If you can see, the numbers all go to eleven! Kings, Caesars and Legends are the main topics that we discuss at #11 series of Archiv Hate interview zine. I had a great time reading and rereading epic lines from interviews that has been contributed to all previous 10 zine series, I followed my friend advice about “zine special series” and had included most important ones into the following pages. Believe me, those people, bands & artists are legends to me as well as you. No way I could do this by my own! Olaf Schindler’s lost cover finds its way back, sorry bro for the mess! Edvins Murans doing great visuals. Danial Gambler at its best – 666 reviews. Morgan Gleave heavy roots from Ruke album recording session in the woods. Arturs Vilmanis – mspaint and some words.

Matej Pećar of Croatian black-metal act Pogavranjen is surprisingly open and brave enough to say what he thinks with kinda existential nihilism approach. His post to Killer Be Killed super-band Facebook page proves it .. “awful band. pls stop”. Does the band followed his advice & disbanded? Soak your brains deep into these lines of truth. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT NOWADAYS METAL MUSIC? WE'LL TALK ABOUT IT AS A CLASSIC (AFTER SOME 666 YEARS) OR METAL MUSIC IS CURRENTLY BEING NOBLE WHICH WILL END WITH THE IGNOMINIOUS DEATH? Haha well yeah but pls, gimme a break - they had it coming! Their existence is nothing but a provocation towards anything that is still beautiful about rock/ metal/ extreme music – call it what you will. That band is 100% pure rubbish conducted with the one and sole reason of making money. I could understand it if it was another pop boy band… but after giving some thought into it, “metal” scene plays pretty much the same game as pop industry these days. IT IS another pop boy band! I’m sick of it you know. I’m not some kind of traditionalist in any sense, but I would flatten that entire mountain of steaming horse shit pop-metal industry and give it a go from the start. You know the days, when you make a record, do some shirts and win hearts of the people because you make GREAT MUSIC, not
because you have GREAT PR. Most of the bands, whose careers span over 20 or 30 years did much better in their formative years and made much, much better music than these days and they had nothing but fanzines and fans. Some are still true to their couse, like Asphyx for instance. So yeah, if anyone asked me I would retaliate in the most nuclear way and exterminate such pieces of shit. Magazines like Terrorizer or Metal Hammer as well. Fuck man. Feels like I am going thru H&M autumn/winter collection catalog. And bands they cover… 99% boring, generic, docile, sterile, no heart, no balls modern clones signed by mostly mainstream labels that pay for their “95% ALBUM OF THE MONTH” reviews… if not that than reunion of the bands who are out for cash after 15 or 20 years hiatus. Fuck that shit! Makes me vomit, metal became comfort zone music, nothing dangerous about it, nothing rebellious - so fuck modern metal. Hail ’85.’92. underground! I still listen sometimes to Croatian contemporary rock/metal bands if I have any constipation problems, after a song or two I hit toilette like a viking berserker. I feel mostly sickening resent or absolute indifference (on my good days) towards nowadays metal music.
TELL US ABOUT POGAVRANJEN IN WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN INVOLVED.. SINCE WHEN? HOW DID YOU ALL UNITE UNDER THIS NAME AND HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE WHAT YOU DO? I have always loved the black metal vibe beyond the ability of describing it with words. It was always my favorite musical genre. With the passing of years I pretty much channeled and focused that specific black metal strain in which I decided to partake. My good friend and me, as we grew in friendship, we also wanted to play some music again, since at time Pogavranjen was formed we were practically bandless. He was in sludge band that split up and I was in doom band that was in the process of splitting up. So we felt like a fresh start. And that was it. We still remain backbone of the band, I’m doing all the riffs, he is a great writer and conjures up some awesome lyrics plus he was doing all the artwork so far since he is the one of the, if not THE BEST Croatian tattoo artist, so we have practically everything covered. I’m not sure what he would say on his part but since I am answering these questions right now I can speak for myself. Pogavranjen is my vessel of hatred, disgust, scorn and abominable nausea towards the world of modern man, in most cases the
very shithole country in which we dwell. It is my banner of provocation and trouble making child whom I adore. And I hate. Sometimes. But I try to come up with the sickest riffs, tunes and melodies I can. I never write music by sitting down and jerking on the guitar waiting for something good to come out of it. I always hear the music in my head before and I try to channel it thru the guitar than. I often dream riffs and songs too but I mostly forget them sadly. It is hard to say what is Pogavranjen. It’s more than band for sure. It’s a huge part of my psyche. BEING AS A BAND; IMPORTANCE OF THE DIY, WHERE THEY RECORD CD-R OR CASSETTES, DISTRIBUTE THEM, WORKING ON THE ARTWORK AND MERCH? I used to deal with that PR shit since I have always felt this band was mine for the biggest part. I grew apathetic to that these days. The only thing that I am really interested in is seeing record taken care of and made thru since the inception of first riff till the final master version. I am not interested in anything else. I don’t care if anyone would listen to it, I don’t care if anyone will like it, I don’t care to talk about it anymore or anything. Usually

