Despite the fact that people involved in ARCHIV HATE were and still are busy.. killing beasts, building bridges, moving mountains and so on, we managed to make another issue of magazine featuring national treasures of the various countries. #04 is obviously thinner than previously published issues, but missing pages will be up in the next #05 issue. Special thanks goes to bands who shared their experience about the band life and inspirations, to Mārtiņš Ābols for making #04 magazine cover, and Jason Cantu for reviews. Also thanks to Rita Gomes (wastedrita.com) for making mind-blowing quotes. Support the bands and artists - visit their shows & talk to them, buy their merch, cd's, vinyl's and everything else. -ARCHIV HATE, May 2013

France, atypical school of violence. Newborn got his first gun when he is christened. Priest armed with a shotgun and deaf people are blowing up everything. This is my vision of France! Yes, it’s associated with the movie Dobermann. But it’s all I have! Ten years latter I discover ASIDEFROMADAY, a perfect soundtrack to my vision.

YOU DUDES ARE THE BUSIEST AND HEAVIEST DUO ON EARTH. HOW LONG DO YOU KNOW EACH OTHER AND WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GET TOGETHER AS TALBOT?
Jarmo: Busiest – don’t know, maybe so, yep. We’ve known each other since 2003 and it just felt like a good idea to do a band like this. Simple. Magnus: Yeah, in this time we were just talking much about stoner-doom and metal bands, which led us to form one.
time comes, then we surely let someone else to sit behind the mixing desk or do the booking work etc. Talk Left-Handed is not really a regular record label. It’s just a name that I like and use it for releasing Talbot and my own solo music under it. WHAT’S THE SONGWRITING PROCESS?
J: Magnus usually has some riffs or we just jam and then get some riffs through jamming. Like most of the bands usually do (the other ROCK BAND = FLASHY, LIGHTbands have their own HAIRED LEAD SINGER + “Magnus” of course). BROODING, DARK-HAIRED M: Yep, usually, there's only GUITARIST. J: Unfortunately we only got to Japan in while Tour De Ninja 2011. But we did have the Australian tour in 2010. Don’t really even know anymore of what to call a real difficulty. There are always some troubles on the road in general and it’s just the way it is. The only way to deal with it is just to deal with it. Maybe on the first tour ever it felt like we were facing some problems, but now, even when some of those troubles seem to get bigger and stranger, it just feels that this is the life on tour and that’s it. It’s more like having a bunch of

