Greyson, how are you doing? Are you awake? Yep. Radical. So you and Christian carpool to work? Yeah, of course, I don’t have a license yet. I’m g on it. I’ve had a permit for a while now, but I never got a license because I’m retarded. You’re not retarded. You’re not even partial. Did you see Smut Peddler? Yeah. I watched it a week and a half ago. Did you ever see it before? It’s all right there at deck. I never saw it before. I’ve seen bits and clips of the video before, but I liked the

part where the guy shoots his face off. It’s pretty funny. That’s the best. That was live too, I think. It’s like he’s pulling out a sandwich from a brown bag. It’s insane. The cartoons are pretty good too. He bleeds so much too. How old are you? 19. Where were you born? I was born in Laguna, on March 8, 1991. No way. I was born in Newport Beach. You didn’t have a clown at your hospital did you? Not that I remember. I hate clowns. They’re scary loo-
king. Their faces are insane. It sucks. So you live at Trestles down there? Is there still a break there? Yeah. Radical. Do you surf ever? I started surfing a bunch this summer and then the water got cold so I had to bitch out on it. Do you and your dad ever get into arguments? No, not really. Do you ever argue with Herbie? Oh, of course. Everybody argues with Herbie. Cool it. Really? Yeah. It’s about just the most random stuff too.

Skateboarding starts shrouded in mystery. We do know that it first started in thes , when all across California surfers got the idea of trying to surf the streets. No one really knows who made the first board -- instead, it seems that several people came up with similar ideas at the same time. Several people have claimed to have invented the skateboard first, but nothing can be proved, and skateboarding remains a strange spontaneous creation. These first skateboarders started with wooden boxes or boards with roller skate wheels slapped on the bottom. Like you might imagine, a lot of people got hurt in skateboarding’s early years! It was a sport just being born and discovered, so anything went. The boxes turned into planks, and eventually companies were producing decks of pressed layers of wood -- similar to the skateboard decks of today. During this time, skateboarding was seen as something to do for fun after surfing.

Couple of my friends have skate shoes and they say I need a pair too. But I don’t see the point really. I mean I just wear my normal everyday sneakers. They seem to work just fine. Maybe I’d do better if I did have them, I don’t know that’s why I’m asking.

OLLIE It is the basic skateboard trick, it derived almost everyone else, is the mother of the vast majority of modern tricks. It is to jump to the table without taking his hands. To do this the following steps are taken: one foot behind the first 4 screws of the table and the other on the back or tail tip is placed. Take impulse to jump, is given a blow dry to tail (Al thud also called POP) and the foot that picks up the tail (you jump) and slide the ending the knees if you want a greater height. It lands on the floor with knees bent to cushion the fall, trying to drop the table horizontally and absorbing the impact. To gain confidence can be
held a railing for balance. But when scraping must be done by mid-table placing the foot behind the front screws. Use these steps reference but can be placed where it fits but using Reference manual
NOLLIE The Nollie , is very similar to ollie but more complicated trick, it is raising the table but stepping on the nose ( front end) with the front foot ( the one you use to scrape ) eg if you are regular ( left foot forward ) , put your left foot on the nose and the right use goofy ( right foot forward ) but in reverse

Raw Materials
Most skateboard decks are made of glue and wood (usually maple), but some are made of composites, aluminum, nylon, Plexiglas, fiberglass, foam, and other artificial materials. They are usually decorated by screenprinting. Skateboard trucks are usually made of aluminum or other metal (steel, brass, or another alloy), though a few are made of nylon. Skateboard wheels are made of polyurethane (a synthetic rubber polymer). While some low-end skateboards are assembled by manufacturers, most components are sold separately to consumers who put them together on their own. To assemble a skateboard, the consumer also needs ball bearings (usually full precision and made of metal) and a piece of grip tape. Grip tape comes in a large piece bigger than the deck and looks like a piece of sandpaper. It is put on the top of the deck to provide traction.
Design Skateboard decks, trucks, and wheels have different designs depending on how the skateboard will be used. Decks differ in their angle of concavity and the shape of the nose and tail. Manufacturers design their own boards with their own signature styling. They use templates to impose their design on the shape of the board. Companies that manufacture decks and wheels also make their products stand out by their individual art designs. While some of this artwork is created on computer, some is also done by hand.

EVOLUTION With the evolution of skateparks and ramp skating, the skateboard began to change. Early skate tricks had consisted mainly of two-dimensional freestyle manoeuvres like riding on only two wheels (“wheelie” or “manual”), spinning only on the back wheels (a “pivot”), high jumping over a bar and landing on the board again, also known as a “hippie jump”, long jumping from one board to another, (often over small barrels or fearless teenagers), or slalom. Another popular trick was the Bertlemann slide, named after Larry Bertelemann’s surfing manoeuvres. In 1976, skateboarding was transformed by the invention of the ollie by Alan “Ollie” Gelfand. It remained largely a unique Florida trick until the summer of 1978, when Gelfand made his first visit to California. Gelfand and his revolutionary maneuvers caught the attention of the West Coast skaters and the media where it began to spread worldwide. The ollie was adapted to flat ground by Rodney Mullen in 1982. Mullen also invented the “Magic Flip,” which was later renamed the kickflip, as well as many other tricks including, the 360 kickflip, which is a 360 pop shove-it and a kickflip in the same motion. The flat ground ollie allowed skateboarders to perform tricks in mid-air without any more equipment than the skateboard itself, it has formed the basis of many street skating tricks. A recent development in the world of trick skating is the 1080, which was first ever landed by Tom Schaar in 2012.
