-ARCHIV HATE, December 2014
.. Michael Kadnar.. Yeah, I actually did not recognized him at first.. totally had no clue that he’s a drummer at some of the loudest bands in the f*cking universe – Black Table & Downfall of Gaia. Why Mr.Kadnar? He accomplished one of the hardest things and main reasons why others are disbanding - lands and oceans was not big enough to sever his killer instincts of will for playing drums for the German act Downfall Of Gaia. Michael reveals what it takes to be an international band member and some tasty comments on “Aeon Unveils The Thrones Of Decay”, the latest release by Downfall Of Gaia.
NOW YOU’RE A PART OF THE LOUDEST GERMAN BLACK/ DOOM METAL ACT DOWNFALL OF GAIA. HOW THAT EVEN POSSIBLE, YOU GUYS ARE FROM THE DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WORLD!?
First off, thank you very much for the interview, it’s a pleasure working with you again. Being on two different continents might seem odd at first, but it actually has been working out really well so far. I met Downfall of Gaia in the summer of 2013, when my band Black Table was fortunate enough to tour the USA with Downfall of Gaia. We did a one month tour all over the states, and immediately became good friends. After the tour we kept in contact, and when I heard their drummer left, I emailed them asking how the drummer search was going and offered my drumming services. I didn’t have much hope in being their drummer at first because of the distance, but they assured me I was the guy for them and that we could make it work. The rest is history! WHAT’S BEHIND GAIA MEANING? I FOUND COUPLE THEORIES THAT COULD FIT - "LAND" OR "EARTH" OR GAIA HYPOTHESIS, WHICH BASICALLY IS INTERACTION OF LIVING FORMS ON THE PLANET. In Greek mythology, ‘Gaia’ is known as mother earth. Besides the beautiful sounding of the word, it made sense to name the
band this. I joined the band after it was established, but according to Dominik, the guys just started brainstorming in the rehearsal room, and decided “Downfall of Gaia” fit the band, music, and lyrics in a good way. MICHAEL, YOU JUMPED ON THE DOWNFALL TRAIN AND IT WAS FULL STEAM AHEAD. DID YOU WORK ON THE IDEAS OF “AEON UNVEILS THE THRONES OF DECAY” OR WAS IT ALREADY ON THE AGENDA AND FULLY WRITTEN? The first thing I did when I joined was learn the entire old set. I transcribed every song note for note so it could be as authentic as possible. My first trip to Germany was in March of 2014, and we rehearsed in Hamburg for two weeks straight, sometimes up to 8 hours a day. Here we polished up the set, and started working on the new songs. Peter and Dominik, the two guitarists, each had a handful of song skeletons already worked out. They took turns presenting the songs to Toni (Bass) and I and we started working together on arranging these into full songs. After the two weeks were up, I flew back to New York and came back a month later for another two week rehearsal. We had demos to listen to during this break, which helped us get our ideas organized when we were back together in the same room.
“AEON UNVEILS THE THRONES OF DECAY” IS DEFINITELY A WILD AND INTENSE BEAST, YOUR BODY PARTS PROBABLY BLEED AFTER PLAYING THE ENTIRE ALBUM!? The intense two week rehearsals I just mentioned definitely helped get my stamina up to play these songs. After that, I kept playing the set at home and playing along to the demos to make sure my chops were still solid. Between tours I try to practice and work out as much as possible so I can stay in “tour shape.” CAN YOU SHARE SOME DETAILS & COMMENTS ON THE ALBUM AND SONGS? I think the quote we used by Dion Boucicault, “Men talk of killing time, while time quietly kills them” accurately explains what the album is about. Time has influenced each member of the band differently, especially over the past couple of years. Dominik wrote all the lyrics on his own, but the eerily resemble my life in a lot of ways. I lost a very close family member a couple of years ago, and it tore my family apart unfortunately. Portions of the album are about loss, and how time can heal certain things and make other things worse. “MUSIC BASED ON C=128HZ (C NOTE IN CONCERT A=432HZ) WILL SUPPORT HUMANITY ON ITS WAY TOWARDS SPIRITUAL FREEDOM. THE
INNER EAR OF THE HUMAN BEING IS BUILT ON C=128HZ” – RUDOLPH STEINER. WILL EVER DOWNFALL OF GAIA CONSIDER TUNING SONGS IN 432HZ FOR SPIRITUAL FREEDOM OR METAL SHOULD NOT BE ABOUT SUCH THINGS, IT’S ABOUT ABSORBING SPIRIT/ SOUL? I know music and frequencies can be described scientifically, but for me, real music comes from the soul, and from all the experience and suffering a person has gone through. You can take any classic, historic song/groove and try to play it, but it will not sound like the original because of the personal experience and emotion that musician had. If you try to emulate John Coltrane, or Miles Davis, or Steve Gadd, more times than not, you will be able to play their melodic or rhythmic idea, but it’ll sound different. This all has to do with the soul and groove of that musician. I feel the same way about metal music and metal drumming. I don’t care about what we are tuned to, or how fast a blast beat is. I care about writing for the song and expressing myself accurately to serve the music. I want every note I play to be purposeful, and not just random stuff. I want to play every blast beat as hard as I can, and not use triggers to sample a digital clip. My current drum concept has a lot to do with creating a
“sheet of sound” and using two cymbals in unison to create this broader sound.
