Message from the Dean Strategic Plan 2022 - 2027

University College (UC) is the home to many A-State students who are part of our academic support amenities or are enrolled in our flexible degree programs. Our services and programs are uniquely designed for a variety of student populations and are grounded in high-quality advising and personal mentoring. We are dedicated not only to helping students reach their future goals through our specialty services but also empowering students to thrive while in college. To advance our commitment to student success, we have identified five core goals as critical to our mission. On behalf of University College students, the executive leadership team of University College pledges to uphold these strategic initiatives as developed with the input of the faculty and staff of University College. Goals and Objectives

Goal 5: Provide a Supportive and Inclusive Environment that Promotes High-Quality Outcomes University College will create a work environment based on collegiality and collaboration that both inspires and supports faculty and staff.

Increased college going rates and degree attainment is a desired outcome of A-State.

Goal 3: Accelerate Completion through Targeted Advocacy Academic advising is the hallmark of student success and is empirically linked to satisfaction and college completion.

Goal 1: Cultivate Creative Avenues to Attract New Learners

Diversity within our community provides opportunities for increased access to underrepresented populations as well as a broader awareness, understanding and worldview for everyone within that community.

Our mission is to provide the resources and advocacy with which students can explore, engage and excel beyond college. • Establish an UC community advisory board to promote investment.

• Create community partnerships with area industry to attract adult learners.

Goal: Cultivate Creative Avenues to Attract New Learners

A-State is positioned to attract new students from area high schools, industry and abroad. UC will develop relationships with the greater community and offer relevant services to develop opportunities for access to a wide breadth of learners including traditional, adult and returning students. Outcomes • Increase the percentage of high-achieving students on campus.

University College commits to ensure our services and programs represent the diversity of the A-State campus and that staffing, community relations, policies, program requirements and curriculum are developed with diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) in mind. Outcomes • Monitor, track and enhance services to ensure diverse representation and outcomes.

• Annually review services areas and related policies through the appropriate lens.

Academic advising is the hallmark of student success and is empirically linked to satisfaction and college completion. UC will promote advocacy practices, increase awareness of support services and develop relationships on campus and with community stakeholders focusing on populations most at-risk for attrition. As part of advocacy, University College will develop strategies that allow students to reflect, develop and respond to college challenges with increasing maturity as part of an advocacy approach.