just a minimum of input in everything besides music itself. I make music because I have to, not because I want to. It’s like overeating you know, you eat more than you can because food would spoil otherwise, in this case, the music I hear in my head I feel it would be great shame if we haven’t recorded it. And I’m glad we did. Cuz in the end of the day it feels good to have something 100 levels above the most shit you hear from all around the world today. IT’S ALL ABOUT ALBUM COVERS! POGAVRANJEN CHANGED THE CONCEPT OF ARTWORK. WHO DEVELOPED EARLIER ONES AND WHY DID YOU DECIDED NOT TO PROCEED WITH THE “ART” CONCEPT? Our vocalist Ivan Eror did everything so far. Yeah it changed a bit from a primitive to more complex. As we evolve our sound, he also pushes himself with art concept each time. You know, Pogavranjen is all about pushing thru the next limit. If I ever feel we did the same thing again, I’ll disband it. I hate stagnation. I want to see my music hitting places where it becomes unbearable even for me to understand it or even like it. I want it to explode in the twist of chaos, insanity and formlessness. That’s one of the reasons we decided to go with a
photo for the cover of our latest album “Sebi Jesi Meni Nisi”. That photograph has a mission. When you look at it it has to say to you “Hay you beautiful person, how about NO!, FUCK YOU!, move on, this is not an album for you..” Or something like that. I also wanted to offend as many black metalers I can, since here in Croatia these are the worst kind of scum involved in the crappiest possible bands. Only Croatian stoner rock bands manage to be even bigger crap. Metal scene here in Croatia is one wretched and sorrowful pit of boring and shameful horseshit. IT LOOKS LIKE I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO REPAIR MY VINYL PLAYER, BUT I HAVE A SMALL COLLECTION OF ALBUMS; AGOG ON FIRE WHEN I WILL BE ABLE TO LISTEN TO THEM! WHAT YOU ASSOCIATE WITH VINYL LISTENING? I am not a collector myself. I don’t mind digital medias at all. I listen to the music sitting or lying on a couch, eyes closed mostly. Couldn’t care less if it was vinyl, cassette, cd, mp3, mp4 or mp5... I demand only shivers and goose bumps from it. Everything else is less important in my case. To each his own. I am not interested in collecting anything. I aim to leave this world just as naked
as I entered it. But with less noise I hope. POGAVRANJEN FREQUENTLY MEET TO PLAY LIVE? I just hate playing live. The only thing good about it is free booze and drinking backstage with people I love. Therefore I only accept gigs when we are to play with a band we know closely and love dearly. That’s the only thing that makes it bearable. Otherwise I’d never climb a stage. Music is too private for me to share it with other people. I don’t even go to big shows or festivals for that very reason. We play every few months. I don’t like leaving my apartment very much you know. PLAYING IN A BAND AND REGULARLY ATTENDING CONCERTS YOU HAVE THE ADVANTAGE OF MORE OFTEN THAN OTHERS TO MEET THEIR OWN LEGENDS. YOU SAID THAT ONCE MET SCOTT KELLY!? Yeah. It was a really big thing for me. I saw Scott live few times before, but the last time I finally went to talk to him a bit. That evening was perfect and I was never more proud of being a part of the best audience I have ever seen. It was a sitting event. The hall was packed with emotions and it felt otherworldly. I am addicted to sad, melancholic and lethargic music and that
was my Christmas day so to say. I was listening to his latest album for like 2 months straight every single day at least once. Hearing those songs live backed up by his massive and impactful energy was something beyond my capability to explain in verbal way. So after the gig we all shook hands and it was a free hug, brotherly-love fest. Hahah. I remember telling him “Scott, this felt like a church tonight, but in a best possible way.” He lolled hard and replied with kind thank you. My friends and me - we talked to them for the best part of the evening after the show and we were really sad when they had to go… Whole band… such a humble guys. They smile, but you can see their souls and hearts were crushed by the life itself more than once.. You can’t fake it. It’s a thing to be felt. So yeah. Last time seeing him live was something I’ll treasure forever. A true legend. Johnny Cash of my era. Hail Scott Kelly! BY THE WAY, WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE ALBUM OF 2014 SO FAR? Might be easily Vallenfyre’s 2nd full length “Splinters”, a mix of old school doom/death goodness. It’s a band of Hammy from My Dying Bride, Mackintosh from Paradise Lost and Adrain Erlandson who needs no further

introduction, I think. New Opeth record is very high on my list as well. But it has one song I don’t like and I wasn’t expecting that from an Opeth album hahaha. And I am really looking forward to the next The Wretched End album. It’s a great death metal act powered by none other than the riff-machine Samoth himself. Mayhem’s “Esoteric Warfare” is something that still grows on me, I like it more and more, but it will never be able to win “Ordo ad Chao” which is THE BEST black metal album I’ve heard so far in my life. That one is pure hell of human skull interior. I WISH YOU TO BECOME A LEGEND! There can only be one legend Legend of Zelda!

