FEATURE SHOE STORE

NOVUS ARCHITECTURE LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, USA

FEATURE SHOE STORE Novus Architecture turned to Arktura for design impact in their “infinity” shoe tunnel at the “Feature Shoe Store,” a sneaker boutique, at the Wynn in Las Vegas. Delivering a memorable experience of the utmost importance to Feature, a retail brand built on the convergence of fashion, music, and art. This was achieved by backlighting Vapor® Trail paneling, which became a defining feature of the space. Its Silver Sand finish lends the space an industrial feel, while its dynamic patterning and reflection create a rapid sense of movement throughout the tunnel.

STARBUCKS LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA

LAX STARBUCKS

The Starbucks canopy’s overall design at Los Angeles International Airport was inspipred by the patterns in “latte art” - a motif that both informs the structural system and provides a visual cue for customers. Like the Pinkberry canopy at LAX, this structure’s uniquely formed planar surfaces and 10,200 points of alignment demanded the creation of groundbreaking new software and manufacturing strategies. Our design and production processes’ sophistication and precision enabled this self-supporting canopy to be pre-fabricated off-site, shipped as a kit-of-parts system, and assembled in only a few days.

LAX PINKBERRY

Rittiluechai Architecture worked with Arktura’s Solutions Studio® to create a Pinkberry Kiosk in the LAX airport that would stand out and embody Pinkberry’s branding. Arktura used its proprietary software to design the cellular, organic, self-supporting structure painted in an eye-catching bright green. The metal structure has 4,200 points of alignment but still maintains a light and airy feeling.

LAX PINKBERRY

For such a fun, quirky design, it required an incredible amount of forethought, innovation, and dedication to creating something truly unique. Brilliant architecture often works that way. It looks simple, but when you peel back the layers, you realize the complex mechanisms and the team of people it took to create the piece. - MATT LEE FOR LIVIN SPACES

RDC COLLABORATIVE MANHATTAN BEACH, CALIFORNIA, USA

2171 ROSECRANS Retail Design Collaborative (RDC) worked with Arktura to develop an exterior stainless steel rain-screen facade for 2171 Rosecrans. Starting with Arktura’s existing modular exterior system - Secare® - the modules were rotated 90 degrees to create horizontal movement instead of vertical. Each module was designed to accommodate the facades’ unique conditions. Secare gave texture and dimensional impact to the facade and was used here to add to the textural palette of exterior finishes mixed-use development project.

FOLONIS ARCHITECTURE SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA, USA

TESLA

At the crossroad of the Third Street Promenade and Santa Monica Place, with Michael W. Folonis Architects and Arktura’s Solutions Studio®’s guidance, Tesla developed a facade inspired by the namesake of the company, Nikola Tesla, and magnetic flux diagrams to wrap the exterior facade of their flagship auto showroom. Translating the inspired brief, Arktura utilized proprietary software to develop the complex curved custom exterior Graphic Perf® system into a synergetic graphic form to capture the relationship between magnetic flux and electron decay. The resulting facade visually impacts and filters heat and sunlight, and serves as a rain shield while representing the electric propulsion’s linear energy release. 17

ONE WORKPLACE

DESIGN BLITZ SF SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, USA

ONE WORKPLACE

One Workplace in Santa Clara, California, garnered a collection of awards and nominations for their innovative new space for a new era of manufacturing headquarters and showrooms. A former paper-plant warehouse was transformed to meet the needs of their new space. An exterior cladding feature wall was requested to meld with the reclaimed and reworked industrial aesthetic carried through from the former warehouse. Arktura collaborated with Design Blitz SF to develop a custom perforated pattern in raw steel sheets to patina and leverage the environmental graphic’s relationship to the prevailing industrial structure. The result is an impressive entry facade sure to inspire those who walk through it.
