HISAR MULTİ-FONCTİNAL LİVİNG AREA

SCHOOL PROJECT 5TH SEMESTER

One of the oldest settlements of Bursa, the city walls called Tophane Region, has hosted many civilizations. Therefore, Bithynia is a region where cultural traces are quite dominant, passing through Byzantium and Rome, until the Ottoman Empire. Bursa Castle, Balibey Han, historical Bursa houses concentrated on Kale Street, historical mosques, and Osman Gazi, the founder of the Ottoman State, and his son Orhan Gazi. ‘s tombs, Independence Martyrs Monument and Bursa Clock Tower are located in this area. Kavaklı, Osmangazi and Alaaddin Neighborhoods in Hisar carry many values in their structure as they are the first settlements of Bursa.

The project aimed to raise awareness of local people and outsiders to the region.

For this purpose, it was thought to make workshops and viewing points. To ensure that the area breathes, urban spaces were addes, They also act as meeting points for people ( recreational areas, theatrical activities, viewing areas, open cinema, etc)

What makes the history of the hisar important is that it has hosted many civilizations. Exhibition areas will also be created to offer people the opportunity to experience the remains of those civilizations in situ.

The route starts with ruins dating back to old civilizations that settled there before.

An overhanged bridge inspired by the Leonardo da vinci self-supported bridge, ensures that visitors can see the ruins in situ.

The path follows a predifined axe that goes through the buildings and opens to a public space.

The buiiding’s roof is supported by wooden tree like columns which branches strech homogenously all over the space, giving a sensation of rigidity and security.

Section 3-3

The structure of the building’s basement is made out of concrete which transfers the laods to to ground. The structure’s upper part is composed of wooden columns which are double crossed by a double-beam system.

This system is inpired by wooden building of built during the ancient age in the area and is directly a reminiscence of the knowlegde of the past.

THE LAND IS LOCATED IN THE AKPINAR NEIGHBORHOOD, WHICH IS ONE OF THE CHARACTERISTIC NEIGHBORHOODS OF BURSA. THE SETTLEMENT IN THE REGION IS GENERALLY ON A HUMAN SCALE, EACH HOUSING UNIT HAS ITS OWN COURTYARD AND GREENERY.

I TRIED TO DEVELOP AN ARCHITECTURE ACCORDING TO THAT NEIGHBORHOOD, IT IS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY AND TARGETS TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER.

FOR A SUSTAINABLE LIFE, CLEAN ENERGY RESOURCES ARE FIRST. DAILY LIGHTING AND ENERGY OF ELECTRICAL VEHICLES CAN BE PROVIDED USING SOLAR ENERGY.

BY COLLECTING RAIN WATER, THE GARDENS ARE IRRIGATED. IN THE ATTIC FLOORS, MEDIUM FLOOR GARDENS BECOME A SPACE ONLY HOUSING RESIDENTS CAN MEET AND GET FRESH AIR.

DETERMINING THE HEIGHT ACCORDING TO THE PROGRAM TRYİNG TO NOT AFFECT THE EXISTING NEİGHBORHOOD TOO MUCH.

CREATION OF A CENTRAL COURTYARD IN THE SHAPE OF EXISTING NEIGHBORING UNITS.

TAKING INTO ACCOUNT EXİSTİNG AXES BY OPENİNG PEDESTRIAN PATHS. ONE ARM OF THE BUILDING OPENS SLIGHTLY SO THAT ALL FAÇADES FACE NORTH.

CREATION ROOFTOP SOCIAL AREAS IN CERTAIN PARTS OF THE BUILDING. IT ALSO ACTS AS A GREEN ROOF.

The sidewalks pass through the building making it a part of the neighboorhood. Shading is ensured with sliding louver that are fixed along the façade.

At the top of the building,solar panels facing the sun direction provide energy for the homes.

MULTI FONCTIONAL LIVING AND WORKING SPACE

The project consisted of designing a housing unit together with a working area in Setbaşı/BURSA which is one of the busiest district.

The main challenge was to design a building that integrates itself in the neighborhood that also could have natural daylight during daytime in accordance with the predefined program.

Scenario:

A couple of retired individuals live in the building.

_The traditional spring manufacturing workshop, exhibition and sales area run by the man in the sixties will be located on the ground floor. The two apprentices accompanying him assist in sales and courses.

_The entire basement floor has an arranged area for the shooting course given every weekend.

_The first floor has a kitchen, living room, and an associated balcony terrace.

On the two walls of the balcony and on the terrace on the upper floor, there is a wall garden where women grow plants as a hobby. On the second floor, there are the master and guest bedrooms.
