an independent, nationally accredited mediator helps the people in the dispute to try and negotiate a fair outcome — without the high costs, stress and lengthy delays that can come with going to court.

In 2021–22:

• the overall satisfaction rate with the VSBC’s mediation service increased to 88 per cent a record 19,775 Victorians received help with their enquiries

• the VSBC responded to 3171 people who applied for help to resolve a dispute
