5 Trans-seasonal wardrobe must-haves
By AMANDA HERRON | Personal stylist at Art of Style
When it’s cold in the morning and warm in the day, you can feel like you weren’t prepared enough as you sweat through lunch and freeze by the time afternoon tea rolls around. Layers are your best friends when dressing for this time of year and here are the five essential items you’ll need.
1 Scarves
Scarves – it might sound a little obvious, but these guys are your best friends! They are fast and easy to add or remove and keep your neck warm from the wind when you need it most. You don’t have to spend a lot on scarves, so find some that are the right colour and pattern for you.
2 Jackets
Jackets – choose something in a cotton or poly blend that can still ‘breathe’ so you don’t get too hot, but the weave is tight enough to keep the wind out. Think denim jackets, blazers and bomber jackets. Full polyester windbreakers tend to trap the heat in, so keep one in your car but avoid wearing it in the office. Portmans Blazers are great style pieces for your work wardrobe.
3 Hats
Hats – this look may be too bold for some, but if you can find a hat that suits your face and your style, you’ll take it with you everywhere. They are great for keeping your head warm and then keeping the sun off your face later in the day. A must-have if you’re heading to the markets! Check out Myer for some great options.
4 Ankle boots
Ankle boots or closed in shoes – something you can hide a sock in to keep your feet warm! It’s not revolutionary, but it does make sense to put an extra layer on your limbs where the circulation isn’t as good. Wittner and Midas have great versatile shoe options.
5 Cardigans
Cardigans – these are great layering items that can exist invisibly under your work jacket, or they can add a pop of colour if you’d like. Some cute options can be found from Review.
