This collage represents our early notions after receiving the PS2 brief. We were both interested in looking at the seafood or fishing sector in the setting of Grimsby. The industry is significant and was historically glorious in the past, but it is no longer so. We can observe how the Cod War affected UK fisheries over time. From there, we considered ways to make food sources that are more sustainable and responsible for all of the carbon footprints made by the food sector. We conducted research on the food sector in the United Kingdom particularly and globally in general, and discovered a sustainable political movement in the United States called “Farm to Table,” which has four key principles; 1. How to produce a sustainable food source while minimising social and environmental effect. 2. How to process the food produced in a sustainable manner, as well as how to transport or deliver it to the end customer with a low carbon footprint. 3. How to consume food ethically and responsibly, how to proportion the amount, how to preserve food, and so forth. 4. Finally, how to handle food waste and prevent it from decomposing without benefiting the environment.
