Kalundborg is home to the world’s leading industrial symbiosis, which generates profits through a circular approach to production. Locally beneficial and encouraging the rest of the world. Kalundborg Symbiosis is a collaboration of thirteen Kalundborg public and private companies. In addition, we collaborate closely with the Biopro initiative. Since 1972, we have worked together to create the world’s first industrial symbiosis based on a circular production model. The basic idea is that a waste product from one organisation becomes a resource for another, helping both the environment and the economy. Having a local cooperation allows us to share and reuse resources, which saves money and reduces waste. The symbiotic relationship fosters growth in the local community and promotes the green transition.