FIRST BAND I EVER TALKED TO: WITHOUTANAME IT’S A GREAT PLEASURE TO HAVE YOU AT ARCHIV HATE. SO MANY YEARS HAS PASSED SINCE OUR FIRST CHAT. IT WAS AROUND 2008?
Shota: Hello, my old friend. Yeah, I think you are right. Ah, We met around 2008 on myspace.com (RIP). Anyway, Thanks for your friendship. We are getting old, my friend! But the music keeps us going.
LOT’S OF THINGS HAVE HAPPENED WITH YOU ALL AND AROUND T HE BAND, BUT FIRST THINGS FIRST. WHAT’S THE HISTORY OF THE BAND? YOU STARTED AS A 3-PIECE?
Shota: Without A Name were founded in 2006 in Shiga, Japan. Moto (lead) and me, we met in elementary school. Maybe we were 10 years-old kids. When we became Jr hi-school student, Koichi (vocal) became one of my classmates. So, 3 kids became best friends for each other since 1998. Well, when we were 12 years-old, we were crazy about Marilyn Manson. Our school is private Christian school. So we loved his antichrist-spirit. Moto: Oh, I need to say, we are not antichrist band. Well, I like to read a Bible and I love Christmas even no one give me a present! We just wanted to know the dark side of religion. You know, we were the teenagers.... Anyway, we listened to hard rock everyday. Shota: Few years later, finally, we met “metal”. Slayer, Iron maiden, soilwork, In flames....etc. Then Koichi, Moto and me ,we realized we must be a “metal band”. Koichi: I think you already thought that “where are the bass and the drummer?”. Yeah, we were 3 piece band from 2008 to 2011. Moto: Our musical style is comparable to melodic death metal/ hardcore/ alternative, although we often like to call it “extreme metal". Actually, a lot of people call us “melodic death metal band”. The music is based on hard screams, fast drums and complicated guitar riffs and shred. And.. we have 4 releases, all produced by us: EP’s: WITHOUT A NAME (2006), EVERYTIME I DIE (2007), INTRODUCTION of SICKENED (2007), Full Length: SICKENED (2008). Koichi: Seriously, I was thinking that "we cannot find good bassist & drummer forever". BUT! Last year, Jun (as bassist) and Tommy"the brutal” (as drummer) joined us! Tommy"the brutal": You need to say "Thank you, Tommy. You are my lord" every night before sleep. Shota: well.. so we are finally become 5 piece metal band! Woohoo! BY THE WAY, HOW DID YOU CAME UP WITH A BAND NAME?
Shota: Let's just say we didn't have any idea and we were so lazy kids. If my memory serves me correctly....we had a list of band names. "No name", "Without Name", "Without A Name" etc. then we choose "Without a Name" as our band name. Moto: I like our band's name. Koichi: I don't care about that. Hahaha.
THERE WAS NUMEROUS LINEUP CHANGES. ALTHOUGH YOU WENT ON HIATUS FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS, YOU STILL MANAGED TO GET BACK TOGETHER.
Shota: Oh-oh, I wanna forget it! When Koichi left this band, me and Moto were thinking "all hope is gone". Koichi: Sorry. hahaha. Moto: But there were some bassists, drummers and vocalists we knew. so we played some gigs as "band". One of them is a slave driver. One of them is “fool”. We were stressed out everyday. It's one thing after another. Koichi: But now, I'm back. 2 new guys comes. So.. still there is hope. Hahaha. I really like 2 new members. Tommy “the brutal” is a nice guy. Jun has amazing techniques. I'm so existing. Jun: Yeah! So exciting! Original members are the same age as me, so we can encourage each other. I've known WAN when I was in former band, of course never imagined joining here ;) I appreciate TOMMY invited me here, I found the new frontier of my music life.
WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE A METAL BAND IN JAPAN?
Jun: As I see it.. Metal music has seen better days in Japan. Actually, there is not a lot of people who like Japanese metal in my country. Koichi: Japanese metalheads loves overseas metal band. so.. what can we do in this country? Tell me! Hahaha. Shota: Japanese media hates metal, Japanese people doesn't need Japanese metal band.. so what's? Foreign people help us a lot, like you do! ARCHIV HATE rocks!
YOUR FIRST ALBUM “SICKENED” IS TOTALLY DIY. RECORDED, ENGINEERED, PRODUCED, MIXED AND MASTERED BY WAN. Moto: I'm so proud of SICKENED. Our
baby - sickened is still my favorite album. To tell the truth, I don't like the production of sickened. Koichi: We didn't have money, technique and good instruments/recorder. But, my favorite songs “Penetrate the silence”, “Awake”, “New bloodshed” are still shining. Tommy"the brutal": 'Everytime I die' is my favorite song.
“HUNDRED FAILS THOUSANDS FAILS” IS STIL L ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS!
Shota: oh, We played that song as opening song on our latest tour. Heavy...Dark...beautiful song, right? I'm glad you still like “Fails”.
WHAT’S WITH THE NEW RECORD?
Jun: Still needs time, but I think the new shit must be cool! Fullgrown in every respect, quality, technique and sounds. And more, newer taste has added to the 1st album. You can feel the flavor of other genres of music, modern heaviness, old school HR/HM, and some danceable ones. Stay tuned! We'd like to show you ASAP! Shota: So far so good. I already wrote 8 demo songs. This time, we'll record it as DIY CD again. We got new PC and DTM software. I already feel it must be good album. Good song, good sound, good lyrics, amazing shred....what else? Moto: Shota requested a more technical guitar solo than sickened. I produced the only 30% power in those days , but gave as much as 50% power for 2nd album! You guys must be popping eyes! Koichi: More melodic, More Aggressive! More metal! Not only Loud/Hard, But also fine/emotional. I think our 2nd album will be liked by non metal guys. Tommy“the brutal”: I'll show you my brutality! World, you should know I am the beast. Hahaha. Shota: ..Anyway, I really looking forward to make our new disk. It's gonna be our best one. IT WILL BE OUT ON VINYL, CD, CASSETTE, MP3?
Shota: It will be out on CD...and Mp3. Koichi: The only thing is we are still Unsigned band. Moto: We'll send our new demo songs to all records labels. YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO HANG OUT AND PLAY GIGS?
Shota: Shiga! I always love my hometown. Osaka and Nagoya are my favorite place too. WHAT’S ON YOUR DAILY PLAYLIST?
Tommy"the brutal": Testament / The Gathering, Shadows Fall / The War Within, Threat Signal / Under Reprisal, Periphery / Periphery, Meshuggah / obZen. Moto: Bon Jovi / Cross Road, Van Halen / Best of Both World, Sonata Arctica / Ecriptica, Children of Bodom / Follow the Reaper, Hateform / Dominance. Shota: CREED / Human Clay, Machine Head / Through the Ashes of Empires, Incubus / Make Yourself, Pulse Ultra / Head space, CHEVELLE / Wonder What's Next. Koichi: InMe / The Pride, Soilwork / A Predator's Portrait, LinkinPark / METEORA, Soilwork / Stabbing the Drama, Mors Principium Est / The Unborn. Jun: Dream Theater / Metropolis pt.2, Funeral for a Friend / Hours, Secret Sphere / A Time Never Come, Opeth / Damnation, Amorphis / Elegy.
SORRY, BUT THIS IS WAY TOO IMPORTANT - DOES GODZILLA EXIST?
Shota: You've got me there! Hahaha. Godzilla will save us from world war 3. Godzilla was born to tell us that "This planet is not yours, people. Save the nature. Stay in peace. If not, I'll break you guys perfectly." so Godzilla is still breathing in the sea. But I hope I wouldn't meet Godzilla in my town! Hahaha. My favorite film is 'Godzilla vs. Biollante'.