bunch of records (jump to the following pages) I really got into this year.
TWO MORE THINGS THAT YOU’VE BEEN INVOLVED WITH.. WHAT FUTURE HOLDS FOR BLACK TABLE, IT’S BEEN PRETTY QUIET SINCE “SENTINEL” EP TOOK OVER THE INTERNET. THAT WAS A BLAST, I NEVER WITNESSED SOMETHING LIKE THAT! ANY PARTICULAR RARENESS WILL BE RELEASED VIA SILENT PENDULUM RECORDS? Black Table is hard at work writing a full length record. We got a new bassist, and have been practicing together for a few months now. The songs sound bigger then ever and I’m really excited for the next chapter of Black Table. As for Silent Pendulum Records, I have a lot of big things planned for 2015 that I can’t divulge just yet. However, my next release just arrived, Bereft’s “Lost Ages” is shipping now. Also, I do plan on expanding my distro by working with some of my friends labels. 2015 should prove to be a busy but good year.

DEAF HANK // DÖ
ANCST - IN TURMOIL // These guys ear raped me by ruthlessly ramming their blackened crust deep into my ear canals. It hurt, but at the same time it felt so good.
GRAVES AT SEA, SOURVEIN - SPLIT // One is enough to melt your face. But two melts your face AND fucks your skull. Do not listen to this album, if you don't want to be grinded to dust.
BOG OAK - A TREATISE ON RESURRECTION AND AFTERLIFE // If I'd had a soul, it would have been eaten by this album. A siren lured me further to the dark side, and persuaded me to pick up an axe.
LORDS OF VENUS - VOL. 1 // From the very first note, my feet raised from the ground, and I was launched to a one way trip deep into outer space. MONOLORD - EMPRESS RISING // I've ran against this massive wall of sound so hard, and so many times, my head bleeds. Still not wearing a helmet.