BIZARRE TITLE WITH NO NECESSITY TO DESCRIBE ITS MEANING TO THE LATVIAN CROWD. HOW DID YOU PICK THIS NAME AND WHAT’S THE ATTITUDE FROM ABROAD AUDIENCE DOES PEOPLE SHOW CURIOSITY ABOUT THE MEANING BEHIND THE BRAND NAME?
comparing to nowadays complete shithole movies.
It’s just a name, you know, everything has started as a joke. Looking back in 2012 when RIGA brand shirts were in vogue.. I wanted something else, something that differs from majority taste so they can shit their pants, this is how PEŠA (*pussy, cunt) Customs were made. No curiosity from abroad though.
CUSTOMIZED LEATHER BAGS, WALLETS AND BELTS ARE NOT THE ONLY CREATIONS WHAT YOU OFFER. AS I UNDERSTAND, YOU ARE ALSO KEEN ON MOTORCYCLES & SKATEBOARDING. WITH WHAT IT ALL BEGAN FOR PEŠA?
YOUR CREATION HAVE A STRONGER, I MIGHT EVEN SAY, A POISE GRIP. YOUR CREATIVITY IS A FAMILY LEGACY? In those archaic days we all were masters of something, because every single thing were repaired, restored, made, remade and there was no waste, rather than now when something breaks, yeah, let’s don't give a fuck and buy a new one. As far as I can remember myself, all the time I created something because there was nothing to do; no internet, sex magazines was rare and there was nothing on TV in general, ok on rare occasion there was Indian films showed with Gojko Mitić starring, he’s a neat guy
YOU'RE LIKE METAL MUSIC TERROR TO CHRISTIANS, BUT ONLY YOUR OPPONENTS ARE VEGANS AND GREEN? Maybe, I do not know, this has not affected me.
I’ve been engaged with motorcycles for 17 years already, apart from childhood but that does not count. Couple are purchased, some restored & some built, I have about 15 rides and I guess that there will be more. Most of the time I am busy doing all kind of repairs for the board sports equipment - winter (ski and snowboard) and summer (surf, kite, kitesurfing) boards, concentrating more on the winter equipment since personally being in snowboard for solid 20 years. I've witnessed snowboarding world evolution and was a part of this culture here in Latvia when it all began. I was a part of the Latvian junior team in several competitions and I can proudly say that 99% of Latvian snowboarders knows me as a snowboard master.
DOES THE LOCATION OF PEŠA CREATIVE OFFICE/ HEADQUARTER IS AFFECTING YOUR CREATIVITY? DOES THE LATVIAN MENTALITY HAS ALWAYS BEEN SO LOUD AND FULL OF "WELDERS" SPIRIT? PEŠA headquarters currently is located in my basement between motorcycles, lathes, milling and welding machines and other equipment, everything is in one place, so this might be the reason why PEŠA style is rude, and I’m really creating stuff I like, what the fuck do I need other stuff for? HOW DO YOU PREFER TO START YOUR DAY, WHAT DO YOU DO FIRST? CRANK A MOTORCYCLE, ADJUST SOMETHING LOOSENED OR BOLTED, OR JUST CREATE SOMETHING FROM LEATHER? FAPPING!! ha ha ha ha, if it’s good assembled then it rides and there is nothing to be screwed on a daily basis, just fill in the tank and pedal to the metal. As for the skin, I create things only when receiving orders, it does not make sense - to make and put on the shelf.. if only I want to create something exclusive or a stupid idea that springs to mind.
bobbers. As for the daily rider I have the MOTO MORINI 1954 enduro, pretty good around the town.
WHAT LINKS YOU SHARE WITH “LOKAL HOME”? With LOKAL HOME.. they’ll are the snowboarders, good guys, doing their thing, making fucking good boards! WHAT'S IN YOUR MUSIC PLAYER? I love Russian music, and coarser the better - LENINGRAD, DDT, SPLINT, COIS KINO, SEKTOR GAZA, GARIGS SUKAČOV, MEGAPOLIS etc. Russian rock and of course Radio NABA, sadly now it has stopped on the radio because of the asshole T.Grēviņš. From the Latvian – PND (*punks not dead), ZAĶIS (*rabbit), SEPTIŅI PIEAUGUŠI VĪRIEŠI (*seven adult men) and others. From overseas - The Tiger Lillies, DEPECHE MODE, IGGY POP and other shit. That's all. PEŠA Customs.
WHAT STYLE OF BIKES YOU LIKE? I love old bikes because they are beyond any style, especially cross, scrambler or

HEAVY ROOTS Trees are amazing. The old ones hold centuries of knowledge, having stood as silent guardians around the globe in forests, woods and copses. Trees are rooted deep in mythology. Norse myth (which predates Christianity by many years) sees Odin the All-Father crucified on the mighty Yggdrasil, an ancient Ash tree for days upon end until almost dead to achieve a state of awareness and enlightenment. Yggdrasil is said to have its roots in Hell and its branches in Heaven, and is connected to the nine worlds of Norse mythology. Trees hold power and are powerful. They can withstand decades of wind and rain, sun and snow, standing tall and proud and growing. Trees are tough and arrogant at times, like giant wooden middle fingers to the worst the elements can throw at them. Trees resonate with music, especially heavy music. They are used to make guitars and other instruments. The guitar, when electrified is the sun which most other instruments orbit in heavy rotation. Trees are seen in heavy music through videos, covers, posters, tee-shirts and more. Trees are rooted in the sounds that we adore and worship.

