College of Education & Behavioral Science Strategic Plan Goals and Objectives Mission To provide curricula / instruction to enhance development of physical, mental, social and emotional qualities essential for living a quality life while providing quality professional preparation programs that meet appropriate standards at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Vision To accomplish our mission, the college places primary focus on quality teaching striving to provide service to the (a) university, (b) elementary and secondary schools, (c) community and state and (d) related professional organizations and agencies.
Goal 1: Student Success Develop a diverse learning community and innovative environment that provides engaged and continuous support for future and current students to pursue lifelong goals. Goal 2: Teaching & Learning Invest in viable and relevant academic programs designed to meet the needs of our students and their future employers. Goal 3: Research & Creative Activities Invest in academic research, scholarly activities and creative endeavors (faculty and student) that build on academic strengths and leverage regional opportunities. Goal 4: Community Engagement Strengthen the college’s engagement with the community. Goal 5: College Culture & Shared Values Improve college culture and promote shared values.

Goal: Student Success

Develop a diverse learning community and innovative environment that provides engaged and continuous support for future and current students to pursue lifelong goals.
1. Optimize undergraduate and graduate student recruitment in COEBS through competitive scholarship and stipend awards. 2. Successfully utilize the university system of linked communication and tracking to support undergraduate and graduate student success. 3. Create opportunities for P-12 students to engage with the university.
Examples of Actionable Objectives By 2025: •
Strategic recruitment efforts will result in an increase of 10% in undergraduate and graduate students.

Undergraduate graduation rates: º
4-year graduation rate will be 45%

6-year graduation rate will be 65%

Graduate graduation rates will be 75%
•
Encourage college faculty and staff to use the system by providing training and support. By 2025, 50% will use the university system.

Goal: Teaching & Learning

Invest in viable and relevant academic programs designed to meet the needs of our students and their future employers.
1. Foster and promote general education to expand the learning experiences of students in an ever-changing society. 2. Assess the viability and relevance of new and current academic programs that promote excellence in teaching and learning. 3. Actively encourage academic programs to utilize interdisciplinary approaches to enhance creativity and critical thinking. 4. Increase high-impact opportunities for all students such as internships, and student research.
Examples of Actionable Objectives By 2025: •
The college will actively participate in the university’s redesign of the general education program and offer courses within that program.

All academic degree programs will be reviewed for viability.
•
The departments within the college will contribute to Interdisciplinary Studies, Bachelor of General Studies, Interdisciplinary Family Studies, Data Science / Data Analytics and Integrated Early Childhood Special Education.
•
Each degree program will offer at least one high-impact opportunity for students.

Invest in academic research, scholarly activities and creative endeavors (faculty and student) that build on academic strengths and leverage regional opportunities.
1. Invest in faculty and student research and collaborations. 2. Incentivize creative outreach and community service. 3. Invest in new and innovative research ideas.

25% increase in student participation at Create@State.

25% increase in internal student funding opportunities for research and scholarly projects.

Establish a streamlined method for the college’s maintenance of a graduate faculty status database.

Continuing to support the development of research agendas.

Strengthen the college’s engagement with the community.
1. Partner with community groups to advance and create inclusive opportunities and initiatives. 2. Increase internship placements through collaborations with business, industry, schools and other educational organizations. 3. Create organizational structures to support collaborative efforts with community agencies, advisory councils and schools.
Examples of Actionable Objectives By 2025: •
Increase internships, cooperative agreements with academic programs by 10%.

Increasing number of MOUs, working agreements and formal interactions with local and regional institutions by 10%.
•
Maintain collaborative efforts that allow input from community agencies, advisory councils, professional development networks and schools.

Improve college culture and promote shared values
1. Incorporate the Every Red Wolf Counts philosophy in our college. 2. Create a welcoming environment for all faculty, staff and students. 3. Implement a curriculum that promotes and reflects the democratic and pluralistic values of society.
Action Items •
Embrace diversity, inclusion and civility as important values, such as increase college diversity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives by 10%.
•
Conducting annual workplace satisfaction surveys achieving improvement of 10% in identified surveys.
•
Promote interactions and collaborations between departments within the college.