GUEST LISTS BEST ALBUMS OF 2014
VESA TAMMISTO // ENEMIES
YOUNG WIDOWS - EASY PAIN // Young Widows is the raddest, coolest band in existence, and their latest is also their greatest. I've played King Sol constantly since it came out, and can't seem to get enough. My roommate probably wants to break the vinyl in half by now. SELF DEFENSE FAMILY - TRY ME // This one came out in January and I just love it so much. The songs are just great, Turn The Fan On being my favourite bummer-song of the year and the Jeanna Fine interview on the second LP is genuinely heart-breaking. I've only been able to bring myself to listen to it once. SELF DEFENSE FAMILY - INDOOR WIND CHIMES B/W COTTAGING // SDF bums me out like no one else. Patrick Kindlon's lyrics and vocal delivery is just perfect here. They should make an LP of this type of material for me to weep quietly to. TRYER - KUKKIA KAAMOKSESTA // The pride of my home town released their second LP and it's simply so much fun. Finnish language, high speed, heavy metal tinged melodic hardcore with enough ear wormy riffs for two records. I imagine the vocals turn a lot of people off, but I love 'em. Also, they put on a great live show. RAVAGE RITUAL - SOUL EATER // This type of 'dark hardcore' usually bores the shit out of me, but these dudes do the Belgian thing so well you'd think this was a Rise And Fall side project. Except I like this more than any Rise And Fall record. Crushing. THE AUSTERITY PROGRAM - BEYOND CALCULATION // I think I read somewhere these dudes took four years
writing this album, and I'd say it paid off, because the songwriting here is just fucking great. Technical, yes, but not to the point of distracting and for a record this PRODUCED (drum machines and all) this sounds strangely human. A PREGNANT LIGHT - BEFORE I CAME // APL's compilation album puts together all his previous releases and shows off his progress as a songwriter. When bands come up with nonsensical genre tags for themselves, they tend to come across as gimmicky and forced, but I think purple metal sounds as accurate a description for this as you can get. Catchy as an STD. WHITE LUNG - DEEP FANTASY // I don't know anything about pop punk, nor do I care, but this is a perfect, fun, sticks in your head for days-summer record. Makes me want to ride a bike to the beach and get drunk at noon. CULT LEADER - NOTHING FOR US HERE // Gaza was always one of my favourites, and I'm happy this new incarnation of the band hasn't strayed too far from the formula. A bit simpler, a bit more punk, but still so damn heavy. The closer, Driftwood, is so strangely serene, I want my band to write a whole album of rip-offs of it.
SWANS - TO BE KIND // So long, so slow, so heavy and emotionally draining I can't hope to ever take it all in in a single sitting, but luckily not quite as soul crushing as The Seer, this is just a masterpiece. I had a nightmare last week, where Michael Gira made me play theremin with them at a show and I was so anxious I fell off the stage and woke up in a cold sweat. Since when has a band given me nightmares? Fuck me.

There’s much more God in our dark souls than you can imagine.
+ DO YOU BELIEVE AND HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT HELL? I absolutely believe in Hell. The Bible does not really talk as much about Hell as most people think. The thinks it does say about it, make me not really want to be there. There is a lot of imagery that has been painted for Hell, but the one thing that I do definitively gather from the brief Biblical account is that it is an eternal separation from God. + STRANGE FEELING KILLED MY INSPIRATION LATELY.. I GUESS BEING A SINNER IS THE WORST ENEMY TO CREATIVITY. It’s funny that you say that. I ran away from God and the church for a several year period of my life. I wanted nothing to do with Him, and I did everything I could to separate myself from Him and to keep me from thinking about Him. In that three year period, I wasn’t playing music, writing, or drawing. There was a couple times that I remember trying, and nothing came from it. When I am living in my sin and running from God, my creative well dries up completely. As soon as I turn back to Him, I reflect on everything that happened and everything that changed in me and a constant flow of music, art, and writing pours out of me. + THERE’S ALWAYS SOME SONG THAT THROWS ME BACK INTO THE WORLD OF ART AND MUSIC AND THIS TIME IT WAS FUNERARY “BENEATH THE BLACK VEIL”. HOW OFTEN DO YOU RE-DISCOVER YOUR SOURCE OF INSPIRATION? I get inspiration from a very wide range of things. Everything from day to day life, to seeing or hearing a killer band for the first time, my wife or my friends calling me out on my crap, the troubles that the people I love face, reading the Bible, or just being out in nature. Recently, I’ve been getting a lot of inspiration from a combination of Lord Mantis, Emperor, Lana Del Ray, and Nine Inch Nails.

+ I THINK GOD IS THE FORCE THAT MOVES US.. I would agree with that. There have been so many times that I have looked back on and am amazed at what I have accomplished, and I have no idea how I did it. Like I’ll do a drum track or hear my vocals and be like “where did that come from?”. For example, how well Slaves BC is doing. Things have been going so well for us: way better than it should. The only thing that I can think is that God has been pushing us and opening the right doors. He is definitely what keeps me going. I would have given up so very long ago if it weren’t for His hand in my life. + YOUR ART HAS SORT OF A BIBLICAL PATH IN IT – GODS, CROSSES & STORIES WITH A PRESENCE OF COLD & DARK DEATH. HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE YOUR STYLE? I have wanted to be an artist since I was 3. I loved comic books, especially X-Men. I used to draw my own made up comic book series starting from when I was 7 years old. Since then, I have developed a very strong appreciation for old Biblical woodcuts. Two of my favorite artists are Gustave Dore and Albrecht Durer. I would say that my particular style ends up being a blending of comic books and classic woodcuts. + WHAT’S THE STRANGEST THING YOU WITNESSED FALLING FROM THE SKY? I wasn’t sure what to say for this, and my guitar player said to say “My wife”. + YOUR BAND SLAVES BC CAN BE REFERRED MORE TO BLACK METAL OR WHITE METAL ACT? LET ME EXPLAIN MYSELF – BEAST DRIVEN METAL MACHINE OR GOD HANDS IN THE METAL MUSIC SCENE.
