REQ’D ARCH CLASSES
This information is current as of March 20, 2023 - but ALWAYS subject to change!
If you are third or fourth year Arch major, you will be advised for Fall 2023 by Lance Millis, Director of CEAT Student Services. Lance has office hours in the small conference room next to Lori. FYI: We are interviewing for an additional advisor to bring on board, and Lance is assisting until we fill that role.
FALL 2023
ARCH ELECTIVES
SUMMER 2023
CONTROLLED ELECTIVES
A variety of course prefixes are acceptable as Controlled Electives for ARCH majors. Remember it is up to you to check on prerequisites. Thinking about another area of study not listed here? Email Lori with your request. These and other courses might be accepted as part of fulfilling the requirements for a minor. For a complete list of available minors go to https://registrar. okstate.edu/ and click ‘degree requirements’, then ‘minors and certificates.’
Students often ask “What electives should I take?” Well, take something that interests you! That’s what electives are there for, to help you grow as a well-rounded person! Choose from: 3000+ level classes with Gen.Ed. “A”, “D”, “H”, “N”, “S” or “I” - there are many areas of study that could be interesting to you!
Exceptions to the level 3000+ rule are:
- Any Foreign Language courses – 1000+ levels.
- Any follow-on Math or Physics course – 2000+ levels
- Any Music performance, voice, theory course – 2000+ levels.
- Any Studio Art courses – 2000+ levels. *Art controls their studios

TRAVEL/STUDY WITH THE SOA
Travel/Study of at least four weeks is a requirement of the B Arch and BS degree plans. For this summer, plans are made and the courses are enrolled , but you can be thinking about summer 2024 and getting finances in order. The travel study program typically costs $5500 + airfare and food, though SoA scholarships to defray some of that cost are available through application.
THE GRADUATE CERTIFICATE
If you enjoy thinking about the technical aspects of design consider obtaining the Graduate Certificate in the Design of the Building Envelope, in coordination with work done in studio. See Professor Mansy with any questions.
MINORS WITH THE SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE
There are three minors available to you here - “History and Theory”, “ Architecture and Entrepreneurship” and “Design” (this one is for AE majors). Each is 21 credit hours; Degreeworks allows you to check for progress towards a minor!
NEW DEGREE: BS in ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIES
We have developed a new degree track, which offers ways to remain a part of the world of design that are parallel to the NAAB accredited degree. Ask Lori!
