NOGUCHI MUSEUM Winter 2014

This in-fill project aims to serve as a dedication and museum in memory of the sculptor Isamu Noguchi while incorporating it into the urban environment of Downtown LA’s Little Tokyo. By creating the giant red wall, dividing the museum almost in half, an organizing element emergest to ensure that circulation is structured off along the south side. This creates an openess throughout all the exhibition areas, and allows for urban passageways similar to those already found in Little Tokyo.

HOUSING

Spring 2014

This project caters primarily to families and centers around ideals of community through it’s courtyard typology, a common style in Pasadena. Conceptually, these apartments center around the heirarchy of public and private spaces through the offsetting of two bars of program. One bar containing the public spaces (such as the living and dining room) and the other containing the private space (such as bedrooms, bathrooms, and the kitchen).

LIFEGUARD HEADQUARTERS

Fall 2013

Overlooking the cliffside pointed due west, the Lifeguard Headquarters maximizes views of the waterfront through the design of the cantilevering overhang. The dramatic geometry is carried over to the neighboring Visitor’s Center as well as throughout the landscape to create picnic areas and various gathering spaces.

CANYON WINERY Fall 2015

In collaboration with Yaneli Monjaras and Adrian Newcomb, the Canyon Winery utilizes precast concrete to create a series of curved panels stacked in various iterations. By placing stacked walls together, intricate gaps emerged creating for a intersitial space that is filled with potential mechanical rooms and circulation. Located in the Kellog Vineyards of Cal Poly Pomona, the Canyon Winery maximizes efficiency for wine production whilst serving as a campus hub for students.
