Welcome to the fourteenth edition of the Winning Homes magazine, which showcases the extraordinary skills of those builders who entered our 2019 Master Builders-Bankwest Housing Excellence Awards. This publication celebrates the achievements of the best residential builders in Western Australia. There are five major categories in our awards – contract homes, display homes, alterations/additions, multi-unit developments and ancillary dwellings.

Each of our 330 entries have been individually inspected and judged by a panel of experienced master builders. In this edition of Winning Homes, new homebuyers can examine photographs and profiles of award-winning homes, as well as a directory of all entrants. This is the 39th anniversary of these prestigious awards which continue to inspire builders to innovate and raise their construction standards. The housing industry has changed a lot over the last 4 decades, especially with respect to housing designs, product choice and digital technology. This evolution will no doubt continue in response to changing demographics, lifestyles and affordability issues.

Great engineering and design detailed techniques have been included to expose some of the structural elements. The home is clad in aluminum cladding with burnished concrete and inlaid paving tiles on the floors. Internal walls are lined with Barestone, including shadow line details and tongue and groove brush box timber. The kitchen has an extensive concrete benchtop on the island, and a sleek stainless steel top on the wall unit. The external walls include recycled brick and the living ceiling timber brush box veneer panels.