Through the gates left open. From the paths unknown. Came three unholy bastards.. Well, DÖ is way more better than Black Sabbath. Because fuck you, that’s why.
ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE HEAVY METAL BANDS THAT FREELY AND OPENLY DEALING WITH THE TERROR AGAINST CHRISTIANITY IDEALS AND VALUES? Well...yes and no. We're atheists, so we shouldn't need to give a fuck about any gods or satans per se. But since the effects of religions simply cannot be avoided, Christianity, and basically any religion for all that matter, end up to our black list. But at least we're fair, we hate everything and everyone equally. WHEN YOU FIRST DEVELOPED RELATIONSHIP WITH DARK & COLD WORLD OF METAL? The moment when we entered this cold, harsh, bizarre world. Not all three at the same time, of course, or did we? It could have also been the moment decades ago, when bands like KISS, WASP and Twisted Sister gave each of us a mule kick into guts, dragged us into a pit of sensation of danger and slaved us with their untaimed power. Our relationship with metal has been blooming ever since. And now we have DÖ as our very own gang bang with darkness. WHO IS YOUR LEGEND AND WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME AS DÖ? We have no gods. We bow no legends. DÖ was born through black magic and unnatural alchemy, where three ingredients mixed, and formed into an unholy ritual of purification by sweat, alcohol and ear crushing, neck breaking soundwaves.
EVERYTHING MUST BE DESTROYED IN ORDER TO FULFILL WITH THE NEW AND DĂ– IS A SUCCESSOR. IT SOUNDS AS HEARD, BUT THE TECHNIQUE & APPROACH HAS A NEW CONTEXT; THERE IS A PRESENCE OF DEATH, BUT IT FEELS SO ALIVE! Thanks man! Our music also has a strong stench of death after few hours of playing at our rehearsal dungeon. Maybe we should call this "zombie doom"? But anyways, yeah, there's no doubt that we sound like something familiar. It's because we all have a bit different
background in music, so we can easily take stuff from various places, tear them apart, stuff 'em into our kiln and make our own blend of metal to be used as a shield against all the crap surrounding us. IT IS ALL ABOUT THE BEAST THAT TRY TO ERUPT OUT OF YOUR HUMAN SHELL? Definitely. It's just the matter how you control it - if do you even want to. Our beasts are kept in small cages made out of strings playing heavy riffs and fuzzed low frequencies. Oh, and we beat
them with drumsticks to make 'em vicious. They guide us to the dark, mystical places from where we dig up inspiration to our music. But believe us, don't want to see them running free. IN THIS COMPLEX WORLD MUSIC KEEPS US AT A YOUNG AGE, WHEN LIFE IS DANGEROUSLY OUT OF CONTROL. BECOMING A LEGEND AND SUFFOCATE IN THEIR VOMIT IS A WORTHY DEPARTURE FROM THE MODERN LIFE? Choking on your own vomit is for amateurs. Real tough guys choke on
someone else's puke. Or guess what's even cooler way to go? Spontaneous human combustion! WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLDS FOR DÖ? Hate to break it to you, but we don't have a future. No one does. But the good news is, that we'll be writing a killer soundtrack for the final days. And needless to say, we'll drink some beer and rum, and post idiotic stuff to social media, while at it.

“Cursed Breath/Innocent Blood Split After a couple listens of this I've come to the conclusion that this is an insanely bad fucking ass release. "superbly insanely fucking bad ass." as I was telling a friend earlier today. I have to say that I'm not entirely familiar with Slaves BC even though one of Archiv Hate's writers is in the band. Sorry about that guys. I've heard them on a couple compilations a time or two though. The best way I can think of to describe their sound for those that aren't familiar with them at all is probably blackened hardcore crust from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Insane, intense, mean, and pissed at the world. Fucking amazing shit. This asshole really fucking digs them, and so should you. Grace And Thieves I guess are from Salem, Oregon. But I guess I would describe more of as just hardcore. Kind of more in the Bloodlet vein of hardcore. Reminds me or a lot of the stuff that was coming out in the mid 90's in the hardcore world. Back when Victory Records and a few other record labels from back in the day were worth giving a shit about. Fucking catchy riffs, a break down or two with some up beat moments as well. Stuff that the more you listen to it, the more you like it, and the more it makes you just want to dance your ass off. All in all, if I were to give this release a grade. It would be an A+. As far as buying this record. There are multiple colours of vinyl available via Veritas Vinyl LLC. Although I guess the grey vinyl is already sold out. So you're shit out of luck on that one.
Or you can buy the digital on bandcamp also, if that's how you roll. Or even maybe a record store or two near you has a copy available as well. Either way though, do your happy asses a favour and track this album down and buy it.

