The ArkBar’s Largest Annual Event
Wanted: Justice For All
CHARLES L. HARWELL Annual Meeting is fast approaching. Come for the celebration and leave with the education. Known as Arkansas’s largest legal social event of the year, attending this year’s meeting will provide you with invaluable networking opportunities. This is the place to reconnect with old friends you only see this time of year and to make new friends. You are invited to indulge in three evening receptions, two afternoon receptions, and two evenings with live music, in addition to the meals served in the exhibit hall. Annual Meeting Chair Brian Clary has planned an outstanding meeting. Nationally-recognized speakers and many of Arkansas’s own experts will present topics vital to the practice of law in today’s world. We have two dynamic plenary sessions on Thursday and Friday mornings. We are also offering four hours of Veterans Law and a day-long Masters in Cross Examination session by the American Board of Trial Advocates on Friday. For those who are “techies” or those who strive to be, we have an excellent presentation planned with an expert to inform us about cuttingedge technology and practical tips to aid you in your practice. A lucky lawyer who visits the exhibitors in the Hall of Justice and registers for the prize drawing will receive an iPad mini on Friday afternoon. I am excited about this year’s Annual Meeting and hope you are, too. See you in Hot Springs!

6 June 12-15, 2013 A Message from the Annual Meeting Chair
BRIAN M. CLARY Doers of Justice, Welcome! I am excited that you have chosen to join us for the 115th Annual Meeting of the Arkansas Bar Association. For more than a century, attorneys from across Arkansas have gathered to share ideas, discuss the status of the profession, and enjoy the company of their peers. Over the next four days, a number of CLE topics will be presented by practitioners working on the leading edges of their fields. Jose Baez will
share his insights into the defense of Casey Anthony and Dallas attorney Talmage Boston will speak about the important role attorneys play in our society. A panel of experts discuss the need for diversity and equality of opportunity. This year, I am especially pleased that the Lawyers Assisting Military Personnel Committee will present four hours of continuing legal education. Over the past year, the Association has strived to meet the growing legal demands of our veterans. Three hours of the veteran-related programming meets the CLE requirements for attorneys accredited to appear before Veteran Administration boards and panels. And don’t forget the entertainment and social activities…Friday Firm Reception, golf tournament, 5k, and a great band on Thursday night, the Plaintiffs. Enjoy.
