribas from the State of Paraná.
The owner of Rach Stud, Ricardo Jamil Saliba, can also share the victory of the two mares as they are granddaughters of stallions bred by him.
“RG Kalifa is one of the most beautiful mares that have ever raced at the São Paulo Jockey Club and perhaps the granddaughter most sim-
ilar to Pavel Rach, son of Armagnac who is also the father of Ekspresjon Rach, grandfather of RG Era”, commented Saliba.
Olympicka Rach, Florida Rach, Serafina Rach and Vivina Rach, four daughters of Bismarck Rach (*Sarmata x Barcelona Endurance by Pepton) finished in third, fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively.
Almir José Ribeiro, Racing Director of the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association, emotionally highlighted the importance of this Grand Prix: “It was another race in honor of our ambassador of Arabian horse racing in Brazil, Paulo Jamil Saliba, whose life story is intertwines with that of the Arabian horse. He was one of the most important and relevant people in the return of racing since 2013 due to his great love for the horse.”

Before the start of the calendar with international sponsorship, the Jockey Club of São Paulo sponsors the races in January, February and March, with support from the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA).

Breeder and owner Ricardo Saliba, from Rach Stud, said: “It is a pleasure to prove that we are on the right path when we see that our careful selection for races, both with new imported blood and blood already proven in Brazil, results in offspring of animals that stood out in racing and now prove their importance as sires and dams.”
The race was a special tribute to Cláudio Ângelo dos Santos, executive manager of ABCCA; and was attended by the honoree accompanied by his family and friends.
“It is with great happiness and deep honor that I receive the honor of having a race with my name on it. My most sincere thanks to the ABCCA Board of Directors, represented by Ricardo Saliba and Almir José Ribeiro; for the recognition. Driven by Idevaldo Silva, Passionaddo Rach achieved a second consecutive victory by winning the Clapton AJR Race at the Hipódromo de Cidade Jardim, Jockey Club de São Paulo, held on Thursday, January 25th, the 469th anniversary of the city of São Paulo.
Second race of the 2024 Arabian Horse season, the Clapton AJR Race featured the participation of six animals, including males and females for 3-years-old and older, promoting an exciting dispute over 1,400 meters on dirt.
Once again, the highlight of the race was the horse Passionaddo Rach (Atentaddo VE x Passion Rach by Vaillant Rach), ridden by jockey Idevaldo Silva. After winning the first race of the season, the Cláudio Ângelo dos Santos
Prize, the pair once again presented an impeccable performance, competing until the last 200 meters for the lead with RG Kalifa, when he passed on the outside and crossed the finish line in first place.
The victory was consolidated with an advantage of more than 3 and 1/2 lengths in relation to second place, the mare Normandia Rach (*Uzbek Du Lion x Novella Rach by Voltaire Rach) ridden by apprentice jockey Dayvid Silva, both trained by Lucas Quintana and bred and owned by Rach Stud; followed by RG El Bak (RG Karat x *Endora by Wojslaw), ridden by Michael Silva, with training by Estanislau Petrochinski and bred and owned by Cláudio Roberto Guimarães Ribas, in third place.
Passionaddo Rach, coming from a track champion lineage, is the son of Atentaddo VE, who has eight victories, and Passion Rach, crowned with three triumphs, including a victory in a Group 1 race, the most prestigious in Brazil to date.
The horse is the result of breeding and ownership by Rach Stud, and is entrusted to the care of trainer Lucas Quintana. Saliba, when commenting on the achievement, highlights “the satisfaction in witnessing the careful selection for races, incorporating both imported new blood and those already established in Brazil”.
The Prêmio Clapton AJR was organized by Jockey Club de São Paulo with the support of Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA).