Normally I'm a huge fan of noise/ experimental music. For some reason I'm having a hard time with this one. I just can't seem to take it seriously with this release. This one just feels a little too up beat and happy for me.
This was originally recorded last year. Their finally release and I guess good by to the world or something. I was actually originally supposed to put this review up in the last issue of Archiv Hate. But due to space issues that didn't happen. So we'll put it up in this one.
The whole time listening to this I can't help but think I need some ironically tight pants, an ironically catchy tshirt, and a beard while wearing a beanie during midsummer 90 degree weather. At least that's what I was thinking while listening to the first song. Even though most of it is shit to me. The last three songs aren't too bad. They're a little bit more on the Throbbing Gristle side of things and I can did on that. The first little bit of it though, meh...I can live with out it. I was expecting a little bit more from this for some reason since I found it via Flenser Records. But instead I got a million and one ways to talk shit. And even then I'm still having a hard time wanting to put together words to talk shit. If you're still in say high school or first year college and looking for more avant garde or noise music. This would be a good place to start I guess.
If I was still in my late teens/ early 20's I would totally dig on it. But I'm not much of a kid anymore I guess. I'm just a grumpy old bastard or some shit now. Musically this is more of an interesting mix of emo/ noise/ hardcore/ punk/ what ever else they decide to put in mix. It's not bad it's just one of those things I have to be in the mood to listen to. And these days I haven't really been that much in the mood to listen to much of this kind of stuff. It's worth checking out though. You can probably find this on any distro website if you want to buy it. The promo I got for it says it released through MeatCube in Seattle. There have been multiple reviews that I've seen for this over the past couple months. So it probably shouldn't be too hard to find. Look it up and check it out.

“Beyond All Light” Some time back I was digging around on the interwebs again just looking around at various sights seeing what I can see. I came across this gem. Holy fucking bad ass black metal! I have a hard time believing that this came out of Louisville, Kentucky. The intensity of this release sounds like it came out of far north of Norway. I've found some cool shit before. But this one, this one steps way out there and above a lot of the others. Fierce intensity is all I can really say about this one. I really am at a loss for words on what else to say. Black metal to be held in the highest of standards of some of the greats that have been released over the past 20 years. This is a release that has to be listened to. I was looking on their web page and there are some CD's available. Or you can order a cassette on their bandcamp page also. The cassette is available through Yehonala Tapes. I would do what ever you can to get either a CD or a cassette. It appears as though the vinyl is sold out for the time being. At least when I looked on their web page it was. It may have changed by the time this review comes to press. But this is one of those releases I highly recommend checking out and buying. Don't believe me? Check it out and prove me wrong.
“Got No Soul” Hmmmmm, how the hell to describe this one? This one if fucking amazing. One of the top albums for me so far from 2014. All the tracks are completely different from one another. 3 songs in total though. But each of them different than the one before. The first one is kind of droning noisy industrial instramental sludge of doom, way fucking cool. The second one kind of Ministry/Godflesh like industrial, really fucking cool. The third one kind of experimental/ ambient (some people might consider it drone), beyond fucking cool. All in all this is one of those albums a person like myself just can't get enough of. One that I highly recommend checking out and buying. Probably the coolest thing is the way they describe the cassette that it's released on. "limited cassette, partly recycled form religious releases of all sorts“. For some reason I just think that is beyond way cool. This is a release that just makes me happy!
I think the only way you can find this though is on their bandcamp page. I tried looking them up on the web looking for other ways to contact them. But so far all I could find was bandcamp. The cassette is available for $4 USD or more and they'll get it to you ASAP. So yeah, look it up, listen to it, and buy a copy.
“Ill Weathers” I've been asked to review a lot of stuff over the past little while. Now that the next issue of my review section is about due. I'm just now finally getting off my ass and writing up the reviews. Yay for being a lazy slack ass mother fucker! One of the ones that I was asked to write up was this one, "Council Of Rats - Ill Weathers". A quality release from a band hailing from Milan, Italy. It totally takes me back to when I was in high school and just getting back into the punk/ hardcore thing. I don't really know how to describe this album other than hardcore/ punk. More on the punk side than hardcore depending on your definition of hardcore. The scene has changed quite a bit since I was listening to it back in the mid 90's. Lots of little sub genres and sub names of those sub genres for every fucking thing. But anyway, this is a quality album. I totally fucking dig it. I can't really think of any bands off hand that it would remind me of. All I can say is that this is an album that you need to track down and buy. As far as buying it goes. I'm sure any quality webstore has the vinyl. Or you can order it from ADAGIO 830. The ADAGIO 830 webstore has a lot of other bad ass releases available on vinyl, CD and Cassette also. There is also the usual bandcamp page for a digital version as well. So do what you got to do. Just get a copy of it. Cheers yo!
“Crucifixion” I was digging around one day looking to see what I can find and I came across this this little monster. Some noise/ experimental that is probably one of the finest releases of that genre I've heard in a while. It actually sounds like something I would come up with if I were still producing noise/ experimental music. This is some really great stuff here.
