Arabian horse show season is well under way. Here’s a brief synopsis of some shows that have recently taken place. Buckeye Sweepstakes

n existence since 1963, the Buckeye is considered by many to be “proving grounds” for U.S. Nationals. The show, always held on Memorial Day weekend, is one of the largest Arabian shows in the country, boasting in excess of $50,000 in prize money. “Even though the show was down in entries the quality was still good,” says trainer Beth Anne Graves, who was Champion Ladies Sidesaddle and Hunter Pleasure Junior Horse. This year’s highlights included the Extravaganza classes and the Yearling AEPA Sweepstakes classes, offering all an opportunity to see the exciting young purebred starts.
