I PUNTI DEBOLI
© RIPRODUZIONE RISERVATA

NEWS McCORMICK STANDS ABOVE THE REST AT THE 2015 NATIONAL FARM MACHINERY SHOW WITH ALL NEW TRACTORS Duluth, GA, Feb. 23, 2015 - McCormick tractors stood a step above the rest of the exhibitors at the 2015 National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY, with a booth completely full of all-new tractors. It was the perfect platform to display the product developments and changes that are coming from a growing agricultural company. On display were nine tractor models representing a complete makeover of the McCormick product offering for 2015, with every model having been introduced within only the last 12 months.
The first of these products is the X4 Series, a 61 to 102 HP range that will take over in the smaller frame utility class tractor segment. This single series has a wide offering of features and specifications that make it truly more versatile. Six different models of the X4 Series are available in platform or cab variants. Each model can be accessorized to suit the customers' requirements, from entry level to high specification and comfort level.
The three smallest models, from 61 to 75 HP, use a 2.9 liter 4-cylinder Tier 4i engine, while the larger 85 to 101 HP models are equipped with a 3.6 liter 4cylinder Tier 4i engine. All tractors meet the stringent emissions regulations using a “No Maintenance emissions system. Without a diesel particulate filter (DPF) to regenerate, there is less cost and maintenance over time. For the life of the tractor, just put in fuel and drive.
The X4 Series also features a new 12 x 12 shuttle transmission built by McCormick. This can be fitted with a creeper, synchro or power shuttle, and hi-lo power shift capabilities. The 4wd front axle can include a fully locking front differential and integrated front brakes, giving exceptional traction and performance. A 2-speed rear PTO offers both 540 and 1000 RPM capability with push button engagement for versatility and ease of use. At the rear of the tractor, specifications include a mechanical or electronic three point linkage and an impressive 8598 lb lift capacity. Open center hydraulics deliver up to 15 gpm of flow to the three rear remote valves.
McCormick is also launching the new X6 Series, which is the modern day evolution of the successful X60 Series and the venerable MC Series of yesterday. It includes two models in a 4wd cab configuration only, with 111 and 121 HP. A 4.5-liter BETAPOWER diesel engine equipped with the innovative SCR technology delivers big power and performance with low fuel consumption and emissions. PowerPlus boosts the power output of the engine under certain conditions (up to 12 additional HP) to help charge through tough work on the farm.
The X6 range incorporates the modern, family look and style of other McCormick tractors, particularly the new cab which is inspired by the flagship X7 Series tractors. The X6 tractors feature a 36 x 12 transmission with 3 power shift speeds, a 4wd front axle with fully locking differential and integrated front brakes, 540/1000 RPM rear PTO, and electronically controlled rear lift. Customers have a choice of a simple, economical open center hydraulic system with 17 gpm of flow, or the robust closed center system that provides up to 29 gpm of hydraulic flow to implements, instantly and on demand.
Though it was initially launched at the 2014 National Farm Machinery Show, the X7 Series was a big hit that drew a lot of attention from farmers around the country. The expanded X7 lineup marks the beginning of a new era for McCormick products by introducing a fully automated 24 x 24 power shift and power shuttle transmission from ZF, a world-renowned manufacturer of reliable, high quality drive train systems. Incorporating the comfort, technology, and performance demanded by professional farmers, the X7 Series has the tools to maximize productivity day in and day out.
Five models in the X7 Series range from 143 to 188 HP (212 HP with Power Plus). The two smaller models use a 4.5 liter 4-cylinder BETAPOWER diesel engine, while the three larger ones boast a 6.7 liter 6-cylinder power plant in a cast steel frame. All engines feature efficient, reliable SCR emissions technology for performance and fuel economy. The spacious 4-post cab with two doors and flat food deck sits up high with a bird’s eye view in all directions. A deluxe air-suspended seat and abundance of creature comforts will invite the operator to climb inside, and will make long working days in the field seem shorter and less tiring. Machine controls are ergonomically arranged for easy identification and reach, with most major tractor functions residing in the seat armrest that moves with the driver for convenient control in all conditions. Customers can customize the machine’s operation to fit a specific need or suit a variety of applications.