It's just dark enough and disturbing enough to keep me content. Sometimes with bands like this you tend to get bored with the album about half way through. Not this one. It keeps a person entertained and interested the entire 15 or so minutes it's playing. With each track taking you and a different journey through your ownsubconcious of disturbing thoughts of the world and where it's going. This is highly recommended for those that have an interest in Dark Ambient, Noise, and everything else that ventures into the darker realms of the music world. This is a limitied cassette release through Never Dawn Recordings. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any info on where or how to order it. So you may have to go to Never Dawn Recordings or Warground's Facebook page and ask them. There is a digital download available for $2 (CAD) or more on Bandcamp though. So go look it up, listen to it, and buy it. Just remember, this is NOT HAPPY MUSIC.

I was told this is some raw punk from Philly. It definitely is raw. It definitely is punk. It also definitely kind of cool.
This is one of those ones that I've have been meaning to write about for a while now. But you know, sometimes live doesn't always work out the way you want it.
Takes me back to when one of my cousins sent me a mix tape of a bunch of crust, grind, and punk back when I was 17. He recorded that with a tape play next to a set of speakers and a record player. That's just how raw this is. Well not quite that raw but still pretty raw. It kind of sounds like something a person would record with a cassette recorder at a punk show.
It's an excellent split. Not everything is where I want it to be, but that's okay. All in all it's for the most part just a bunch of D-Beat Crust. In particular the Dogma side. Once upon a time this would be a release that I would be dying for back in the early 90's. Not so much anymore. That's not to take anything away from it. I still totally dig on it.
This is something I would highly recommend tracking down and buying. Especially if you're older and you have a hard time giving up those days of being punk as fuck and being a teenager.
This actually kind of reminds me of being around some other crusties and next thing I know after several hours of drinking some booze, we're in a brawl.
About the only way I've found to get it though is either go to their bandcamp page. Or by contacting the band directly: skullfilledwithbatworms@gmail.com
Another highly recommended release. It came out on Moshpit Tragedy so it's a label that never serves anyone wrong. So yeah, find it, buy it, and BE SURE TO LISTEN TO IT.
Or by going to moldcrow.bigcartel.com. Other than that, if you're in the Philly area. Go to one of their shows and buy it that way. Other than that, fuck I don't know. All I can say is. Track them down and get a copy. IT'S PUNK AS FUCK YO!
Wish you all the best and peace out on the rails.

“Roads To The North”
Not always does a person come across a project that is nothing but complete brilliance. Nothing but sheer creative genious. All sounds from what I gather were recorded on a camping trip out in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. Using what ever tools that could be used on hand such as a knives scraping grills, sounds of running water from streams, just anything available on hand.
There are a million and one things to say about this album. But how to put them all together without blabbing your ear off?
Sheer brilliance. But don't think it's just a bunch of bangin on metal objects to be loud and obnxious. This is more of a slow drift dark ambient noise album.
This is probably one of those most interesting and amazing Black Metal albums I've heard in years. It's not your traditionally black metal that is all non-stop blast beats. That's not to say there are no blast beats. It has a lot of those still. But there are moments where it's just completely different than anything you would expect from black metal. It's probably their Kentucky/ southern state heritage or something.
This release takes me someplace in my head that I rarely venture to go. While reading the bio for the past little while concerning the producer, Aaron Edge. I was kind of shocked to discover that he is dealing with MS.
This is an album that has multiple layers and use of I guess traditional American instruments. Like banjos and even a what sounds like a dobros to me also. It's interesting, complex, and doesn't bore you.
That man had a long and productive career writing and working with a multitude of bands. The ones I recognized off hand were Himsa and Grievous. Grievous being a doom band that I used to listen to back in mid - late 2000. Himsa being hardcore that I used to listen to back in the late 90's. - about mid 2000. This album is nothing like either of those bands. Perfect for those late nights lost in your thoughts.
It will make you think, "What the fuck?" with it's moments of bluegrass. But it won't bore you. It's completely different than anything a person would expect from black metal. It's an album that just needs to be good and thoroughly listened to.
An amazing release from an amazing artist that I wish I wouldn't have forgotten about for so long. I remember when he mentioned on MySpace that he was quitting Grievous and starting Hellvetika. I was slightly saddened at the time. But not nearly as saddened as I am now that I rediscovered Hellvetika only to find out that this would be the end. If ever given the opportunity to buy this album. By all means, do what you can to buy it. Right now I've only seen it on Bandcamp. But if you ever see a CD, vinyl, cassette ,whatever. BUY IT!
Probably the best way I can think of listening to it is not at a party. Although that probably wouldn't be too bad though. But more of a sitting around with moments of thought while looking for clarity on life and other things is how it's probably best listened to. It helped me get my first assignment for school done today. But it's an album that demands intense listening to. Besides some of the other albums I've mentioned in past issues and in this one as well. This is definitely going to be on my best of 2014 list. This one I can't help but highly recommend checking out. I'm not sure where to buy this other than on bandcamp or their BigCartel page. I would also check your local independently owned record store as well. This is one of those albums that a person really needs to track down, buy, and give a good and thorough listen to.