Stylistically we have elements of black metal in our music and that is something that we appreciate and enjoy. This

music comes from some very raw, dark, and painful things that we have struggled with. As far as the idea and message behind the band, we are something of God’s hands inside of a predominantly beast-driven scene. Although the lyrics are all Biblically based, a lot of them are speaking out against the modern Church and some of the horrible things that “Christians” do in Christ’s name. + CAN YOU REVEAL YOUR SECRET ART PROJECTS NOW? Well, one of those secret art projects was for the Veritas Vinyl Christmas Compilation. Which is out now and can be downloaded for free at the Veritas Vinyl Bandcamp site. Some of the other projects I’m working on are for different Veritas Vinyl releases that have not been announced yet. One of those is the art for our full-length record due out in late summer of 2015. Also, I am doing an original art piece to go along with each installment of a series of free singles that we are recording and releasing for free ourselves. One single with original artwork will be uploaded every month between January and July. + THIS YEAR IS COMING TO A DEAD END SOON AND THE INTERWEBS ARE GOING WILD ABOUT THOSE TOP THINGS. WHAT CAUGHT YOUR ATTENTION THIS YEAR? There were a lot of great records that came out this year. I’m sure I have missed a bunch as well. I haven’t fully decided on what records I’m putting on my year-end list yet. But there are four that I will say that are definitely going to be on it. I absolutely loved the new Lord Mantis, Indian, Behemoth, and Electric Wizard records and they are in my most listened to and favorite albums of the year.

Split Wow Topan Das sure is a busy man these days. Not sure how many releases he's put out for his various other bands including his self titled works as well. Not to mention all his work recording other band in his Apartment 2 Recordings. But yeah, he's been a busy man, busy busy busy man. But either way, KEEP THEM COMING TOPAN! So this tape starts out with a untitled track from Topan. Really cool, really.. not drony, not noisy, not.. I don't know. Just all together creative experimental guitar genius. Kind of spacy, kind of one of those things you listen to at 4AM while doing nothing. Working on a painting or drawing or a sculpture or even doing some writing. If you're not familiar with Topan Das's work. This would be a good start and I recommend checking out some of his other bands as well. Fuck The Facts (Grindcore) & Merdarahta (Spacey drone?) Now the Takashi Ohkawa side. I'm not entirely familiar with Takashi Ohkawa. Dark, scraping, harshness while still being slightly on the ambient side. Harsh experimental noise is what I would probably have called it back in the day. But all the genres are and names are changing for shit each and every fucking year. So I don't know really what the fuck to call it any more. This is the kind I used to love back when I was in high school and was up late at night drawing or doing nothing. Working on some sort of artistic project though. Fucking awesome shit right here. This split release is something really worth tracking down if you're into the whole experimental/ noise thing. You can find the tape on Puzzle Records for €3 EUR or more. So look it up, buy a tape, and listen to it.