Additional comfort and performance features, such as front axle and cab suspension with 31 mph (50 kph) transport capability, make this a true contender in today’s professional producer market place. Last, but certainly not least, is the new X1 Series compact lineup from McCormick. Three models range from 24 to 47 HP, and offer customers different configurations to suit the needs of the job at hand. The small frame X1.25 model offers either an economical, mechanical gearbox or user-friendly 2-range hydrostatic transmission. A 3-cylinder diesel engine delivers the power and performance needed to perform a wide range of chores around the farm or homestead. To increase versatility, the X1.25 can be equipped with a front loader or mid-mount belly mower.
The larger X1.35 and X1.45 generate 35 and 47 HP respectively. Boasting a common, heavy duty chassis and operator’s station, these machines offer rock solid performance without compromise. 3 and 4-cylinder diesel engines generate power and torque to tackle the toughest of jobs, and the mechanical 12 x 12 shuttle transmission can handle loader work with ease. Both are available in the popular open station ROPS configuration, while the X1.45 offers an enclosed cab packed full of features for those wanting the highest level of comfort. A heavy-lifting rear 3-point hitch and 2-speed rear PTO allow these machines to handle a wide variety of implements to further improve versatility.
But, McCormick isn’t done yet. New products are on the horizon, with two more line-ups ready to be unveiled shortly: the X5 Series and X6L Series. More information on these two new series is coming. And, more tractors are on the way‌

Rob Harrison, NFU dairy board chairman, said there was lot of support for farmers from the public. While the very low supermarket retail prices were not affecting their farmer suppliers it was, he said, having a serious knock-on effect on corner shop prices and milk sold on retail rounds.
“They should be feeling that enough has been done to stabilise the situation in the short term,” said Staffordshire NFU chairman, Alan Warrington, a former First Milk regional board member. “The co-op has been right to bring in more capital from its members, but in the longer term they need to rethink their business model. If they can’t add value they are vulnerable.” Speaker after speaker talked of the work being done by organisations like DairyCo to lift the profile of milk to increase sales, 40 per cent of liquid milk being consumed on cereals. Judith Bryans of Dairy UK said Defra is very supportive,

A year ago, he said, there was only three pence a litre difference between the top and bottom farm price, now that figure is 12 to 14p. Barclays bank manager Steve Brown advised farmers to seek advice if things are getting difficult. Farmers should be able to borrow at very low interest rates at least a sum equal to three monthly milk cheques. Know what your cash flow is and keep updating it, he advised. Looking ahead, milk price is expected to increase in the third quarter but can farmers hang on?

“We export to Ireland and other countries in Europe as well as supplying locally, and because they’re often in demand we always have stock of half a dozen used JCB telehandlers in the yard,” he says.
Landini is a worldwide brand of the ARGO Group of Companies
“Our expertise in preparing and refurbishing equipment for sale has also brought in a lot of workshop servicing and repairs for local farmers.” Now, the future for the business is more diverse as it supplies high quality new machinery as well as used equipment, backed up by diligent workshop and on-farm repairs and servicing, and the supply of an bigger range of parts, tools and sundries. Jason says: “The new parts store and retail operation managed by ‘Jake’ Leedham has gone from strength to strength since he joined
us thanks to his great experience in this field. Every item is competitively priced and clearly labelled to ensure quick and straightforward purchase decisions.” Products in this department include the Granit range of quality parts, accessories, clothing, tools and service items; Ehrle pressure washers, batteries, LED lighting, Chemodex oils, children’s toys, fencing, tractor spares (including Sparex, QTP, Bepco and Vapormatic), power takeoff shafts and guards, Draper tools, and a whole lot more.