“From The Abyss They Rise” This is one of those releases that I've been looking forward to for a month and a half at least now. Non Serviam Records (the label releasing it) released a teaser sample of one of the songs last June and I was blown away and hooked. The fierce intensity of the darkness of this blackened death metal was noncomparable to anything I had heard in a while. And Non Serviam Records is no slouch either. They release some intense shit. But this one, this one just stood out above anything I had heard in a while. The teaser that I heard, holy fuck. It was immediately one of those albums I had to buy when the opportunity came about. I will say you are completely missing out if you ignore this release. The album begins with several new releases and then has some earlier demo recordings. It even has a cover of Emperor's "Thus Spake The Nightspirit". A gift all the way around. A little bio on the band. The band is based out of Norway and has members of 1349, Trollfest, a former member of ABSU and others. So there is a pantheon of metal heavy weights in here. If you love blackened death metal, definitely a release not to be missed out on. It's out on Non Serviam Records, it just came out last August. Look it up, you shouldn't be disappointed.
“In Thy Name” Some blackened crust from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For some reason this is a release I would expect to be released on Profane Existence. But nope, this one came out on Halo of Flies Records and I guess Throatruiner Records in Europe also. It's a really kick ass release. The first song I don't really care for, for some reason. But yeah, some blackened crust that just doesn't let up on the intensity. Unrelenting and non-stop the whole album. Well except for the song "Blood". That one kind of does but that one is it. Other than that. This is all straight up balls out intensity. There is a band I used to listen to back in 2004/'05 that I used to listen to a lot on Proface Existence. But I forgot the name of them. Oh well, fuck it. And Iskra, that's who it is they kind of remind me of for some reason. Anyway, this is one of those ones that a person just needs to buy and listen to, a lot. You can find this record via Halo of Flies Records. Or I guess in Europe via Throatruiner Records also. The promo page I got said Halo Of Flies Records. So I don't know, pic which ever one you prefer. Or do things the way I prefer. Which is go to your local record store and see if they have it. Either way, the record is a clear with black smoke 12". So do what you can to track it down, buy it, and listen to it a lot. You won't be disapointed if you like intense blackened crust.
“Split” Shortly after the release of Archiv Hate #10 I was asked to review this cold and bleak gem of darkness. I've had it in my play list for some time now not really knowing how to put the words together on what to say about it. I'm still kind of at a loss on what to say about it. But then I'm also just waking up and still wiping away the eye crust. It's mostly just to the point straight up in your face fuck you if you don't like us black metal. Black metal the way it for the most part used to be when I started getting in to it. It's nothing fancy, no keyboards, no drawn out dirges of darkness, none of that. Just a straight to the point fuck you. I think both these bands were touring here in the states not too long ago. I know Krieg was here in Salt Lake City several months ago but I missed that show. I think I was somewhere drunk or some shit. But anyway, the Wolvhammer side is more slower mid-paced black metal. It actually kind of wears on me actually. The Krieg side starts out mid-paced also but then ends slightly higher tempo. I actually like that side the best on this split, to be honest. But I don't know. Check it out if you get a chance and you like just straight up no frills black metal. You can order the 7" via Broken Limbs Recordings for $6 US. I'm not sure if that includes shipping or not but I'm guessing it does. But check it out. It's not a bad release, not a great release, but definitely not bad.
“In View Of The Gamma Knife” Another one that I've been meaning to write about for a while. I forgot where exactly it was that I found this one since I think it was last January when I did stumble across it. An experimental, I guess drone jazz project or something is how to describe it. It kind of reminds me of Skinny Puppy's "Spahn Dirge" track at moments minus the vocals. It doesn't sound like it but that's just kind of what it reminds me of. An eccentric experimentation of sound and drift would be another way to describe it also. But a more simplistic way to describe it would be bedtime music. Considering it's 4:30 AM right now and I've had this on repeat for the past hour and a half. It's lulling me into that temporary state of unconscious thinking to take me into those drifting brain patterns of sleep. But forging forward I must in order to write this. I don't really know much about the band other than they're from the New York City/ New Jersey area. I don't think they're signed to a label or anything either. From what I gather this is a self produced release. I can't seem to find any info about vinyl, cassettes, or CD's either. So I'm thinking this is another one of those releases that you're only going to find on Bandcamp. If you get bored and tired of the hardcore, grindcore, death, doom, black metal or what ever else you've been listening to and need something different. Something more mellow and I guess relaxing. Check this one out. I would highly recommend looking this up and giving it a listen.

“Relics Of Sulphur Salvation” I meant to originally write this review to be added into the June issue of Archiv Hate #10. But that didn't work out for me how I had hoped. Oh well though lets give it a go for this issue! A while back I noticed that 20 Buck Spin released another bad ass album that demanded attention, so I decided to check it out.
