Employee Wellness and Civilian Fitness Program Did you know, as a DoD civilian employee, you could participate in a fitness program designed to fit into your work schedule? Ask me how you could participate in this program or just for more details. Corporate Wellness fact: Studies show that individuals who engage in physical activity are more productive at their workplace and miss less work than those that do not workout on a regular basis. Giving an employee that additional time in the middle of the day is to act as an energy boost and give them a shot of euphoria and make them just as productive in the end part of the day as in the beginning.

The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) The Korean Demilitarized Zone is a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea which runs along the 38th parallel. The DMZ cuts the Korean Peninsula roughly in half. The north side of DMZ is the Democratic People`s Republic of Korea, also known as North Korea. Dora Observatory is situated in Paju (Gyeonggi-do) and at the northernmost point of the Military Demarcation Line of the Western Front. The Dora Observatory replaced the previous Songaksan Observation Post which is now closed. From the observatory, visitors can overlook North Korea and its various locations including Gaseseong, Songaksan, Kim I1-Sung statue, and Cooperation Farm (Geumamgol). The observatory offers 500 seats, VIP rooms and abundant parking space. It was first opened to the public in January 1987. 3rd Infiltration Tunnel Only 27 miles from Seoul (less than an hour`s drive), the third tunnel was discovered in October 1978. Almost identical in structure to Tunnel 2, it’s a mile-long tunnel that is 6 feet high and 7 feet wide. It penetrates 0.3 miles south of the Military Demarcation Line at a point 2.5 miles south of the Panmunjeom, running through bedrock at a depth of about 240 feet below ground. Capable of moving a full division (plus their weapons) per hour, it was evidently designed for a surprise attack on Seoul. This tunnel is only 1.2 mile from a key outpost defending the Munsan corridor leading to Seoul. Paju Outlet Mall What a fabulous modern shopping area, very relaxing and really worth a visit truly a shopping paradise not only for locals but also for tourists. So many international brands are available as in many shopping malls. Bus Schedule Hovey CAC: 0915 Casey CAC: 0930 Paju Outlet: 1230 Return at site: 1530
Kijong-dong other wise known as propaganda village a north Korean village within the DMZ, it is a fake village setup by North Korea in the 50s to intice South Koreans to defect to the North. at the DMZ in South Korea.

WAR MEMORIAL PARK The War Memorial of Korea, located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, exhibits and preserve materials related to the Korean War and serves as a national moral educational venue. It was established to commemorate the noble sacrifice of patriotic martyrs by the War Memorial Service Korea Society on June 10, 1994. The museum houses approximately 33,000 artifacts with about 10,000 on display at an indoor and outside exhibition halls. There are six separate indoor halls, including Expeditionary Forces Room, Patriotic Memorial Room, War History Room, 6·25 Korean War Room, Development Hall and Large Machinery Room. The outdoor exhibition hall showcases large-sized weapons. Visitors of all ages from children to adults can also participate in 20 various educational programs and diverse cultural events such as military music and honor guard events, drawing contest, cultural event and more. The character of War Memorial of Korea is ‘Mudori’ featuring a helmet symbolizing the protection of the nation and a bay leaf meaning peace.
ITAEWON SHOPPING This area is located conveniently outside Gate 12 (by the gas station) and across the street. Itaewon Street is the most exotic place in Seoul to spend a day of shopping, dining, and hanging out. Itaewon holds a long history in its making and is the first place most tourists want to visit in Korea. After the U.S. set up a military base in Korea during the 1970s, many foreigners stationed at the base settled near the Itaewon area, naturally developing the region into a shopping district catering to foreigners. Later, the existence of Itaewon became known worldwide after the widely publicized 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Seoul Olympics. In 1997, Itaewon was finally designated as an official tourist zone. Please bring Korean Won for souvenir and lunch or snacks.

Osan Air Base & USAG Humphreys SUNDAY, 9 JUNE Cost: $20 (Transportation Fee) Osan Air Base Osan Air Base is located in Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Do, South Korea. Osan Air Base (AB) is one of two major airfields operated by the U.S. in Korea and the only USAF facility in the Republic of Korea (ROK) entirely planned and built by the U.S. from scratch during the Korean War. The base is located 4.7 miles southwest of the city of Osan. Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is only 30 miles north of Osan. Osan Air Base Osan Air Base (AB) is one of two major airfields operated by the U.S. in Korea and the only USAF facility in the Republic of Korea (ROK) entirely planned and built by the U.S. from scratch during the Korean War. The base is located 4.7 miles southwest of the town of Osan, for which it is named, and 40 miles south of Seoul, the capital city. Prior to the invasion of the Republic of Korea by the North Korean communists in 1950, the area consisted of several tiny farming villages near the hillsides and a large number of rice paddies areas where the runway now lies. A large Gingko tree marked the village square of one of these villages and still stands on a hill in the base golf course. With blocks of shopping & just outside of Osan AB. It’s a heaven for the serious shoppers. Shop and enjoy the variety of items offered in the mail and stores in the shopping area of Osan both on and off base. Streets of Osan. Camp Humphreys is like a small American city. It's the largest US military base overseas. The camp is located in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. It's 40 miles south of Seoul and 60 miles from the North Korean border. Camp Humphreys is an $11 billion complex. The camp has a $64 million shopping center. It looks like a regular mall with 60 different stores. You can also find a bunch of American food chains. The base has a school, golf course, and even a veterinarian. For the most part, life goes on as usual, but it's a training facility for soldiers. They run drills across the camp to prepare for combat.