Student
In addition to Jason Bloor himself, who maintains a very much handson grasp of the workshop operation, there are three experienced full-time technicians. Also, keen to support young talent, an agricultural student has recently joined the workshop team as an apprentice with the firm. Full-time administration assistant Sharon Millington keeps the modern office facilities working efficiently, using professional IT accounts software to ensure the highest possible customer service, and Jason greatly values his long-standing business
relationship with Andrew Nicholas from the Harvey Hughes farm consultancy, who provides sound business planning and management backup, which Jason believes is key to any successful, growing enterprise. On the machinery supply side, new farm machinery franchises taken on as part of the business growth plan include Redrock slurry and silage equipment; Portequip trailers, feeders and cattle handling equipment; AG Engineering cubicle bedding and pasture machinery; TGB quads and JPM low-load, multi-purpose and cattle trailers; and Foster yard scrapers and transport boxes. The most recent signing – and real feather in Jason’s cap – is with Vicon, international supplier of a complete range of grassland machinery, sprayers and fertiliser spreaders. The other high-profile partnership is for Landini, which enables J A Bloor Agricultural Services to provide genuine parts, routine servicing and repairs to existing Landini tractor users, and to supply new Landini tractors throughout Staffordshire and into Derbyshire and surrounding counties.

Dealership for Landini tractors A J. A. BLOOR n agricultural engineering business in Staffordshire has become a fully-fledged dealership handling the Landini tractor range and a number of well-known farm equipment lines to build on its expertise in the used equipment market.
The new venture for J A Bloor Agricultural Services Ltd was launched at several agricultural shows last summer and the company is now ready to fling open the doors of expanded and improved premises during an open day at Overton Farm, Hollington, near Uttoxeter, on Saturday, March 14, from10am until 5pm.
Key suppliers and all staff will all be on hand to guide visitors through the premises with its shop and spares department, as well as the extensive range of new and used farm machinery in stock. Some great spring deals, generous raffle prizes and a hog roast will make it an entertaining as well as informative day. For Jason Bloor, securing the Landini tractor franchise and representing well-known farm equipment manufacturers – the latest being Vicon grassland machinery – is the culmination of plans to add the professional supply of new tractors and machinery to the established business of supplying thoroughly refurbished and prepared used equipment. “We’ve put a lot of time and energy into improving the facilities here to provide a better and broader service to farmers and others in rural communities in Staffordshire and neighbouring counties,” he says. “With everything from fencing materials, power washers and quad bikes to trailers, slurry equipment and new
tractors, we’ve become a one-stop-shop for all the things farmers need.” Jason caught the ‘machinery bug’ as a young boy, when school days were always too long and he spent all his free time outdoors on the family farm or neighbouring farms developing his agricultural skills. In the local Young Farmers Club, Jason’s energetic personality drew great, life-long friends, many of whom he is grateful to for supporting him as he worked hard to build up a successful used farm machinery business.
Perfect
In his ’20s, Jason established himself as a reliable, hard-working farm contractor while also working at home, which also provided the perfect outlet to exercise his passion and skills in arable farming and machinery. In 2004, faced with some tough personal and professional challenges familiar to many rural farming families, Jason stopped milking at Overton, consolidated his contracting activities and set up the current business, J A Bloor Agricultural Services Ltd. Fast forward almost 10 years, and Jason was married to Janine, had two daughters and was just as determined to keep growing his business by building on his core strengths and values. Although still keeping his hand and heart in beef and arable work at Overton Farm, Jason’s agricultural engineering business is now reaching new and exciting heights. It is already well-known and respected locally as a business sourcing and supplying good value second-hand farm machinery, and for hiring out high-spec seasonal machinery such as forage wagons, slurry tankers, tractors, telescopic handlers and excavators to an ever growing number of valued customers. Company is rolling out its biggest ever range
L
andini is a professional tractor range with a keen following, among livestock farmers in particular, according to Jason Bloor of J A Bloor Agricultural Services Ltd at Hollington, near Uttoxeter. “They’re invariably described as bomb-proof, in terms of reliability,” said Jason. I’ve traded a number of Landini tractors myself over the years and never had any trouble with them.”