“The Black Album” This is quite possibly one of the most interesting experimental/ ambient releases I've heard in a while. The beginning of the album it makes you feel lost in complete darkness. A real eery/ creepy dark ambient sort of feeling too it, really fucking cool. Halfway through it begins to take you out of that absolute darkness and to a slightly lighter less intense side. I wish I knew what "Ledeni Blud" translates to. That's about where it starts taking you into a lighter territory. And "Heart Factory", the next track. That one is pretty much a techno track. Or what ever genre of electronic music it is that is dance floor friendly. But meh, oh well. By the end you are just drifter, letting it take you where ever it is that it wants you to go. Kind of a headfuck album, but it still keeps you on a journey through your thoughts. It's an album that I feel needs to have the highest recommendations to check out. It's best listened to late at night/early morning when you're having hard time keeping your eyes open. Or you woke up from a messed up dream and can't go back to sleep. Either or those two situations work wonders for this album. About the only problem I have with this is that I can't seem to figure out where to find a CD, vinyl, tape, or anything. Or if there is even anything available. So as things stand right now you may have to do to bandcamp and download a copy there. Which I do recommend doing. Not to mention it's a free download as of right now as well. So go to bandcamp, look it up, and check it out if you're into the whole experimental dark ambient thing. This transmission: Out

So I meant to put this in the last issue of Archiv Hate. But as things went along, I got busy and spaced it. So time to give it another go and put it in this issue.
So I guess Relapse Records finally released a decent album this year. It's about damn time! Hah!! Just kidding. There have been a few decent ones this year. But I'm just not too impressed with Relapse these days. They're not like they were back in the mid 90's. I know, growth, change, blah blah blah..
I don't remember when I first discovered this album. But as the days/ months have gone on since my discovery of it. It's grown into being one of my favorite releases of 2014.
In a way of describing it, imagine if Alcest never gave up being a more intense black metal band. I guess this is what they would sound like if the black metal aspect of Alcest never really changed. Don't get me wrong though. Oubliette and Alcest have completely different sounds from one another. And to compare the two are doing kind of doing them both a complete injustice. So just ignore what I wrote the last few sentence. In fact I am completely short on words right now that could give this album justice at all right now. Beautifully intense and precisely/ perfectly written blackened death metal from I believe Tennessee. An album that deserves more than just one listen to in order to take it all in. If you ever happen to find yourself sitting around late at night/ early morning working on homework. Or even doing nothing of importance at all and there is a rain/thunderstorm passing over you. (As how I found myself listening to it one night/morning.) This album is perfect for moments such as that.
Awww the good old days of death metal. But anyway, this one isn't death metal at all. If you haven't heard this yet. It's an interesting mix of folk, black metal, and more folk. I really dig on this but then I've been on a Neo-Folk kick these days for some reason. But anyway less about my wanking. If you don't know anything about this band. It's a single female black metal project. And damn she does an amazing job on this album. An amazing mix of both blast beats and folk songs. The song that stood out to me the most was "Latvian Fegurð". Mostly because I know I've heard it before being sung by some other Swedish folk band or something. But I kind of forget since it was a couple years ago when I heard it.
But back to Myrkur. This is an album that so far hasn't gotten old for me and I've had it on repeat for about two days now. An album really worth looking into if you're into black metal and you haven't yet. Or if you're looking for a new twist on folk music.
I highly HIGHLY recommend checking this album out.
I can't recommend checking this album out enough. Lots of sounds, lots of singing, lots of bad ass as well.
I couldn't seem to find any vinyl for this release. So I believer there are only CD's and digital downloads available for it. The CD is available via The Artisan Era Merchandise for $8 US. And the digital download you can look them up on Bandcamp.
You can stream this on bandcamp, you can stream a video on Relapse's website. And you can find videos on Mykur's facebook page as well.So look it up and check it out.
So yeah, look this up, give it a listen, and enjoy.
It's been released on Relapse so I'm guessing there is vinyl available for it.
Order a CD or record also.
Cheers!

“Messe pour un chien” So I'm sitting around being bored on Facebook. Like how I usually am when I discover something of interest that needs to be shared with EVERYONE. Well everyone that cares anyway. So I'm sitting around being bored not really wanting to play Candy Crush like usual. But eventually giving in and playing anyway. I get done with that and scroll down my news feed to see what I've missed, if anything. I didn't miss much. Just the usually banter from various "news" sites as always. A few videos that I need to check out but I usually always forget about them and never do. Friends babbling on about this that and the other. Various bands telling me that I need to check out their latest video or album. And a few other music pages telling me I need to check out that band or this band or another band posted from another page. But from all those bands that I was told that I needed to check out only one of them stood out more than the others to me for some reason. THIS ONE! I don't know why I needed to check it out. All I knew is that I should probably check this one out for some reason. So I did, and DAMN! This is a bad ass solid release. I was quite blown away by it. I know it's not the usual that I listen to. It's not experimental, noise, grindcore, black metal, death metal, or even shoegaze versions of doom. It's just some kick ass bad fucking ass doom. Kind of more on the stoner side which really isn't my thing. But that's okay, I can live with that with this one.
