Welcome to the April issue of the Ackworth Arrow Hip hip hooray, at last, we can meet up outside with our friends once again! From 12th April, we can go shopping, have our hair cut, visit YWP and have a drink in a beer garden. As life edges slowly back to normal, Doncaster currently celebrates being one of the leading areas in it’s successful roll out of the vaccine. Well done to the amazing staff and volunteers who have made this happen. Community groups which have not been able to meet throughout the last year, are at last making plans for reopening with hopefully everyone back to normal by September 2021. Anniversaries, weddings and special family occasions are something we can all look forward to celebrating again with our family and friends. Just want to say a special good luck to all of our local hospitality venues, personal care businesses and anyone who has had to suspend all work or reinvent their services to get through this pandemic, I hope everything goes your way from now on. The deadline for the May issue is Wednesday 14th April. The May issue will be distributed the last weekend in April Happy Easter Michelle Sidebottom

74 Club
The Ackworth 74 Club Welcomes New Members! What is the Ackworth 74 Club?
The Ackworth 74 Club is a Ladies group which met, pre-pandemic, in the Ackworth Methodist Church Hall at 7.30 pm on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, throughout the year, except for August. Sometimes the Club organised activities, outings etc which took place away from the village. The 74 Club, so called because it was formed in 1974, has sort to bring together ladies from all walks of life, from both within the village and from the surrounding area. Some of these ladies have a busy working and family life, others are retired, though many too are still very busy supporting family, both old and young. During the pandemic the Ackworth 74 Club has done it’s best to “Keep Calm and Carry On” managing, as well as possible, to maintain contact with it’s Members, during this difficult time, by arranging actual and virtual events. Now, hopefully, with the easing of restrictions the Committee of the Ackworth 74 Club are looking forward to planning their future Meetings and events. Initially these Club events may still have to be virtual ones or take place in in the open air but as restriction are eased, a full programme will be published to all Members. The 74 Club prides itself on being a “friendly club” where everyone is welcomed and included. The atmosphere at meetings is relaxed and non-threatening, Club procedures and rules kept to the very minimum. Activities range from having Speakers on a wide variety of subjects, social evenings, meals out and outings, especially during the Summer. In the future, as from the very start, the Club will aim to provide entertainment, stimulus and social interaction between like-minded ladies. Fees are traditionally kept low so as to encourage and enable membership for anyone who may wish to join. The annual fees are currently £10 payable at the Annual General Meeting being held each year in March. Any prospective members may also join in September for half the year for just £5. Membership is limited to 60 ladies. For more information or to join the Ackworth 74 Club please call Secretary Sue Smith-Wilkins 01977 615608 Or e-mail suesmithwilkins@gmail.com
