Letter from the Publisher Dear friends, We are happy to present the 23rd issue of Aroos Magazine for Fall 2012. We had a very busy summer, with lots of lovely weddings and events throughout Southern California. Now Aroos Magazine’s team is gearing up for our biggest-ever wedding show at the Hyatt Century Plaza in Los Angeles on May 5, 2013. Please save the date! As you may have noticed, over the past few months we have changed our website, adding lots of blog updates, information lists, and options for vendors and visitors; this would have been impossible without the support of Metro Digital printing company, which has always worked with us to print the magazine as well. We currently are working on a full app for mobile devices and tablets, and hope to be able to release it before the new year. Please like us on Facebook on our official page (just search for Aroos Magazine) — you’ll receive lots of updates from us and our vendors, as well as special deals and news. Love, Navid Soheilian Publisher

Britons are becoming crazy for cheese wedding “cakes.” A far cry from the sweet and soft cheesecakes that are popular in America, these “cheese cakes” actually are wheels of cheese stacked so as to look like the more traditional wedding cake, then decorated with flowers and other embellishments. They are very cost effective per serving, compared to normal cakes. Info: finecheese.co.uk. Fall 2012 •

Cover Model for a Day Aroos Magazine: What made you interested in boudoir? Jim Kennedy: I did my first boudoir session about 7 years ago. I had a bride ask me to take some sexy photos of her. At that time I really hadn’t done any shoots like that. But the bride felt real comfortable with me and so I said yes. It was a lot of fun doing the shoot. And my bride really loved the results. She wanted to do it as a gift for her soon to be husband. After that shoot I thought this could be

something that could really take off. So I reached out to a couple more of my brides to see if they would be interested and it just grew from there. How I started calling them for his eyes only session was one of my brides wanted to out on her album “ For Heath’s Eyes Only”. Which was her soon to be husband. That’s where the idea of calling the shoots for his eyes only shoots started. AM: What are some reasons that women have boudoir sessions done?

JK: The main reason for doing the boudoir sessions in the beginning was brides using these images as gifts to their man on the wedding day. But after doing a handful of brides I saw that not only brides to be but also a women who where already married was using these shoots as anniversary, holiday and bday gifts. Once my brides started spreading the word with all their friends how much fun they had doing the shoot it brought it many of their friends wanting the same experience. Some of my clients just do it for themselves. Fall 2012 •

They might not have that special someone in their life. But really feel good about themselves and decided why not do a shoot just for me. Which I think is the case in most of my shoots. The women are doing the shots fro themselves as well as their partner. I think most women love the idea of playing model for the day. AM: How do you stand out from the competition? JK: I think my studio stands out from the competition for a few reasons. I really want to make this a great experience for the women. I want to deliver them tasteful images that they will really cherish forever. I also have a beautiful 4500 sq ft studio set up for shooting boudoir sessions. I have various sets built. Ranging from a vintage bedroom, an old school dive bar, modern furniture to old vintage furniture to work with. I even have a classic 1955 Pink & White Ford Convertible in the studio. The options are endless. So in a short period of time I can deliver an amazing variety images which will make for a beautiful album. AM: Is boudoir for everyone? Are there varying levels of modesty that youcan work with? JK: I think boudoir is for everyone. Every woman that comes in here is beautiful for the day. It’s the confidence in them that makes them beautiful. The fact that they said I can do that is the first step. Then it’s my job to make them feel beautiful and give them an amazing experience. I think that really is the main reason for the success of my for his eyes only sessions. It’s the fact that the women leave here having had a very comfortable experience. Most women do come in nervous. But after about 5 or 10 minutes the really relax and see that it’s a lot of fun. Which at the end of the shoot is so important to me. Making sure they where comfortable doing the shoot and then that turns into great referrals. 34 i

Designer Showcase Sweet stations, whether candy buffets, dessert tables or a combination of both, are growing in popularity. They are the perfect complement to every social gathering. Savvy couples are shifting away from weddings being about themselves, to weddings being all about creating a memorable experience for their guests. Sweet stations are not only a fun socializing spot at your wedding and add to the overall decor, but when done right, they can be as much of a statement piece as any other aspect of the reception, even the wedding cake. Candee by Sandee’s signature sweet stations are designed with many factors in mind, such as the couple’s personalities, unique style, wedding color scheme, event décor, taste and budget. Guests are always appreciative of a tasty favor they pick themselves. The inspiration to this sweet station was described by the bride, Cat, as “Modern Vintage Glam Fiesta”. With a color scheme of hot pink and orange, the table was designed to be situated beneath a beautiful, modern chandelier in the couple’s private estate. Dessert choices included tasty bites with a “fiesta flare”, such as mini churros, Mexican hot chocolate brownie bites with Ancho chile frosting, as well as strawberry-jalapeno cotton candy balls. Special touches included mini doughnuts “con leche” and the groom, Kurtis’ favorite carrot cake pops, which the couple fed to each other in lieu of a traditional wedding cake. Designer Showcase Sabrina Cadini of La Dolce Idea Weddings and Soirees created this delectable Roaring Twenties dessert table, “The Sweeteasy,” based on the speakeasies of the day. “A vintage style and a palette with gold, black and white were accented with details that were typical of that era: feathers and pearls. The focal point was a five-tier square cake decorated with gold fans and a feather at the top. Around the cake, irresistible sweets were symmetrical displayed: French macarons with gold leaf, cake pops dressed with organza and pearls, meringues, and chocolate-dipped madeleines. Candy varieties included anise gummi bears, rock candy, pearlized Jordan almonds, violet mints, caramel taffy, malt chocolate balls, and jelly Champagne bubbles. For stationery, La Dolce Idea designed the tags and the poster board with the sleek, clean lines and geometric shapes that were typical of that period. The names of all sweets were inspired by famous people of the decade (Brooks Almonds, Chaplin Rock Candy, Chanel Cake Pops, etc.).A black satin linen featuring an opulent rose pattern texture and a tall ivory centerpiece completed the look.” Dessert Table styling (Vessels & Stands; Décor elements; Descriptive tags; Candy): Sabrina Cadini, La Dolce Idea Weddings and Soirees, LaDolceIdea.us Flowers/Linens: Laura Paglia, Sweet Ribbon Events, SweetRibbonEvents.com Bakery: Bernadette and Eric Goldstein, Bouchée, BoucheeGourmet.com

Meaning, any religious practice is OK, as long as it’s not a criminal act such as physical or sexual abuse. With this in mind, the reason for the raid on the sect compound is justified. However, what’s rather interesting is that the 16 year old girl who sparked the reason for the raid has so far not been identified. Such a notion may make one wonder, is the sect hiding something from the law enforcement officials? Or could a hypothesis arise in that the law enforcement officials fabricated a sort of false excuse to initiate the raid? Whatever may be the case, this event is just another clear example of why sometimes the law and religion can’t get along.
