Neighbourhood Policing Priorities as agreed by the Neighbourhood Action Team Meeting which was held on Tuesday 17th February 2015 -Full details can be viewed on www.humberside.police.uk Ongoing Issues Market Place, Crowle - Anti-social Behaviour. We stress that calls that we received have reduced during the cold weather. We speak to the youths in the area and take the appropriate action should we come across any ASB or criminal damage. We reiterate that there has been only a very small number of youths that are causing the problems and the majority are well behaved. Anybody who experiences any problems please report the matter so that we can deal with the incident at the earliest opportunity. The non-emergency telephone number for Humberside Police is 101. Keadby – Anti- social Behaviour. Since issuing the ABC (Acceptable Behaviour Contract) to the main youths causing the problems, which has seen a significant decrease in anti-social logs. We continue to monitor the situation and make frequent patrols of the area and continue working with other agencies. Information On Monday 9th March 2015 there was a community meeting held at the Keadby and Althorpe Primary School. This was the chance for the local public and residents to attend. Tropics discussed were the reporting of incidents to the police immediately when an incident happens. Recently there has been a lack of people reporting such incidents and using social media networks to discuss incidents and then believing that the police have been notified, not only is this not the case but such discussion on networks could hamper any subsequent investigation of any criminal offences. Also at this meeting other organisations such as Safer Neighbourhoods, North Lincolnshire Housing, and Neighbourhood Watch Associations attended to discuss tropics. The meeting was well attended and it is the intention of the Local Neighbourhood Team to continue with this type of meeting across the Isle of Axholme. As always our non-emergency number is 101, and in an emergency please dial 999, Regards from Dean, Wendy and Paul.

Regional Cross Country Success for Crowle Cadet By: Flt Lt J Docherty - 300 (Axholme) Squadron A very cold, snowy and blustery morning saw Air Cadets from South and West Yorkshire Wing assemble in Blackburn to represent their Wing in the North Region Cross Country Championship. Flight Sergeant Daniel Wheatley, from 300 (Axholme) Squadron was part of the Junior Men’s team, after finishing second in the inter Squadron competition last month. The Championship sees the best Air Cadets from across the North of England compete. With up to 20 competitors in each class, competition is fierce. Flight Sergeant Wheatley was one of 4 entrants for the Wing in the Junior Men’s competition. Despite freezing and wet conditions Daniel finished 5 th in his race, with his team being placed 3rd overall in the class. He narrowly missed out being asked to represent North Region in the National Championship by just one place. The Wing were placed 3rd overall for the Championship, which was a fantastic result for the Wing and represented the hard work and effort put in by all the team. Flying Officer V Docherty, 2nd in command at Axholme Squadron, said “It was great that Daniel did so well. He just missed out on representing Region, but was still very pleased with his performance.” Sport is one of the many opportunities the Air Training Corps. offers to its members, both cadets and staff. It is a youth organisation open to anyone aged 13-17. It is also open to those over 20 who wish to join as a staff and assist in the running of such events. If you are interested in finding out more about Air Cadets in South and West Yorkshire, visit www.aircadetsyorkshire.com or about Axholme Squadron, visit www.crowleaircadets.co.uk

Visit to the Battlefields of the Western Front Students Sophie Haslam and William McCullion and teacher, Richard Thorpe, returned home on Wednesday 4th March after four, provocative and exhausting days in the Battlefields of the Western Front. The visit, part of the government's scheme to send representatives of every school to France/Belgium during the Centenary Years, was a huge success. The party visited sites around the town of Ypres. This was of particular significance for Sophie, whose Great Uncle was killed at Passchendaele in 1917. He is memorialised at the Tyne Cot Cemetery, as is Dennis Richardson, a Crowle man killed while serving in the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. 'I was very moved to find his name on the memorial' Sophie said. On the second day the students visited the Battlefield of the Somme, where so many Lincolnshire men died on the 1st July 1916. The effects of the war are still being felt today in the region - the party saw artillery shells turned over by farmers and left for the French Army to dispose of. The day ended with a visit to the Thiepval Memorial, recording the names of over 72,000 British and Commonwealth soldiers who died on The Somme. 'Each of us will carry something different back' said Richard Thorpe. 'The huge scale of the losses on the one hand and the individual stories on the other. On the final day we went to the Lissenthoek military cemetery. Among the British and Commonwealth graves were those of Chinese labourers, it truly was a World War and will inspire us to work to create a project to memorialise our community and the part it played in the Great War.
Visit to Recording Studios, Bradford Music students from Years 9, 10 and 11 were given the opportunity to visit a real live recording studio. On Tuesday 3rd March students visited Factory Street Studios in Bradford to learn how a recording studio works. Students learned how to set up the equipment and then recorded ‘Stand by me’. The day was very successful and students created a fantastic version of the song.
