Employee Wellness and Civilian Fitness Program Did you know, as a DoD civilian employee, you could participate in a fitness program designed to fit into your work schedule? Ask me how you could participate in this program or just for more details. Corporate Wellness fact: Studies show that individuals who engage in physical activity are more productive at their workplace and miss less work than those that do not workout on a regular basis. Giving an employee that additional time in the middle of the day is to act as an energy boost and give them a shot of euphoria and make them just as productive in the end part of the day as in the beginning.

The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) The Korean Demilitarized Zone is a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea which runs along the 38th parallel. The DMZ cuts the Korean Peninsula roughly in half. The north side of DMZ is the Democratic People`s Republic of Korea, also known as North Korea. Dora Observatory is situated in Paju (Gyeonggi-do) and at the northernmost point of the Military Demarcation Line of the Western Front. The Dora Observatory replaced the previous Songaksan Observation Post which is now closed. From the observatory, visitors can overlook North Korea and its various locations including Gaseseong, Songaksan, Kim I1-Sung statue, and Cooperation Farm (Geumamgol). The observatory offers 500 seats, VIP rooms and abundant parking space. It was first opened to the public in January 1987. 3rd Infiltration Tunnel Only 27 miles from Seoul (less than an hour`s drive), the third tunnel was discovered in October 1978. Almost identical in structure to Tunnel 2, it’s a mile-long tunnel that is 6 feet high and 7 feet wide. It penetrates 0.3 miles south of the Military Demarcation Line at a point 2.5 miles south of the Panmunjeom, running through bedrock at a depth of about 240 feet below ground. Capable of moving a full division (plus their weapons) per hour, it was evidently designed for a surprise attack on Seoul. This tunnel is only 1.2 mile from a key outpost defending the Munsan corridor leading to Seoul. Paju Outlet Mall What a fabulous modern shopping area, very relaxing and really worth a visit truly a shopping paradise not only for locals but also for tourists. Jeonju Hanok Village during the Memorial Day Weekend
SUNDAY, 26 MAY Deadline for Sign-up: 20 May
Cost: $40 for Transportation & Entrance Fee CAMP CASEY
Story of Hanok Village- Jeonju Hanok Village is located in the city of Jeonju and overlaps Pungnam-dong and Gyodong. There are over 800 traditional Korean hanok houses. While the rest of city has been industrialized, Hanok Village retains its historical charms and traditions. Jeonju Hanok Village is especially beautiful for its unique roof edges, which are slightly raised to the sky. Hanok houses are generally divided into two sections, Anchae and Sarangchae. Sarangchae is where the men dwell, and is referred to as the Seonbi room. Because men and women had to remain separate, Anchae is situated deep inside the house so that it is secretive and quiet. Another trait of Hanok is that all the houses are heated with Ondol, a unique sub-floor heating system. Since Koreans enjoy sitting, eating, and sleeping on the floor, it needs to remain heated. A part of Hanok has been set aside so that tourists can experience traditional Korean life, called Hanok Life Experience Hall. You can enter the rooms to experience the warm floor first-hand. An advantage of this system is that it is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The food provided is very traditional, which adds to the traditional ambiance. At Jeonju Hanok Village, visitors can enjoy traditional Korean life and traditional foods like Bibimbap, the most well-known dish from the Jeonju region. Tour Course Information Half-day Tours - Exploring hidden gems of Hanok Village Course - Experience alleys of Hanok Village Course - Leisure walk course - Jeonju Hanok Village slow tour course - Joseon Dynasty's King Taejo history tour route (KBS drama Jeongdojeon filming sites) What to Expect - A themed Hanbok is more colorful and fancy pattern style, including king's and queen’s Hanboks, while the traditional Hanbok is a graceful and a pleasantly simple Hanbok. Still commonly worn in South Korea during traditional festivals, traditional Handbooks feature comparatively simple designs and give off an elegant feeling. Themed Hanboks, which are made of materials with bright colors and patterns, are most popular with customers at Hanbok-Nam. On top of that, you can also choose from a line of Hanboks that were traditionally worn in the ancient times by kings, Korean geishas, warriors, scholars and so on. These Hanboks can easily be seen in Korean historical drama series. Bus Schedule Hovey CAC: 0715 / Casey CAC: 0730 Return at site: 1530 POC is Mr. Chong at Leisure Travel Services,

Osan Air Base Osan Air Base is located in Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Do, South Korea. Osan Air Base (AB) is one of two major airfields operated by the U.S. in Korea and the only USAF facility in the Republic of Korea (ROK) entirely planned and built by the U.S. from scratch during the Korean War. The base is located 4.7 miles southwest of the city of Osan. Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is only 30 miles north of Osan. Osan Air Base Osan Air Base (AB) is one of two major airfields operated by the U.S. in Korea and the only USAF facility in the Republic of Korea (ROK) entirely planned and built by the U.S. from scratch during the Korean War. The base is located 4.7 miles southwest of the town of Osan, for which it is named, and 40 miles south of Seoul, the capital city. Prior to the invasion of the Republic of Korea by the North Korean communists in 1950, the area consisted of several tiny farming villages near the hillsides and a large number of rice paddies areas where the runway now lies. A large Gingko tree marked the village square of one of these villages and still stands on a hill in the base golf course. With blocks of shopping & just outside of Osan AB. It’s a heaven for the serious shoppers. Shop and enjoy the variety of items offered in the mail and stores in the shopping area of Osan both on and off base. Streets of Osan. Camp Humphreys is like a small American city. It's the largest US military base overseas. The camp is located in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. It's 40 miles south of Seoul and 60 miles from the North Korean border. Camp Humphreys is an $11 billion complex. The camp has a $64 million shopping center. It looks like a regular mall with 60 different stores. You can also find a bunch of American food chains. The base has a school, golf course, and even a veterinarian. For the most part, life goes on as usual, but it's a training facility for soldiers. They run drills across the camp to prepare for combat.