Of all the albums I've told you about this year. This one needs to be listened to. If you like your doom just that, doom. I highly recommend you go out look it up and buy it. But since most of their pages are written in French. I'm not sure where you can find it though since most of their pages I found it on is in french and mon français est horrible. (I had to google translate that so you can see how horrible it is.) So I'm not sure what record label this will be found on. All I can say is go to their facebook page and bandcamp page. I know the CD is available on the bandcamp page for €10 EUR. So yeah, look it up, buy a copy of the CD, and enjoy.
Go to their facebook page and like that one also. And there was another one that I needed to go over also and edit/redo. But damn it, I forgot which one. Oh well, fuck it. Anyway, another review for you. Damn, we've been a bunch of slack asses on this one.
Split Hmmm, it's 4:30 AM, what do I want to listen to? I KNOW! I'll listen to the Rorcal/Process of Guilt split. I haven't listened to it enough as of late. The Rorcal side is blinding crazy blackened hardcore insanity (which seems to be the craze these days) from Geneva, Switzerland. I've been checking them out every once in a while for about a year now. Gotta love it when a bands releases are for the most part completely different from their other releases. The Rorcal side sounds nothing like their earlier work with is more on the doom side of things. It's an intense three songs though. Not for those that value their ear drums. It's best listened to as loud as possible. The Process of Guilt side is more in the doom world. I'm not entirely familiar with anything from them. This release is actually the first time I've ever heard them. More on the crustier side of the doom/ sludge side of things. Really cool shit. This is the side that I end up listening to the most. All 3 songs on this side all fade into the next track. I always loved it when bands do stuff like that for some reason. But that's just me and my love for all things doom. An album really worth looking up and buying a copy of. You can find the vinyl via Lost Pilgrims Records for â‚Ź12.90 EUR (or more). So go look it up, buy a copy. You won't regret it. I know I haven't and I've been listening to it quite a bit lately as well.
“Nomadic So the other day I was sitting around doing what I usually do. Nothing. Well, nothing of any importance anyway. But I got digging around on various record labels seeing what's going to be coming out with them in the near future. I noticed that Svart Records had released some stuff that I had missed over the past couple months. There were reissues of old releases from bands that haven't really done anything in a while. But then there was this one. So of course, me being me. I had to check it out. It's a really cool and really interesting release. I don't really know how to describe it since I'm not really too familiar with the world of free jazz and those that are involved with it. About all I can really say about it is that it's a release that is really worth a listen if you're sick of black metal, doom metal and all the other stuff I'm telling you to check out.. As well as all the other different genres and sub-genres that a person in the underground music scenes listen to. It's kind of slower, kind of up beat at moments, in a way slightly melanholic but not really. It's weird, I don't really know how to describe it. Slightly melancholic groove jazz. Not really too much groove though, just enough at the right moments to keep things tied together. It's an album that just needs to be listened to. I'm guessing some hashish would probably be good to enjoy with this as well. But if that's not your thing that's cool, it can be enjoyed without substances just was well. So yeah, go to Svart Records and look it up. Give it a listen and see what you think of it. It's definitely worth checking out and buying a copy.

“Doom Dance Doom from Indonesia? Hmm, I think I need to check this out. And that's what I thought when I first saw this on one of them webpagesites dedicated to nothing but doom. I'm actually quite glad I did check this out. And once again another one of those releases from earlier this year that slipped by me.
A highly recommended release to look up, check out, and buy a CD. You can find it via Sonic Funeral Records for $7 US. As of right now I don't think there is any vinyl available though. So if you're one of those snobs that only buys vinyl. I think you might be shit out of luck on this one.
Not normally the type of doom I listen to since it's a little more up-beat and I guess happy sounding. If you've payed attention to my reviews in the past issues of Archiv Hate at all. You will know I mostly listen to not happy dissonant pissed at the world for being alive doom.
