CONCEPTUAL NARRATIVE: My concept began with the idea of transforming an underutilized group of buildings and lot into a complex that integrates food security, affordable energy efficient housing and community development. My housing is designed for the residents of lower price hill who need or could benefit from this housing as well as those interested in living in an urban agriculture environment. My design incorporates a tessellated tensile structure system that produces wind energy and rainwater harvesting as well as turning the existing building roofs into habitable green spaces for gathering, gardening, and teaching opportunities. These systems also lower energy costs from a standard roof construction.
