Letters from the Publisher and Editor
Dear friends,
Dear readers,
Here you have our spring issue, published just after our fifth annual wedding show at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Beverly Hills.
Here it is – issue 25 of Aroos Magazine! Can you believe it? Neither can we!
This amazing show offered visitors access to fantastic vendors. After six months of marketing and planning for this show, we received good feedback from everyone involved. This show was one of the best we have had in the past six years, with 65 vendors and almost 2,000 visitors and guests. Now we are planning for our next amazing show back at our old home, the Hyatt Regency Irvine, and can’t wait to see you there. Please mark your calendars for January 19, 2014. Love you all, Navid Soheilian Publisher

We’re still recuperating from our largest and most over-the-top bridal show yet – as I write this, not even a week has gone by since we turned off the lights at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. The response from visitors has been fantastic, and we’re so grateful to have been able to spend the day with you all! Now we’ve already begun planning for next year’s show, which will move back down the 405 to Irvine in 2014. Stay tuned for more details! Happy spring, Candice Yacono Editor

Aroos News “Brotox” Numbers Rise In 2012, Americans spent $11 billion on cosmetic procedures. Surprisingly, more than 360,000 men contributed to that number by receiving Botox treatments. “Brotox,” or Botox for male patients, is becomingly increasingly common and less taboo. Once relegated to the female population, Botox has gained popularity among men today – particularly those with what are considered “stressful” careers.
Cutex Takes Care of Your Nails Cutex nail polish remover products include the Advanced Revival One-Step Remover Pads, Advanced Revival Liquid Nail Polish Remover, the Cutex® Corrector Pen and Cutex Regular Instant Nail Polish Remover Jar. The Cutex Advanced Revival formula is the first innovation in nail polish remover in more than 15 years. The patent-pending formula combines the power of acetone with strengthening and nourishing natural apricot seed and parilla drying oils. Natural drying oils begin as a liquid and turn into a solid when exposed to air, allowing the acetone to evaporate. Through the drying process nails are strengthened, leaving them feeling healthy and clean after just one use. The nourishing and protective coating of the botanical drying oils creates a healthier canvas for applying and holding a new polish. Information: cutexnails.com.

While we’ve long known that lack of good quality sleep can have a large impact on human health, a first-of-its-kind clinical trial conducted by physician-scientists at University Hospitals (UH) Case Medical Center and commissioned by Estée Lauder confirms that sleep quality impacts skin function and aging. Poor sleepers had increased signs of skin aging and slower recovery from a variety of environmental stressors, such as disruption of the skin barrier and ultraviolet (UV) exposure. Poor sleepers also had worse assessment of their own skin and facial appearance.
Light of the Party Lighting company SLP Entertainment, Inc. offers Aroos an insider’s look at how to make weddings and other special events shine through specialty lighting. Aroos Magazine: How did you first get into business? SLP Entertainment: Everything started in high school in 2000, with a small deejay setup with a couple of friends. At the time, we tried to have the lighting system updated and stand out from other deejays. We had done few small weddings for family members and got a lot of compliments from guests at the events, and started booking more weddings and Sweet 15s. 16i

Lasting Impressions

By Aroos guest columnist and dentist Aamir Wahab, DDS You’re wearing an ornate white gown, your hair is in a fancy updo, and you’re holding a bouquet of orchids fit for a queen, as you stare into your beloved’s eyes. It’s exactly how you always imagined your wedding day to be. Then the photographer says, “smile.” You panic – scared that the seismic space between your front two teeth, or your discolored, uneven smile, will forever mar the photos of what should be the happiest day of your life – your wedding day. For many people, both men and women, their wedding day is one of the most important events in their life. There are few occasions that will last longer in the memories of the bride, groom, and their guests. A bride’s dress, hair, makeup, and skin play key roles in creating a picture-perfect presentation of beauty, grace, and elegance. A stained or missing tooth can completely disrupt the impression. Even worse, those imperfections will literally last a lifetime when immortalized in the wedding pictures. The wedding of your dreams doesn’t have to be a nightmare. Drug & Substance Abuse: Treatment vs. Punishment By Aroos guest columnist and attorney Christopher K. Jafari Lately there has been a lot of news “PC1000,” is what many substance ofabout famous faces getting in trouble fenders would call a “get out of jail free card.” with drug abuse. Al Gore’s son, Al Gore III, was arrested for suspicion of drug possession during a traffic stop for speeding. And actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested twice for possession of cocaine while driving.
Once the above three steps have been completed, a first time substance offender will find themselves with a pleasant judgment of dismissal by the court and walk out clean. Overall, the new trend in handling first-time substance abuse offenders is a win-win situation.
What’s rather interesting is that the courts are evolving their method of handling substance abuse and possession cases.
The state and its tax payers win by reducing overcrowding issues in jails while promoting the prevention of future offenses.
In an effort to avoid overcrowding jails while committing to justice to substance abuse and possession, judges are now offering plea deals, which allow treatment over the incarceration of drug offenders such as Lohan and Gore.
The offenders on the other hand will take full advantage of the PC1000 plea deal by cleaning up their act without having to spend their nights in a cold cement jail cell.
Al Gore III, for example, was sentenced to a substance abuse program. Lindsay Lohan made a similar plea deal with the court, in that she only spent one day in jail and spend time at the Cirque Lodge Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center in Utah while performing community service. Penal Code 1000, also known as 72i

The theory behind PC1000 is that treatment is the best method at handling substance offenders, rather than punishing them with jail time. The process with PC1000 is as easy as 1-2-3:
Regardless, anyone considering possessing or consuming illegal sub1. Plead guilty so that the court stances should know that 12 weeks does not enter a judgment of con- of rehab and paying court fees alone viction. is good enough reason to simply stay away from drugs. 2. Complete a 12-week class and pay a small court fee. 3. Remain arrest-free for 18 months.