But yeah, available on CD and digital download. So look it up and buy a copy.
But this.. this is just grabs you by the balls and say's, "Fuck you for being pissed at the world. Here, smoke some weed and drink a few beers. Things will be A-O-K!" It's kind of one of those albums that would probably go over great in a gathering of friends and the meeting of new friends environment. Or getting some housework, cleaning and what not done. It's a really great stoner doom release.
From of all places, Indonesia. Matiasu being from Indonesia kind of threw me off gaurd. I know there is a big punk, black, and death metal scene down there. But I was unaware of the doom scene down that way. I really shouldn't be that surprised though since Indonesia really isn't that far from Australia. And I know there is a burgeoning doom scene down there. I must say though, I'm quite impressed with this release so far. And I really think I need to look up more bands from down that way.

We hate lists, but we hail the greatest. We are horrible people, but our taste in music is perfect. It might be not safe for life, but these eight kingdoms of hell shows how mahoosive impact on persons life it can make. No one else is good enough, just kill us all one by one. - gates – - beast - fire – - inferno – - anarchy – - sacrament – - spirit – - loyalty –
8 Kingdoms of Hell
-gates -
The Atlas Moth “The Old Believer”
This creation is an old believer prophecy to a dark music world. It will drag you to the gates of hell to confess your sins, your blood will tell if you are ready to put your own soul on this. “The Old Believer” unique water-reveal cover was created by Invisible Creature, its gives additional value to this masterpiece - cover changes into a totally different image once immersed in water. I licked it.. because of the cover! It’s a killer album!
-beast -
Vilkacis “The Fever of War
The stalker that will haunt you in hell. Insane thing, declaring war on everything. Bleeding fists, punch after the punch, will whack your teeth in. Only one recommendation to all of you, just turn volume controller to 666 mark and let this beast eat you alive!

Odota “Fever Marshal”
One more unique album to be added to this annual purge. “Fever Marshal” is a hell-fire, that cauterize our underground brothers and sisters. Created by Jarmo Nuutre (also in Blood Pavilion, Skull Trading, Hjem) and released digitally just a few weeks ago. Jarmo Nuutre is a quite unique person for sure! Once I met him right after the gig he played here in my land, he told me that he wants to buy the hearse (a car that carry the dead bodies), to get the feeling being closer to death. There’s no doubt, Mr. One Man Metal has found his corpse transporter called Odota, the God alike fire breathing machine! Excellent stuff!
-inferno -
Thou “Heathen”
Hell awakens, your highness! Everything is dead and that is how it should be.. For me this album like the movie "Sheitan“ left the impression where I wanted to be in a public, and yet at the same time I did not wanted to live in this kind of hell. Total madness & there’s definitely marks of supremacy in it, it’s a space and time ruler. Superior sacrifice and exposure to this call - we are the spark that lights the inferno!
-anarchy -
Lord Mantis “Death Mask”
There’s nothing about God in this record. A crusader that marching through the dead forests of hell where everything is covered in ashes. Profound mist, as if everything is still burning - cold cruelty and apathy is what it hides. I always listen to "Three Crosses" in those moments when my world seems to collapse. The "world" here is more like my personal soul, and this album torn me to pieces - my flesh cries, it craves anarchy.. rebirth of the soul..
-sacrament -
Downfall Of Gaia “Aeon Unveils The Thrones Of Decay” Who told that God's voice is soft and pleasant? Probably we just don’t recognize it. This is it, a broken dialog with God, that’s all you have, a price of the past. You try to reconnect, but your mind parasites are pulling you back.. All the way back to the psychopathic underground. At first it is like a promise – sacrament, that will release your soul from sin. Then your eyes turn black, your heart becomes black, you become as darkness.
-spirit -
Indian “From All Purity”
Masterminds at Indian took it a step further, picked up riffs straight from the hell for the infinite brutal rape of darkness. “From All Purity” will cut your arms wide open, with veins hanging out from the wounds like a broken strings. It will take your final breath. That’s the spirit!
-loyalty -
Funerary “Starless Aeon”
Failure of light.. like a compliment to the perfect dark, it screams “I’m loyal to hell, I’m the king of everything!”
