A Virtual Concert Performance of
Vocal and Instrumental Student Musicians of Archmere Academy Featuring Pianist, Christine McCloskey
Letter from the Director We are thrilled to bring this special, virtual student showcase concert once again to the Archmere community. At this very time last year, a new normal was blanketing the globe; many performances, including the 2020 student showcase, had to be canceled as we discovered safe ways to navigate making music together. Many lessons have been learned along the course of this year, some at great cost, but inevitably, the performance of music continues to be vital for our well-being and happiness. The tremendous talent of our student performers makes this my favorite concert of each year. As you know, a major resource of the successful academic student is time management. I marvel how these young musicians invest hours of dedicated time to learn, study, and develop performance skills with their instruments. Science has proven to us that the study of music creates positive brain development that extends to academic achievement. It is easy to recognize that these student musicians shine in all aspects of their Archmere career. The “new normal” has also created new jobs. I wish to thank our videographer and editor, Mr. Joel DeMartino, for producing our virtual concert format. Ms. Chris McCloskey once again provided expert piano accompaniment for our performers. In addition, I offer thanks to Mrs. Katherine Ball-Weir, Director of Institutional Advancement, and Dr. Michael Marinelli, Headmaster, for the opportunity to work together and host this concert. Many of us recognize the Patio as our Archmere home, and treasure the precious memories enjoyed here over the years. We are deeply grateful for the support of the concert series through your donations, which provide funds directed to the restoration of this historic building. Please consider becoming a sponsor for all of the concerts and interesting lectures that make up the Green Series. Most of all, I wish to thank these amazing, talented students and their families, who perpetuate and preserve the tradition of music education for the next generations. I am humbled by your zeal and passion for music. The future rests confidently in your good hands. Gratefully Yours,