On first listen...shit I forgot what I thought on first listen. I think it was about 5 AM when I first listened to it and I needed some sleep. So I put it on the back burner for a little while to come back to. I kind of forgot about it and then I remembered, "Oh shit! I need to check this album out!“ So I finally did. At first listen I thought it was alright. This is some pretty bad ass death metal. I could listen to this a few more times. Several more listens and I band to notice that distinct Swedish Death Metal sound. So I looked them up and......AHAH! I knew it! They're from Sweden! There is no way in hell a band from the states could sound this cold and crushingly brutal and still get that distinct "Swedish Sound". Well there are other bands out there, but none that I'm aware of as of late. This is probably one of the most devastating and brutal releases that I've heard in little while. Besides some of the other doom bands that I was listening to earlier this year (check previous issues of Archiv Hate). But devastatingly brutal, cold, and will leave you in a frozen tundra of the far north. Great midsummer music when the days are reaching close to 100° F and you're stuck in a god forsaken deserts such as Salt Lake City like myself.
I guess the white vinyl is sold out for now. So as far as I can tell it is only available on CD and digital download. Go to 20 Buck Spins website for more details. If you get the chance to buy a copy. Do it! If you come across a copy of the white vinyl DEFINITELY BUY THAT!
“Reise in die Zentrifuge der Boshaftigkeit” I just came across this one last week when I started school again. I'm a little late on discovering this but I'm really very impressed by it. It's an intriguingly dark release. One of those albums you listen to at 4AM or 5AM and you're alone with no one bothering you. This is more in the dark ambient/ drone vein. Even though each track is around 10 or more minutes. Each one keeps me fascinated and interested from the beginning to end of each one. They are something that will keep a person's mind wandering and wondering. Something a person would listen to if they have a psychological interest in the workings of other peoples brain patterns and what makes them work. Or they are sitting in dark room staring at computer screens listening to dark brooding music that lets them sit there and think. It's a very interesting album. One where I don't want day light to come and let myself listen to repeatedly for hours. As far as purchasing a copy of this release goes. I can't seem to find any info on buying a record or CD. About the only record label I could find related to this is Obskure Sombre Records. But even then I couldn't find any info on where to buy a copy. The only thing I could find was their bandcamp page and a digital download for €5. So if there is any vinyl, CD's, or tapes available. You may have to contact the band on Facebook and ask them. So track this down on the interwebs, stream it, buy it, and enjoy. Cheers!
“Perpetual Return” I was digging around on the web again a few weeks ago and I managed to stumble across this beautiful gem. It appears as though there have been a multitude of amazing albums released earlier this year. I don't know how I just barely managed to discover this one a week or so ago. Fucking shit people. You need to keep me up to date on this shit! Haha! Just kidding. I'll find you all eventually at some point a long the way. Even if it is several months to a year late. Anyway, I'm kind of amazed by this release. Black metal from Italy, Bologna to be exact. For those not familiar with the Italian Black Metal scene. There has been a long history of quality stuff coming from there for decades. For the most part this is basically traditional sounding black metal. Just the way it's been done for what seems like a millenia at times. It's slightly better produced than it would have been 20 years ago while a lot of bands were going for that raw Norwegian sound. But it would still fit into that same arena. There are some acoustic parts on here that are fucking amazing. Those are probably my favorite parts. But I've also kind of been on a folk music kick as of lately though too. So yeah, those kind of fit in with the mood I've been lately. You can go to their bandcamp page and either download it for €5, order a tape for €6. The tape is also available from Caligari Records as well (which I just discovered is Sold out). Or you can go to order a CD from Razed Soul Productions through Ominous Domain for $9 US. It might be best to contact them or the record and distro labels via Facebook or E-mail to see what is still available before ordering. Or just order the digital from bandcamp. But this is definitely another release that I highly recommend checking out though. It's been on my playlist pretty much since I found it. So, track it down and buy a CD or download it.

“Trepverter This is one of those albums I have a hard time not liking. When I first heard it I didn't know entirely know what to make of it. But then I was listening to a lot of death metal and starting to get back into black metal. So, basically I didn't care much for it at the time. To me it seems kind of indie with all the hardcore sensabilities I used to enjoy back in 2004. Or earlier when I started getting burned out on black metal and the direction it was heading at that time. In some ways it kind of reminds me of the "Converge - You Fail Me" release in some ways. But it's still nothing like that, at all. It's actually a lot better than that album. Even then though, if I were to compare it to another album I would be doing it a complete injustice. It's an album that completely stands on it's own. Lots of catchy riffs, lots of catchy hooks, lots of good stuff that just sticks to you. Digging into your memories so that you could be walking down the street not really thinking about anything. Next thing you know... BOOM!
One of the riffs from one of the songs from this album pops in your head. That happened to me earlier today actually. If you're into the whole indie/ hardcore thing this is an album I highly recommend checking out. It's been released via Taxi Driver Records. You can either order it online through the webstore for a hard copy. Or if you're in the Genova, Italy area you can go to the store itself and buy it there. I would recommend doing it that way myself.
But I'm old fasion and like talking to people when buying albums. They can sometimes introduce to other new stuff and next thing you know. You're leaving there after spending way too much money filled with all kinds of gems for your ears delight. You can also order a digital copy via the Taxi Driver Records bandcamp page as well. Either way though, buy a copy and listen to your ears and hearts delight.
