A MESSAGE FROM THE FACADES+ DIRECTOR
WELCOME
Welcome to Facades+ New York! The Architect’s Newspaper is celebrating the 10th Year of the Facades+ conference back where it all started—right here at home in NYC. We are thrilled to welcome new attendees and longtime supporters to this year’s program as we celebrate this big anniversary. At Facades+ we bring the latest innovations and awardwinning projects to AEC professionals across the US. New York is a center of innovation across the AEC industry, from experiments with high-performing materials to large-scale resiliency strategies and iconic buildings of course.. Facades+ New York brings together top professionals from the worlds of design, engineering, fabrication, and construction to consider how high-performance envelopes contribute to New York’ distinctive character and take design to new heights. Today’s symposium features keynote addresses by Marlon Blackwell, Founder of Marlon Blackwell Architects and Elaine Molinar, Managing Director at Snøhetta. You’ll be treated to panel discussions on topics ranging from high-performance retrofits to the latest innovations from NYC’s top design programs and firms. On Friday, the event continues online with deepdiving workshops with expert practitioners across the AEC industry. We’d like to thank our conference Co-Chair, Blake Middleton from Handel Architects, who has helped curate this program of design leaders from a variety of fields. We invite you to connect with presenters and your peers during networking breaks in the Methods+Materials Gallery. Please get to know these industry-leading sponsors in the Methods+Materials Gallery and learn how they shape the future of building-facade technologies. Has Facades+ struck a chord with you? Have a look at our upcoming 2022 events held in cities across the country. We’ll next be headed to Austin on April 27th and Boston on June 7th. Along with 5 more Facades+ cities this year in the fall, we’ll be hosting the 5th edition of TECH+ Expo, showcasing the future of technology in the AEC industry. You won’t want to miss it. We’ve also launched an online series of events such as Outdoor Spaces, TimberCon, Reuse + Renewal and more. We are eager to hear from you about how we might improve the Facades+ experience. Talk to us, and please spread the word—help us to continue to grow the Facades+ dialogue and community.