Becoming a Landini dealer is timely just now because manufacturer Argo Tractors in Italy is rolling out its biggest ever collection of new models – from small tractors traditionally used on dairy and other livestock farms to highspec machines with the sort of fingertip controls and technology that larger arable units – and a lot of young drivers – now expect. Jason recently visited the Landini factory in Italy: “It is a truly impressive facility with a clearly dedicated workforce focused on attention to detail,” he said. “Each individual is motivated by a sense of pride and responsibility tied to a detailed quality control process.
“I came away from the visit with a sense of passion and even greater confidence in the Landini brand, and I’m now fully convinced we have the right product made by people who share the same values in partnership with us.” A multitude of new Landini models is transforming a range which starts at 35hp with the popular Mistral heavy-duty compact and goes all the all-new 6 Series four-cylinder tractors and 7 Series six-cylinder models, up to 212hp, with modern features and specification.
Dedication
“Apart from the tractors themselves, the best thing we offer is a dedication to customer service,” said Jason. “We’re not ‘nine ‘til five’ people here; the lads in the workshop start at 7am and finish at 6pm – or later if necessary to get the job done – and my phone is on 24/7. “We do it because we know how critical it is to a farm’s daily routine that tractors and machinery are available for work. “We’re now looking forward to new customers putting us to the test,” he added. Although the use of CB radios has declined in the UK since its peak in the 80s, it is still popular with the farming community and can be invaluable on farms where mobile signal is poor. In December 2006, CB radio was de-regulated by Ofcom and is now licence free. The Thunderpole T-800, available from JA Bloor, is a user-friendly CB radio that can be depended on to keep in touch with everyone on the farm be it on the tractor, in the office or out in the fields. It has all the essential features, including AM/FM channels, multi-band operation with UK and eight European bands, auto-squelch, bright LED display, signal meter and multifunction microphone. The T-800 is priced at £54.99.

One of these actuatros controls the setting of the discharge point of the dosing cup onto the disc (letter setting), the other controls the application rate. The GEOspread system makes it possible to adjust the letter setting individually for both discs electrically from the tractor cab. This means the working width can be easily adjusted quickly and accurately just by touching the ISOBUS terminal. When running IsoMatch GEOcontrol in addition to GEOspread you can set the RO-EDW GEOspread more accurately. The working width will be automatically adjusted to suit the overlap and coverage using a GPS positioning system. For example, when driving in a wedge or irregular shaped field, GEOspread will start to decrease the working width step by step. GEOspread is us-
into a minimum of two-metre sections. Not only the spreading width is adjusted, the application rate (kg/min) is also adjusted automatically to match the revised spreading width. This unique combination of working width and application rate adjustment makes the GEOspread system extremely accurate, with minimum influence on the spread pattern coefficient of variation. The Advantages: l Quick and accurate spreading, due to the actuators being directly connected to the discharge point. No linkages. l Stable disc RPM in combination with discharge point adjustment maintains the spreading pattern (coefficient of variation). l Easy operation; no need to step off the tractor to adjust the working width. l 100 per cent ISOBUS compatible for easy operation. l Automatic start/stop with GPS on headlands possible.
The TGB range of utility quads imported by HQB Sport and Leisure Ltd is now the fastest growing ATV brand in the UK and the model line-up has been expanded to cover both twoand four-wheel drive variants in engine sizes from 300 to 550cc, with EFI and EPS options. All TGB models are road legal ‘straight from the crate’, and include a base level of specification that would exhaust the entire accessories list of some of their competitors. Exactly the same twoyear parts and labour warranty as you would expect on any of the major Japanese and American brands is standard on all models. Full spares back -up is available on UK soil, and there are now nearly 50