On Saturday, February 10, the 5-year-old chestnut Gulliver Rach won the Passionaddo Rach race with just a neck’s difference over RG Era.
The race was held over 1,200m on turf for 3-year-old and older without victory and had a spectacular finale in the final 150 meters with an attack from outside by Gulliver Rach (Bismarck Rach x Guinevere Rach by Mister Eros HX), under the excellent mount by Wellinton Ariel, over RG Era (RG Karat x RG Kasta by *Sarmata) who dominated the race, to secure his first victory.
After triumphing in thoroughbred races, Eduardo Iared celebrates his first victory as an Arabian horse owner.
A veteran in the world of racing, Iared expressed his satisfaction with the victory: “I am passionate about horses and have been breeding them since I was little. I had already won events with four other horse breeds, but I always thought I would still win in the Arabian breed. This victory was probably the most emotional I’ve ever had among the five breeds I breed. It was a very close race, neck and neck until the end.”
Iared has been following the Arabian horse races with great enthusiasm since their return at the Cidade Jardim Hippodrome, in the capital of São Paulo. He emphasizes: “When I started to participate with the animal Gulliver Rach, I was enchanted. It’s a beautiful race, the races
are very well organized and I was very well received by the event organizers.”
Finally, the owner of Gulliver Rach makes a point of thanking two lovers of the breed who helped him a lot in this achievement: “I want to express my sincere thanks to Ricardo Saliba, owner of Rach Stud and Bruno Zanotta, president of ANCAF (National Association of Functional Arabian Horse) for their support and encouragement and I hope this victory is my first of many others.”
Gulliver Rach was trained by Estanislau Petrochinski who took second place with RG Era. His half-sisters Vivina Rach (Bismarck Rach x Vaneska Rach by Mister Eros HX), Olympicka Rach (Bismarck Rach x Olympia Rach by *Aicyng AHRA) and Florida Rach (Bismarck Rach x Fiorella Rach by *Polonez), finished in third, fourth and fifth place respectively.
The Passionaddo Rach Race was organized by the Jockey Club of São Paulo with the support of the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA), reinforcing the commitment to
the development and promotion of exclusive races of the breed.

With a spectacular sprint in the final stretch, Passionaddo Rach achieves its third victory in the 2024 season, at the Cidade Jardim Racecourse.
On the afternoon of Saturday, March 9, the Jockey Club of São Paulo hosted the Interstate Arabian Horse Prix, promoted by the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA); contested over 1,500 meters on for animals 3-years-old and older.
Once again, the highlight was Passionaddo Rach (Atentaddo VE x Passion Rach by Vaillant Rach), under the skillful driving of jockey Idevaldo Silva and trained by Lucas Quintana.
After consecutive victories in the Cláudio Ângelo dos Santos Prize and the Clapton AJR Prize, at the start of the 2024 season, Passionaddo once again presented an impeccable performance and finished in first place, after an exceptional sprint in the final straight of the race, completing the course in 1: 47,897.
The victory was consolidated with an advantage of more than two lengths of difference over second place RG Kalifa, who until then dominated the race from the start. Completing the trifecta of the Interstate Arabian Horse Prix, in third place was RG EL Bak.
Passionaddo Rach, descendant of a champion bloodline, is the son of Atentaddo VE, with eight victories under his belt, and Passion Rach, crowned with three triumphs, including a victory in a Group 1 race. On the afternoon of Saturday, March 23, the Jockey Club of São Paulo was the stage for an exciting 1,300 meter race on dirt for the RG El Bak Prize, which saw the participation of five animals 3-years-old and older with up to one victory in your history. The race was organized by the Jockey Club of São Paulo with the support of the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA).
The race faced unexpected adversity due to the heavy rain that hit the city of São Paulo, transforming the hippodrome’s sand track into mud and considerably increasing the challenge for the competitors.
Despite the challenging conditions, Vivina Rach, under the guidance of jockey Idevaldo Silva and trained by Lucas Quintana, demonstrated an impeccable performance.
After Gulliver Rach (Bismarck Rach x Guinevere Rach by Mister Eros HX), brilliantly driven by Jeane Alves, dominated the race until the final 300 meters, his half-sister Vivina Rach (Bismarck Rach x Vaneska Rach by Mister Eros HX), for the outside on the right, she takes the lead and distances herself, crossing the finish line with 6 and ¾ lengths of difference from second place, Gulliver Rach. RG Era, ridden by Wellinton Ariel, completed the podium, closing the trifecta of the exclusive race for the Arabian horse of the day.
For Ricardo Jamil Saliba, owner of Rach Stud, as well as breeder and owner of Vivina Rach, the mare’s victory was especially significant, as
it was proof of the second successful generation of racing animals bred by them.
“Viviana is the daughter of Vaneska Rach, who is a mare who had two victories between 2014 and 2015. On her father’s side, Bismarck Rach is also confirming as a racing sire, because she is the fourth Bismarck product to win. So, the important thing for us is to have this consistency in the products, in the results. This is the beginning of a typically Brazilian lineage of the Arabian racing horse”, declared Saliba.
The RG El Bak Race was organized by the Jockey Club of São Paulo with the support of the Arabian Horse Breeders Brazilian Association (ABCCA).
