Dr. Frank J. Pop was one of the first Arabian breeders in the state of Iowa — at one time its second-largest breeder. In his guest editorial published in our July 1981 issue, he wrote: “Toughness is one facet of Arabian type. Temperament is another facet and so is appearance. Only when these three qualities are properly admixtured in one individual animal do we find the essence of type: the real, the true, the genuine Arabian horse.”
