A public space for the final farewell of beloved ones. Accommodating all the ritual needs of various religions, the space offers a meaningful and peaceful start for the next phase of life. The connection between ontological an real world

A 165 sq m. residence designed with an influence of Vaastu Shastra, an ancient architectural specification based on building physics. The envelope has a strong brutalist style which is complemented with the neutral colour scheme.

The research started in 2014 inspired from LiTraCon by architect Áron Losonczi. Objective of the research is to make walls transparent using optical fibers which is a potential e-waste in near future. The material is still in the development stage.

The project “Goods Lane” is an initiative by Sydney city inspired from“The High Line” in New York. The proposal was to redesign the urban pathway with ambient lighting system to pull the crowd. The proposed design focused on night experience of the urban walk. The competition was for innovative ideas to develop a new genre of park cultivating the notion of spatial design and planning as well as creating a recreational center at the regional scale. The presence of design schools in the locality opened the scope for activities.

Is la m follows th e m eth od prescribed by prophet Muhammed in the holy Qu r a n . Wor ld b elon g s to b oth dead and living hence the process of burial of d ead b od y m u s t b e in s u ch a way that it doesn't harm or alter any other p roces s in n atu re. We b elieve that souls of the dead will remain within our s u r rou n d in g s an d will rise on dooms day. Every person undergoes the p roces s of q u es tion in g of s ins done in his life by an angel in his coffin, hence we leave 3ft h eig ht in th e coffin so that one can sit and answer to the q u es tion s a s ked by th e a ngel. According to the Q uran there must be no d ecoration s over th e coffi n and mausoleum but a marking should be done in ord er to avoid walk in g over the body until it gets completely decomposed.

Hu m a n life is th e last p h ase of the life cycle on earth. The one who has com p leted h is life with ou t doing sins shall return back to God or else has to live a g a in a s a h u m an b eing. According to “VIS HNU S MRITHI” the rituals d on e for ou r an ces tor “ p ithr kriya” will reduce the sins in our life and that w ill h elp you to b rea k th e chain of rebirth on earth. According to Hinduism th ere are 101 typ es of d eath, which can be mainly classified as natural and u n -n atu r a l d eath . Th e d u r ation of rituals and the complexity depends on ca s te, p lace a n d sta r s ig ns.Cremation is preferred to remove all the 1 0 elem ents of life from th e body.

Bib le d oesn't say a nyth in g about disposal of body. We have a concept of j u d g em ent d ay, wh ere Jesus returns for the salvation of the people. We b elieve th at He will resu r rect the dead ones and that is why we keep the b od y p a r ts safe in a cem etery. It is considered to be ideal to place the body in su ch a way th at th e h ead will be towards west so that he can see Jesus b rin g in g sa lvation .

DR HOUSE Site: Kallingal Location: Nedumangad,Trivandrum. Area: 566.5 sq m.

Neatly placed in a cosy site of 14 cents, this house was always meant to be a reflection of the desires and beliefs of the family which they held close to them. The design was therefore conceived as an attempt to integrate these requirements into a language of luxury and style, while simultaneously creating a seamless transition between the two. The form itself begins to reflect this idea of worship, with the form being an abstract representation of a respectful bow to the Eastern sun, and remains the core of the design. Vasthushastra was carefully studied and applied to remain an integral part of the building throughout the design process. The main core of the house was designed to speak as a central tower, that duals as a stair room and a wind tower. The louvres placed here have been specifically detailed to direct the wind towards the interiors. This tower is also the major core of air circulation within the house with continuous entry and exit of air into the house, thus creating an uninterrupted circulation and defining spaces through the power of the wind.

TRANSPARENT WALL The research started during second year of under graduate program (2014).Later in 2015 the research was developed as part of architectural dissertation. The project is focused in the development of sustainable building material using optical fibers, a potential e-waste in the near future. Optical fibers are used in the communication sector and is widely used for its capability in fast and effective data transmission without loss. They have the capability of carrying light from one end to other. Although there are materials with similar properties, this project is trying to find a meaningful solution to sustainability in energy, economy and elegance. The initial prototype (bricks) was used in the project “DR House” and is successful in terms of structural stability and durability. The research primarily focuses on the physical properties of the material which includes U value, Daylight factor and life cycle assessments. The product was further developed during post graduation program at the university. Currently, the material is theoretically suitable for high raised buildings in Australia and further development is happening in the design of reflectors for the even distribution of the daylight into the interiors. This research is looking forward for further developments through collaborations with other industrial experts in the coming years.
